- Looking for a comfortable, fast road bike for your next century, gran fondo, or all day ride?
The Canyon Endurace checks all the boxes, and we proved it by riding 240 miles over three days to the coast, strapped with frame bags and more.
Then we ripped it around our local roads, through the hills and around the corners to see if it makes a great daily driver, too. Here's the full review, with closeups on its tech features and design, plus all the other little goodies it comes with.

Your the only person to talk about seat post slipping on other bike brands. well done
Great online review with a mix of specs and road handling. I am seriously considering the Canyon Endurace CF 8 for my next purchase and your review has really helped me confirm my decision.
Glad to see a review that’s recent! Well done-thank you!
Thank you!
I'm so glad you added that music.
Hi Great review.
Thinking of getting Endurace just worried is it low at front for a sportive bike.
Mabye I’m over thinking it, did you go with the size Canyon recommended? Is it a comfy bike and is that seat post a good job?
Very informative review for prospective buyers. I have been looking at Canyon sizing and think an XL would be right for me. Out of interest how tall are you and what is the max rider/cargo weight for these bikes? Great walk around of the bike components and great road footage.
Finally got my hands on a Canyon Endurace CF 7 eTap and love it 😊
Exceptional review thank you!
good review and loved the music :)
The jazz was a bit too fast for my taste. Slow jazz would be better.
Nice riding shots,,, cameraman did it well.
Thanks - I just bought one. They have a few in stock.
Excellent review 👏 very helpful. Canyon gives you a lot of bike for the 💰 cool music
Nice can't wait I have the Frozen Yellow coming my way🚴
Got one in 2016; 85.000 km later and still happy.
Ah here , come back when you have ridden it a bit 😉
Very nice review, thanks ! On canyon website it said that you can only put 30mm tyres for the SL8. Did you had any issues while using the 32 ?
Some people have gone as large as 35c
Can you do review on Canyon Ultimete 2021 CF SL 8.0 rim breaks version ?
PS. great review on this one !
I would love to see it compared to its race counterpart too.
this bike hasn't changed in 5 or 6 years, time for a refresh!
This is the second time I visit this review because I'm going to pull the trigger on the 7.0 version of this bike as soon as it's available on the Canyon page since the bike I really wanted, the Trek Domane AL4 is backordered till March 2023. I wanted to come back because I wanted to make absolutely certain that these DT Swiss wheels were tubeless ready because I don't want to ride this new bike on anything but tubeless tires. That was confirmed on your own page. Thank you for that! Great review! I look forward to testing this bike myself soon!
I'm in the same boat. I like the AL5 Disc and the equivalent is the Endurance 7 Disc. The AL"5" is much better than the 4 because the 105 groupset is nicer than Tiagra and much better than Sora. Did you end up getting one- how is it. Any tips you can share?
@@UTAH100 unfortunately I still haven't been able to order one. Canyon's page says now the bikes will be available for winter, probably December, but we'll see. Oh, and the blue color isn't available anymore, just Frozen Yellow, which I'm actually warming up to, or Stealth grey, but only on the Ultegra equipped models which start at $900 more...
@@Snicker60515 Life is short Jose- hold out for the one you really want, then keep it a long time!
I like Stealth grey a lot. I would prefer the 105 groupset over all others. It is by far the most reliable- very well reviewed. Zero need for most to pay a dollar more for Ultegra. I doubt you would notice any appreciable difference.
Which bike model are you referring to- I did not see that. ONly the stealth grey 7 that is $1,899. The 6.0 is $1,499 but that is Tiagra- that is a difference you might notice- also in the handles/shifters, etc. The 7 is also very slightly lighter than the 6. With the 7 not only is it smoother, but you will pick up another gear. It's worth the premium over the 6 IMO.
You are riding a xl? How tall are you? I am 6’3 and trying to decide if I need the xl or the xxl
I'm also 190 and have been trying to work out what size to go with.. Thanks for the info and the review..
Sure thing, glad it helped!
that was well thought out
What bike is better for town, canyon grail or endurance?
Hi, what size is the blackburn saddle bag that you have onvthis bike?
How about the aluminium version?
Curious question, why would I choose this over a gravel bike?
Sorry if I missed it in the video, how tall are you and what is your inseam?
I'm 6'4 w/ a 35" inseam and want to make sure XL is best.
Great video
I'm 6'2" with 33-34" inseam (I buy 34 inseam pants)
@@BikeRumor thanks so much!
I'm also 6'4" with 35" inseam. Considering this bike. Did you get an XL and does it fit ok?
Hi. Do you think a 35mm continental tire would still fit on it? Thanks.
I run 35 mm gravel tyres on this bike.
Did you have any problems with brake rub when riding out of the saddle?
I have this bike, no issue with brake rub out of saddle
I'm looking at a 2021 ultimate CF SL8, however, i live in Des Moines, Iowa and not only is there no place to ride where there isnt a ton of traffic, but our roads are pothole city. Ironic being that we host Ragbrai every single summer...meaning, riding on rural roads from small town to small town is the only way to go. Our scenery is cows and corn.
How was the frame size to your height. I’m 188 cm tall with 92 inseam and torn between 58 and 61 sizes...
I tested the 61 of a friend and decided to order the 58. I'm 190 with 88 inseam. My upperbody is pretty tall, but still felt I needed to stretch too much.
I'm 6ft with an inseem of 88. That puts me between M & L. I went for the M as its easier to make a bike larger not smaller. Is this right?
Probably... just depends on how you like longer stems and how that impacts handling. We've ridden bikes both ways, and it really comes down to personal preference. Knowing your preferred ETT measurement is key, that's mostly how we determine a bike's size when calling one in for testing.
How tall are you and what's your inseam? I'm 5 foot 9 inches and have a 30 inch inseam. I bought the Endurace AL 6.0 disc. Canyon's website said the XS was my size, so that's what I went with. I'm just curious whether I should have ordered a larger frame size
Are you happy with the bike size? I'm 5'9 with a 31-32 inch inseam and it recommends a small.
Did you purchase the bike and if so what size?@@13FootyStar
These comments are unbelievably curated. The truth is that these updates make for an objectively more problematic endurance bike.
a big hole in the top tube for rain to pour into… an integrated headset so you’re less likely to be able to fix an issue on the roadside, and now you can’t mount your phone or aero bars for another hand position on long rides…
Right shifter is angled outward but left shifter aligned with frame... Driving me nuts
Thank you. I've been interested in this bike. The only drawback to me is aluminum (not carbon) rims. I'm starting to truly wonder if that really matters.
I'm in the same boat as you. I am currently rolling 50mm carbon rims, and when I swapped them in for my stock wheels I did set a bunch of PRs on my local segments. That being said, looking to replace that 8 year old bike and I'm thinking "I don't race, I ride for fun and fitness. How high-spec do I really need to shell out for?" lol.
@@jwtimpe regardless if you race or not, buy what you’ll enjoy even if you just to it for fun and fitness. Not all racers need the latest and greatest gadgets but you will feel the difference. More money spend more comfortable it is.
I have the same one in red and no DI. Love the bike. Had issues with stock tires and got 32mm gatorskins
what kind of tire issues? I just bought that same model
@@nshire , tire kept going flat at 10-20 mile trips.
Just picked up a CF SL7
My only disappointment that no one mentions....
You can't fit a cadence sensor, the clearance is too tight :(
I've been riding long enough to not really need it but it would have been nice to have.
Now I'll just have to invest in a PM crank. $$$

Today Canyon sells this bike, other colors, and the same shimano ultegra di2 11s, for $2,800. With ultegra Di2 12 s, Canyon sells it for 3,500 dollars
Bought this bike with the mechanical groupset and was between a Large and XL went with the XL and thought the 90mm stem would be a much better fit, but Canyon wouldn’t swap it and wanted me to buy a new one (10%) off less than a week after I bought the $3,000 bike
I bought this bike in the dark color. The di2 charger wasn’t in the box. I told her the literature was there, but no charger. I called and she sent me a link to buy one form Competitive Cyclist! I’ve emailed to try and get it sorted out. For this amount of money, the customer should get what they need.
Hi, is road buzz that noticeable on this bike?
No, not bad at all...but tire pressure and width has a lot to do with that, and we still prefer carbon handlebars to damp vibrations even further.
Endurance or spend a little extra for a Aethos Expert?
I'd go for the Endurace. Far better value. Aethos Expert is nice enough but 5.5k is a lot for something that still does not come stock with carbon wheels. Same thing with Tarmac expert. Same high price and the wheels of a $4k bike.
Hi, is it good for gravel as well?
I run 35 mm gravel tyres on this bike and it works great on gravel and light singletrack.
@@marchardeman thank you. 35mm it's quite huge for that bike. How much space is left? Less than a mm, i think.
Mine is not Di2, CF SL 8.0 and i'm so stoked. i'm 6 feet and ordered a medium...very scared i got the wrong size!
Hello. I am looking at this bike these days and I am confused on sizing. Being also 6ft was wondering how did M size work for you. Isn't it too close at 458 reach? Thank you
@@paulalexandruchira2548 you know, I’m stretching getting ready for a ride as I type this, and wow am I excited. Medium is a LITTLE LITTLE small one would say, but I like it like that. Super comfy, amazing bike. Best bike ever actually for the price
How tall are you?
Noticed two scratches... one of them looks quite bad
If you're talking about the stuff at about 3:10 - that is just the chainstay protective tape peeling up.
You got the XL can I ask how tall you are. Thanks
Did a testride last week on an XL. Slightly too big for me and ordered the L. Can't wait. I'm 190 cm. Inside legs 88.
I’m 185cm (6’1”) tall with 86cm (34”) inside leg. I went large on this exact same bike which fits well.
I got mine last week. And fits good for me as well. Couple of cm isn't that big of a deal. Can always work with the saddle or change the stem if nessecary.
6'2" with average proportions, but I definitely put a shorter stem on it.
@@Nicka2003
Hello,
I have same measurements as you. According to Canyon I fit both M and L but they suggest I should go with M. I keep on thinking L would fit me better. Are you still happy with the size? Did you feel the need for a shorter stem or is 110 ok?
Thank you. Have a great season!
Good review.... but terrible music 😉
Jazz fits😊 a endurace bike
Lol why music 😂
Not available, not even for preorder.
I ordered a 2XL version three days ago and received it today.
Annoying music, too loud, can't watch.
The music is so annoying!!!!
