- On this Episode of The Skid Factory, Al prepares the Big Block Crown for a return to the Dyno.
The radiator is replaced, the lower supercharger pulley is changed from 250mm to 215mm to lower the maximum boost pressure and the fuel system is upgraded with Raceworks 1500cc injectors and a second fuel pump.
We then head down to see Kye at Knight Family Motorsport to update the tune for the new boost pressure and fuel system.

Since you can't make a smaller top pulley could you make a bigger bottom pulley🤔
700HP on an Aussie dyno is about 550HP on an American dyno.
@@jimihendrix5576I think you’re mistaken, definitely the other way around.
having that Summernats idle on a button had me in stitches, and does sound mint too
It's so ridiculous, I'm dying over here.
Sounds better when the throttle gets cracked 👍
Never seen the big man so happy
Al deserves it. He worked his ares off.
I can not believe an oil company has not got onboard with a sponsorship with The Skidfactory.
I’m sure lemon squash is paying big money for all those mentions they get
I think some have tried but Al likes what he lieks
Doubt a big oil company cares.
Harrop support goes good tho
What the fuchs
"I'm that guy, that fills my tank, ..." , classic. Every time doing a in tank fuel pump, at the workshop...lol! Legend Al!
Whomp mode. Love it 🤣
Love the big block and Kye's a real pro, but I miss seeing The Hoff behind the laptop.
From what I’ve seen on Hoff’s channel it seems the wait list for using the dyno is months long. I don’t think Al will wait for that long.
Plus only 30-40 minutes away compared to 2-3 hours away for the Hoff depending on traffic
Haha Al's little laugh while choosing a sticker for the whomp button. He's a happy man.
This whole car start to finish. Such a great achievement.
Famous last words
Long time coming, but rome wasn’t built in a day..
The interior of this car looks amazing
For sneak effect, should have just used that “M” sticker upside-down. Whomp engage!
A true man of class uses black fittings instead of goofy ass anodised red and blue. Love ya work Al
What an amazing car. The Whomp button was genious!
Stick a picture of "The Womp" from Double the Fist on the button.
Arh yes the “wherever place” aka the shit draw, box or container 👌
Every shop has one
2:32 ''i'm that guy...'' 😂Al, that's why I keep coming back, you keep it real, no matter what the topic. 👍👍
what a beast! You guys are all legends, Kye also really knows his stuff!
love to see oldest gromet grab a lemon squash or two and the crown for a lap down town with the boys while dads outa town... it's what i would do!!!! don't think the old man has forgiven me yet... :) Can see the love and pride you have in the car Al great work!! Not the bigest hp on the channel (yet) but the sweetest ride!!
I never get tired of the sound of that engine on the dyno!!! Beautiful car!
See you at summernats 👍🍺👍
It's gonna take something pretty special to beat this beast. Looks, style, sound, power. This beautiful beast has it all.. you'll never get the smile of Al's face. Can't wait to see it at the track, that's gonna be hair raising.. thanks for the video boy's.
Have fun. Also love that Woody is so well brought up.
Unleash The Beast!. Thanks Guys for being Awesome! 🤟🏼
Bloody awesome build, start to finish has been one of my favorites ever, keen to see you put some numbers down Al!
Bring alot of merch, NATS BABY
A smiling AL makes me smile 👌👌👌👌👌😁
Also that is one thirsty big block. Damn that's a lot of fuel system
700 rwhp has always been my all time dream goal (dream because it'll never happen unless I find a bag of money somewhere)
When I was a young teen I seen an orange Torana in street machine magazine which had 700rwhp which was astronomical power in a street legal car at the time. The basic point of the line was something like "even at 110km/h all you have to do his give it a gut full and the rears just light up"
I always wanted to overtake at 110km/h whilst doing a massive power skid (on private property obviously.... )
Can’t wait to see you guys and the 👑 @Summernats 35
Great video as always guys, what an awesome car.
The level of control with the Haltech is amazing. What a brilliant piece of Australian engineering.
See you guys there. Looking forward to meeting you both.
Less boost, more fuel, more power?
BIGGER AIR. Everyone say hi to the Gale Banks school of thought.
Love the old school style wheels. Good looking build! Wish I could find similar wheels for a Alfa GTV6.
I love this build this car is so awesome. And it sounds like Al has the perfect plan for that beast. Doesn't really matter if you have the fastest car. If you can drive around and womp on it. That's were the most fun is to be found. 🤘
Thanks Al, Kye and Michael for taking the time to talk to me at length at Willowbank on the weekend. Was great to see the car in real life. You guys have done a killer job on it.
This thing is a beast on screen and was even better seeing it in real life on saturday. Was also great to meet you two legends on saturday Alan and Woody. Keep up the great work.
Damn y'all, I can only wish that I had the means, resources, and knowledge to build a dream like this someday. I have a 709 whp 1997 EJ8 Civic coupe with a fully built LSVTEC (a B series non-VTEC block with a DOHC VTEC head), and I built it all (edit: sorry, other than the machine shop work and the bottom end, Iwas referring to the car, suspension, head, etc). I don't have the time to get it properly tuned on the dyno (but it made 709 whp on a DynoJet on its current tune), and I've never been able to get a clean pass out of it because the closest drag strip is only open in the summer, I work six days a week, and I don't have any way to get it to the track other than to drive it. It's been impossible for me to get any time to do anything with it, so I'm always screwed out of my love. I have $20,000 into a $1,000 car, so no matter what I do I'm screwed.
20k into a 1k car makes it worth atleast 21k. Back before Covid it would’ve been worth 10k max
One of the best sounding blower motors since mad Max's beast that is fully drivable for a layman
Where’s the Hoff? Kye is a legend, lots of knowledge
Was about to say the same
The Hoff is flat out and lives 2 hours from us. Kye is local.
Chuffed for you Al, looks like it's all falling into place, nice for you to be getting a fun toy for a change!
Nicely done boys
Good stuff lads, so happy summer is finally here. Hopefully catch you down the 'berra. ✌🇦🇺
Appreciate the work you both do and it’s awesome to see how this build turned out. Really enjoy your attention to detail, knowledge and humor.
Thanks for sharing your skills!
You should check out Rocky Mountain race week for your next drag week in America.
Cheers from Denver Colorado!
Woohoo! Can't wait to see it here in Canberra.
Turn the 3 clockwise 45°.
Stunning car Al, you deserve it 👊🏻
Super clean build Al, nice work mate.
Great video, Informative and detailed as usual, Thank you guys!
Have a great time mate!
Love a whomp switch.
Looking forward to catching this at summernats! Lots to take in on this car!
Thank you for sharing with the world al and woody
Great video as always guys, see you’s at summernats 🤙🏽🎉
Love the whomp switch 😅
It was good meet you at Willowbank last weekend awesome build and very tidy 👌
Sheesh that amount of power in that size car! 👏👏👏
Looking forward to the video from the track. Keep the shiny side up.
Looking forward tosee the big crown at the nats!
Less boost?? Mind blown on a Sunday morning. 🤯
nice upload lads
Cheers
Jim
that's a great sounding engine.
Very cool
Very different and very cool!
what a weapon bro
Love the car mate. Well made 💪🔥
Love it, I can see a skid mark's logo coming, merry christmas gent's
Got to love a lazy 700
Summernats ready
To hear an Australian bloke say "ground" instead of "earth" when referring to a negative battery connection made me a proud American. 🍻
Very nice.
Whomp mode = "UNLEASH THE BEAST" 😂
Plenty of power for a light car, v.nice you deserve it.
You've come along way since the boxer motors
Automatic cable cam! How good!
Bloody Mint👌
careful Al, drag racing can be addictive haha. can't wait to see you take it down the quarter
I have taken it down the 1/8 and can indeed confirm that it is addictive.
I hear all these people with boosted motors say "oh yeah, it's got a real safe tune in it" and then you look at the AFRs and they never get under 11:1 .. And then 1500kms down the track, they end up with glazed bores and pushing oil out the breathers and smoking out the tailpipe. And they go to blame the piston rings or engine builder, not Dr-NES-TUNEBROTHERS' rom 1.13 .. (this is doing it the right way, btw, but there's nothing wrong with having a stoic tune with a turbo engine, it's actually a good thing)
I hope that ground wire to your pumps is beefy the amperage draw from both those pumps must be massive.
Beautiful car looks like a show car!
Love this build, if you break and need to fix my shop is 15mins from Willowbank Raceway :P
Make sure to capture some footage of Brooke! She’s up there with the car😍
Womp mode engaged !!!
Just wondering where I can pick up one those custom boot lid struts mate. Car is awesome, well done guys.
in my unpopular opinion. this car is everything i want in a crown ✌✌
Wats up bois from nz 🔥💯🤙🤙
Even less traction than before = more skids
Womp switch 🤙
Ghost cam button lol
Pretty much, that term or name shouldn’t have the bad rep it gets on forums.
700hp, pshaaw, give ya a run in me FX grey motor twin overhead foxtails n shaved door handles. Have fun at the drags, looking forward to the vids!
Great job guys. Polestar all electric car adds didn't agree.
Sounds killer without ya Bridgeport switch , but how goods the switch
that was quick 😂
make sure you wear your brown pants at Willowbank Al, good luck mate don't fence it lol
plans!!!!
Time to bust out the NHRA big book of cages. (It's got so many pretty pictures). Cut to the chase and build for 6.4
you're going to have to chop the exhaust off for summernats
Will remove the rear section.
Could you fit those electric exhaust cut-outs so beloved by Americans?
Are you gunna run header dumps hahaha
*AES do some good exhaust cut outs =)
"MOAR POWAH!"
-Jeremy Clarkson
😁😁😇😇😁😁
Should have used the mario mushroom for the whomp
Lol 69-420 weight oil. Bet Woody was giggling his head off while writing that label up.
Now I know what the whoomp was all about at willow bank. I thought that was a well timed foot to accelerator peddle.... 1990s style
Nexus is much better at it than me.
You guys will have to come for a fat lap in my poorly tuned methanol land barge 🤣
Flapper valves in the radiator shroud should give some additional cooling from improving the airflow through the matrix by reducing the stagnant air in the areas near the corners.
