This siren is in Irving, TX. It sounds a three minute alert signal. These EOWS 612s will all be replaced in the next two years with new Federal Signal 508s
“These EOWS 612s will all be replaced in the next 2 years with new Federal Signal 508s” There are still some EOWS 612s in Irving Texas in active service
Great capture!! I'm a resident here in Irving and I definitely remember that those sirens used to sound off the 12:00 Westminster Chimes...at least until 2005 when a few of the units in Valley Ranch got replaced by the FS-2001s. The biggest laugh is that on the last Tornado Warning, the EOWS-612s lasted longer than the 2001s in a solid 15-minute run (or 5 times, 3 mins. each).
@NEOhioTrainFan If I had to estimate I was probably 250 feet away from this siren. I have never had a problem with distortion on this camera. The closest I have ever recorded would be about 100 feet away.

2:53 siren shuts down
As of June 2023 only one EOWS-612 is standing in Irving all of the other ones have been replaced.
This Eows 12 made a siren head sound
As of 2020, I believe there is still a few left. Most of them are in terrible condition though.
Exellent video! That siren sounds really healthy. I'm glad that they are not going to be replaced.

Sounds like a modulator
0:07 Wind Up
2:53 Wind Down
This siren still stands as of June 2016...
its August and it has moved since last time i saw it
you were wrong,i am posting this in 2015 and im telling you that siren is still there! Trust me,i still pass by it
Wow this is now my 2nd favourite siren. But for me it just can't beat the Aca Hurricane 130 MKII. It just sounds a bit better.
I like the other sirens heard in the background.
How far were you away from this siren when recording? I have the same camera, and I don't want a lot of distortion.
I can see why they kept the EOWS cause it uses the newer Ultra-Voice controllers.
Great video! What camera do you use?
@crazywarriorman JVC Everio HD.
@busgeek71 This one is at Valley Ranch Elementary School.
sounds like the drivers are popping pitch might be to high for these sirens
612s and Mod can handle pitches up to 20,000HZ.
what did the EMA say?. was he nice?.
Do you know how old it is?
I'm not sure. If I had to guess I would say early to mid 80's
sounds like a federal signal modulator.
Uses the same sound card, but this uses Siratone controls and modulators use UltraVoice
yep
+BOB!theGMObanana No siratone here, it's MCP.
