the poor pizza shop worker showing the double headed eagle sign (albanian) getting confused for a gang sign had me dying
just came to the comments to post that hahaha
Reminds me of Xhaka and Shaqir in the World Cup
😂😂😂
Aren't ethnic groups and countries just big gangs anyway?
Not Connor getting free food everywhere. Your level of confidence and extrovertedness is a dream of mine
I started watching your videos last week and now have watched everything. I don't see why your sub count isn't higher, you're an amazing narrator of these experiences. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching. Thank you!
Same! Just found this page and been watching videos every lunch break 😂
0:36 Very nice handshake, dabbed you up real good.
That's what I was thinking
i started watching your videos a week or so ago and I am binging everything. Great work man KEEP GOING
guessed Balkan region. "Everyone is so nice" - well, you were talking solely to salesmen 🙄 Great video as always!

I love your personality so much!! I just randomly came across your page and I’m excited to follow your journey. I also spent time backpacking many of these countries and you make me wish I recorded interactions as well. You’re definitely funnier than me though.
You went to Moldova and now you're in North Macedonia. You totally skipped Romania!
Yea thanks for spoiling it for the rest of us
@Name-hh3ez then don't read the comments if you are going to cry about spoilers...that's utube 101 kid

Many "white Muslims" moved from Bosnia-Herzegovina to St. Louis, where I live. There are many thousands here now and there are mosques in some neighborhoods. They are descendants of people living during the centuries when Muslims exerted influence over the Balkan area.
They are balkan people who were muslimised from catholics and orthodox christians while under the Otomans as christians had to pay higher taxes while they were ruled by muslims.
7:05 totally watching his film
So how is it?
11:00 this character here speaking german, french, italian and portuguese randomly lol Edit: 13:49 "pile of spices!" (whilst staring at the startlingly large pile of dried tea leaves) lmao
😂
yeah i thought that looked like loose black tea lol
This place looks cooler than most the places I've seen and people also very chill and friendly. Thanks for the vids favorite travel blog hands down!
Bro you hit the nail on the head. I was just telling someone the other day... Im never more comfortable then when im in a place i know nobody".
Those stacks and stacks of grapes look amazingly fresh.
...
And the olives
There are Muslims all over the Balkans, because a lot of it was part of the Ottoman empire until the early 1900s. I think it was like 1911, or 1912 that the first Balkan wars happened, where Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro fought the Ottomans for their independence and basically pushed the Ottoman Empire out of Europe for the first time in like 450ish years. A few years later WW1 would start, which would officially dissolve what was left of the Ottoman empire, and the state of Turkey was established in its place. There is obviously more to it than that, that's just a basic summary
thanks, professor
I guessed Bulgaria or Macedonia, leaning on Macedonia because Bulgaria is not so diverse. But I didn't know that Macedonia is that diverse either, so you had me there. It seems that they have a lot of Albanian immigrants, that's why there are so many Muslims around, I guess Macedonians are generally Christian.
Nice channel, by the way. You got me to comment for the first time, with your guessing challenge. Love it!
The albanians are not migrant’s. They are native like for example me. I am an albanian macedonian and they make up about 30% of the population of the country. So no not immigrants!
Yes the other person is right. National borders don't necessarily match up to ethnicity in the balkans. Albanian doesn't mean "from albania" it just means that they speak the albanian language, have an albanian name, are part of the albanian culture etc.
You trying to pronounce rakia was madness haha
Yeah, this is an Albanian-dominated part of Skopje. Hospitable people. Though not in EU as you claim at 15:10
Thanks for catching that! Lol
1:57 is the giveaway - Macedonian flag upper right area with the wedding dresses...
In February 2019, Macedonia's name changed to the Republic of North Macedonia. Look up Kingdom of Macedonia, an ancient kingdom on the periphery of Archaic and Classical Greece, which later became the dominant state of Hellenistic Greece.
In 03:01 it says Albanian Theatre in Skopje(Macedonia) :)
This seems like a cool place.
Great video. Makes me want to visit over there! I love that it has and accepts different types of people and different languages :) in fact I think I’m gonna read Wikipedia on that country now :)
Last year i was in Albania; fruit and vegetable markets are exactly the same!
That market is crazy as F.
what happened between Transnistria and here? you crossed two or three countries in between ...wanted to see that part also :P
My guess would be Macedonia, judging of of people wears hijabs and where people said they were from. While you were in the shop there was a Macedonian flag next to the Albanian flag. I’m at 3:10 right now so can’t wait to see if I’m right or wrong. Love the videos!
LETS GO I WAS RIGHT!
Crushing it bro 🤝
@@SmallBrainedAmerican LOVE THE VIDEOS! Stay safe!
They all speak Bulgarian
@@user-mf5ue6rc5n further adds to the mystery of this place 🤔
I never knew there were many Muslims in Macedonia
What happened to Romania and Bulgaria? , can’t be leaving out content like that for us to binge 😂
For the record Macedonia isn't in the EU in the date of this video, even if it submitted its membership application in 2004
dosent look european to me at all more like east asian too bad he skipped northen europe totally diffrent world here xould be amazed if he getting anything free here haha!

Wait how'd we get here from Moldova exactly? What happened to Romania?
I went to school with a Macedonian Canadian and it was awesome!
This sentence had never been said in the history of mankind..."We are deep in the granny panties catacomb!" 😂
If western academics cared to study Albania really at all, they'd call the place post-modern. Their first national ruler was named King Zog, like something right out of a science fiction book. They speak a language that has no even moderately close relative still spoken today. Mix of Roman, Greek, Turkish and homegrown culture many would never understand. Don't care if your religion is Islam, Orthodox, Catholic, the state or the self, just treat people how you want to be treated, with the same respect you expect. One day the world will catch on.
Lol Macedonias new marketing campaign for tourism. "Come to Macedonia, we have free grapes."
Found your channel a few days. Just going through the whole lot. Finished Colombia, India, Mexico, Ireland, UK, France and just finished Ukraine.
You need to make a trip down to Australia 🇦🇺 😊

Just for clarification, I googled this and there were some interesting answers on quora. Apparently there's a sizeable turkish population in the major cities like Skopje who claim to be albanian but have really turkish roots. I wasn't aware of this strange scrambling...but the culture here seems overtly turkish.
I guessed Turkey. I was wrong! ☹️
I wonder why that is?
Dont trust everything you see on quora ... most albanians in macedonia live in the northwest (near the border with albania and kosovo, which is 92% albanian. Many turks who live in macedonia are really albanians who have adopted turkish ethnicity. It gets very complicated but it seems like whoever you found on quora got it backwards.
The culture is so turkish as albania(as well as much of the southern balkans) was part of the ottoman empire for 400 years.
@@stickcultist I mean ethnically they didn't look Albanian, but I could be wrong. But also the fact that you say these are Albanians who adopted Turkish culture, is very different from Albania proper where that is not the case like at all. The majority may be nominally Muslim, but the culture is pretty much European.
@@alwynraynott7303 They look just like most albanians I've ever seen. Also albanian culture is very influenced by turkish culture. Have you ever been to Albania?
What an interesting country!
4:10 FYI Yugoslavia was not Soviet, actually they were not very friendly with the Soviet Union 😂
I’m learning 🤓
if you always kind of wing it and do what you feel like, what happens with visas and such? cus i want to take things as they come when i travel, but then the visa is a problem
A lot of visas are pretty quick to get. You just look into it a couple days ahead of time in some places, or even at the border.
hey, buddy, if you ever make your route up to Finland, i can easily promise you a finnish sauna with riding companion on scenic Karelian routes. Constantine ruled the known world for a time.
Constantine is liar and manipulator of history. He changed scripture to control the masses and it was a bullshit and still is. Hence why people are worshipping Jesus and not God despite scripture stating otherwise.
Skopje, Macedonia is a strange screwed up place. One side of river is Slavic Macedonian people and the other side is the Albanian people and culture. And the two sides don’t interact at all…parallel worlds

The Mac in Macedonia is pronounced “mass”

Albania!
well yes, not in eu
I think it is Albania
Albania doesn't look anything like this. These people look middle eastern claiming to be albanian. Muslim albanians are secular and don't dress like that
@@alwynraynott7303 Already replied to your other comment but I'm curious where you're getting this from. To me the albanians in this video look very much like albanians from albania. There were a few more people with religious clothing than I'm used to but the idea that people came from the middle east and pretended to be albanian is ridiculous. Definitely possible they might have a few turkish ancestors though
It’s not Mac eh donia, but more it’s mass ehh donia. Massehdonia. No hard “c”
Viggo Mortensen / Aragorn?
Omg you've been in Balkan , Macedonia is nice country mix of everything but if sou ever get in Europe please come visit Bosnia ,Croatia or Montenegro. You where in Albania 4sure. The Albanian flag was everywhere + the people where muslim and Albanians are mostly muslim.

I knew within a minute that this is in the Western Balkans - or Albania, or Macedonia or Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have visited all these countries many times so I recognise immediately the street atmosphere.

To me as a european this is easy to guess (from the hints, also ive been there) and outrageously racist haha but generally awsome contant man, me gusta!
also btw the "probably a gang sign" as far as i know is a sign for albania mimicing the eagles on the albanian flag
