Sorry for your loss Lynn losing parents is hard.
condolences
âTake on Meâ by Aha...awesome for its time
Lynn, great call on Johnny Cash "Hurt" It's the most emotional video I've ever seen.
Thank you
absolutely
Noooo doubt! When Cash OWNED Reznerâs song
Pete... when Our lips are sealed came out, people in Australia called radio stations to request Alex the Seal đ
That is hilarious! Nice
Lynne is such a great addition to the channel. I love having more ladies on. Gives a different perspective - and Lynne and Butch together on the squares? Forget about it! Hilarious!
Hi Pete and Lynne. I agree with all your selections except Home Sweet Home. Here are some of mine off the top of my head.
Love.
1. Anthrax - Bring the Noise
2. Whitesnake - Still of the Night
3. XTC - Dear God
4. Badlands - Winters Call Pete, I thought your were going to pick Badlands with their "Brother Band" Blue Murder.
5. The Firm - Radioactive
6. Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls
7. Rush - Subdivisions - This song and video depicts my growing up in high school. Plus my favorite video game was Tempest also.
Hate.
1. Judas Priest - Breaking the Law
2. Motley Crue - Smoking in the Boys Room
3. A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran
4. Falco - Der Kommisar - I love the song however the video is ridiculously cheesy.
Sorry for your loss Lynne, my sincerest condolences, that Johnny Cash song, Hurt, is a good song/video, it's actually a cover of a Nine Inch Nails song. I was like 7 or so when MTV came on the air in '81, so my favorites are all over the place.
In no particular order:
Metallica - One
Twisted Sister - I Wanna Rock
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Men At Work - Who Can It Be Now
Motley Crue - Smokin' In The Boys Room
Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
Toto - Africa
Van Halen - Hot For Teacher
David Lee Roth - California Girls or Yankee Rose
Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized
Guns N Roses - Welcome To The Jungle ... etc etc!
LYNNE/ my sincere condolences. I wish you the best, you seem to be an absolute sweetheart! đđŻ
Why does Billy Squire catch so much shit for âRock Me Tonightâ while Paul Stanley acts like Paul Stanley?!
'Rock Me Tonight' was unfortunately a poorly directed video from the early MTV age of bigger production budgets which threw money at good songs with weak story lines. Billy Squier had serious street-cred as a heavy rock and roller until this badly choreographed, dance-infused folly with neon colours and pastel polyester clothing hit the TV. It was a time when music videos could make or break a new or established band.
Because Paul Stanley is in a pretty popular band that plays kick ass hard rock....I believe the name of the band is Kiss, and I think he might be the lead singer.
Bless their hearts for showing up Lynne!
Sorry to hear about lynne parents, hope you still have a great Xmas holidays all đ€đ€

Skateaway video great!!! Song great as well.
Enjoying pausing the video to go and watch each selection on CZcams.
One that brings back memories for me when it first come out was Ratt's first album hit "Round and Round". Ratt is set up in the attic of a rich man's mansion. Ratt starts terrorizing them with their music while they were eating dinner. Warren DeMartini crashes through the attic floor onto the dinner table while ripping into a lead solo. Drywall and dust flying everywhere. That video and album made them one of the biggest bands of that era. Milton Berle was in the video. His nephew was the bands manager at the time.
Top 10 Seinfeld....1. The dinner party 2. The hamptons 3. The marine biologist 4. The pie 5. The opposite 6. The pen 7. The chicken roaster 8. The yada yada 9. The soup nazi 10. The switchđ€đ€đ
Lynn rules. Love her spirit!
Her voice is great
Iâm so sorry for the loss of your parents Lynn
Sending you prayers, love & comfort as you get through this difficult time

Land of Confusion video was based on the Spitting Imgage TV Series, which was a satirical show in the UK.
You know that sledge hammer video was the first job for guy that when on to make all the Wallace and Gromit films !!!
Another good idea for a video could be "songs that should had videoclip" or "songs that could've been hits".
Land of Confusion vid, always liked that one too!
Given time I could do a Top 100. But I won't. When MTV videos are mentioned, these are the ones that immediately come to mind as the ones I loved!
1. Van Halen : Hot For Teacher ("Sit down, Waldo!")
2. Van Halen : Jump (Just fun)
3. Robert Palmer : Addicted To Love (The song and the simplicity of the video.. fun and perfect!)
4. ZZ Top : Gimme All Your Lovin
5. ZZ Top : Legs (MTV video MASTERS!)
6.Fatboy Slim : Weapon Of Choice (Christopher Walken can FLY!!!)
7.Tom Petty : Don't Come Around Here No More (Alice In Wonderland fun!)
8. Bob Dylan : Subterranean Homesick Blues (Genius in the simplicity of cue cards!)
9. Judas Priest : Breaking The Law (2 1/2 minutes of Priest fun!)
10. Nirvana : "Smells Like Teen Spirit (Perfect mix of audio and video)
Oh, one more...
11. Bonnie Tyler : Total Eclipse Of The Heart (I loved this song and the video was weird but good!)
....and for the worst..AFTER Billy Squire...
Journey : Separate Ways!!!! (Ugh! đ€ąđ€ź)
@Robert Juzefski đ
Loved "You Might Think" by the Cars! One of the best ever. So funny - the fly, and Paulina Poriskova - take note Pete - whom I believe Ric Ocasec married shortly thereafter. So sorry for your losses Lynne. I will pray for you.
"Magic" was another great video/song from Heartbeat City. I think that album was six singles deep.
One of my all time favorite videos is Megadeth's "Sweating Bullets."
I enjoyed listening to you & Lynneâs MTV favorite videos and some stickers. I have a lot of favorites . Hereâs some of my favorites..
1. Heart â€ïž These Dreams & Never
2. Europe- The Final Countdown
3. Lita Ford & Ozzy - Close My Eyes Forever
4. Def Leppard- Rock of Ages
5. Scorpions- Rock You Like a Hurricane
6. Bangles- Walk Like An Egyptian
7. Van Halen- Panama
8. Genesis- Land of Confusion
9.Peter Gabriel- Sledgehammer
10. Joan Jett - I love Rock-N- Roll
đŒđ€đžđ”đ„
Thank you both for taking me down memory lane. I watched a lot of MTV growing up, but kind of forgot about some of those videos. I'm so sorry to hear about your parents Lynne.
DLR .. Yankee Rose intro , perfectly Dave. Prayers blessing to your family friend
I havenât seen Lynn on this channel before...such a fun hang! Totally reminds me of girls Iâve hung with back in the day. Had me cracking up!
Sorry for your loss Lynn. I empathize. My mom died in 2018. I miss her so much.
Motorhead: Killed by death
Magnum: Midnight
Sammy Hagar: I can't drive 55
Rush: Subdivisions
Survivor: I can't hold back
Iron Maiden: The Trooper
Marillion: Garden Party
Gn'R: November rain
Duran Duran: Wild boys
Michael Sembello: Maniac
Metallica: One
Savatage: When the crowds are gone
Def Leppard: Let's get rocked
Toto: Africa
AC/DC: It's a long way to the top
Lou Gramm: Lost in the shadows
Loudness: This lonely heart
Queensryche: Eyes of a stranger
Ratt: Round and Round
Twitted Sister: We're not gonna take it
Van Halen: Hot for Teacher
Motley CrĂŒe: Wild Side
I can't drive 55 was fun! And I almost put Wild Boys in my top 10 too. I remember when that came out. The production was over the top. An event like Janet and Michael Jackson videos in the 90s.
Great list!! I love that you put Loudness This Lonely Heart. Hurricane Eyes was the first album I ever got from Loudness back in 1988 as a little kid. S.D.I. Is still my all time favorite Loudness song ever.
@@LowNoiseJasonSkilz Little trivia: Wild Boys had a million dollar budget. It really shows, I'd say!
Sorry for your loss Lynne take care Stay safe and strong
Another fun episode! I think videos, like Pete said were a part of our lives as integral as radio, but with that said most of these videos from my distant past didn't age well and when I get a wild hair to watch them I end up disappointed. But there are a few that I can still watch.
1. Hot For Teacher- Van Halen
2. Subdivisions - Rush
3. Vienna - Ultravox
4. Epic- Faith No More
5. Owner of A Lonely Heart- Yes
Being a big time KISS fan in the 1970s, one of the most impressionable MTV events was in 1983 when they showed Gene/ Paul/ Eric/ and Vinnie with their makeup on and then without The infamous KISS makeup removal with DJ JJ.
yEP!
*VJ
@@independenceltd. Yes. After I typed it. But your đŻ correct. Lol
Scandal - "The Warrior"
Sonic Youth - "Kool Thing"
Sheila E. - "The Glamorous Life"
Billy Ocean - "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)"
"Weird Al" Yankovic - "White And Nerdy"
Timex Social Club - "Rumors"
Killing Joke - "Eighties"
Run-D.M.C. - "King Of Rock"
Guadalcanal Diary - "Watusi Rodeo"
Rockwell - "Obscene Phone Caller"
I remember staying up late with my high school party buddies on August 1st, 1981 continuously watching the first few new music videos: âIn the air tonightâ, âTalk to you laterâ, âLooking for cluesâ, âSurface Tensionâ, âFashionâ are a few that were in heavy rotation.
Another extremely entertaining segment. As someone who worked at MTV scheduling these videos, I always find it interesting to hear what people were thinking. Very fun.
Great topic Pete and Lynne (and so sorry to hear about that Lynne.) Mine:
Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio; Modern English - I Melt With You; Berlin - Sex; BOC - Joan Crawford (if you were lucky enough to see it); SAGA - On The Loose; Aha - Take On Me; Martha and the Motels - Suddenly Last Summer; GTR - When The Heart Rules the Mind; Michael Jackson - Thriller; U2 - New Year's Day.
Stinkers: Journey - Separate Ways; Styx - Mr Roboto; Starship - We Built This City; Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go Go; Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby; Beach Boys - Kokomo; Billy Squier - Rock Me Tonight; Warrant - Cherry Pie; Taco - Puttin' On The Ritz; Klaus Nomi - Total Eclipse of the Sun
Your list rules! You nailed it with every pick!
Madness-Our House. Alway got a laugh from the video.
"where I used to live and grew up in
Oklahoma i lived on a small town block
where the house in the middle of the street
as the road separated as it neared my house
and one went left and the other went right,
yeah the middle of the street or road."-đ€âđ„..
LOL, my dad used that song as his example of why music of my generation sucked compared to his generation. Didn't matter that I listened to metal, he stuck to his guns until he died with that one...LOL
Great video I really had a great time and a laugh watching this one and Pete great Black Country accent there you almost sounded like me for a sec ;)
Also Lynn truly sorry for your loss, hang in there and were all here for you no matter what...
Reet then onto the video, being a youngster at 34 I missed the golden classic era on MTV but I do remember VH1 where all the classic video's were so I'll mix it up with the old and new videos.
First of all the ones I love
1. Rush - Time Stand Still (How can you not like this video the floating around of the band and Aimee Mann captaining the ship, such a wonderful cinematic experience)
2. Bon Jovi - Living on a Prayer (First time I ever saw these guys and I thought the zip line thing was the coolest thing ever)
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication (I remember seeing this video for the first time and wanting to go out and buy this game, fantastic)
4. Queen - I Want to break Free (Camp as anything, the guys based this on popular UK soap opera Coronation Street, amazing acting from the boys and Roger Taylor scarily looks very feminine in this video)
5. Guns N Roses - November Rain (Wow just wow, I still don't know if the rain killed that chick or not, and Slash at the church doing that epic solo. Love them or hate them, this was a brilliant shot.)
The ones I hate
1. Toto - Rosanna (So pervy and cheesy this one and the band look like they're tongues are hanging out over the chick who clearly doesn't want to know, it was the 80s after all)
2. Genesis - I Can't Dance (The band hit an all time low with this video, nobody want to see them strutting like Ric Flair...ugh)
3. Limp Bizkit - Rollin (Fred looks like he's got a Ferret down his trousers and Ben Stiller?? Really?...Next!!)
4. Warrant - Heaven (Made it on the this list purely for Jani Lane's dodgy wink at the end...WTF!!! lmao)
5. Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (Love the song and adore the band, but you have to admit, these five strutting down the street don't look as tough as they are making out lol)
Honorable Mentions for video's I like
Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Had fun doing this one...on to the next!! :)
Nick
I used to Christmas Carol as a Child
When I read favorite MTV videos, the first ones to pop-up my mind were:
A-HA - Take On Me
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Genesis - Land Of Confusion
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Cindy Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Great choice with "Hurt". Man that video has impact.
Sorry for your losses Lynn. TC and wishing you a better 2021
Love from England
My condolences to you Lynne for your loss. I lost my father 8 years ago but I'm lucky my mother is still here. You bring so much fun to these videos. Thanks
THANK YOU PETE. I REALLY ENJOYED THAT ! AND I LOVE YOUR GUESTS. LYNNE IS SO LOVELY!
Judas Priest - "Don't Go"
Ratt - "Back For More"
Honeymoon Suite - "New Girl Now"
Bryan Adams - "Run To You"
Dan Baird - "I Love You Period"
Adam and the Ants - "Stand and Deliver"
Robert Plant - "In the Mood"
Tears for Fears - "Head Over Heels"
Nazareth - "Holiday"
Tom Petty & the HB's - "Woman in Love"
My most sincere and deepest of condolences Lynn in loss of your parents this year, You are extremely brave and appear to be in great spirits, you are living my biggest dread in life, My mother is the anchor of our family, it paralyzes my ability to think about being in your shoes there are times most of the time I hope I go before she does. Happy Holidays to you both and may 2021 be the year we all deserve!!
Itâs most definitely not easy they were my best friends and the reason I love music so much ! Ty
The Seinfeld idea is intriguing. One that pops to mind that could pertain to music is Elaine dancing.
My Top Two.
Library Cop
The Contest
đ€Łđđ€Łđ
The thing with Seinfeld episodes is you had the story the episode is titled after and then one or two other subplots. Such a brilliant show.
My condolences, Lynne. Some of my faves: "I Ran" - A Flock of Seagulls .. "Be Near Me" - ABC .. "Sharp-dressed Man" - ZZ Top .. "Disarm" - Smashing Pumpkins .. "1979" - Smashing Pumpkins .. "Black Hole Sun" - Soundgarden .. "Jump" - Van Halen .. "House of Fun" - Madness .. "It Must Be Love" - Madness
Agree with everything except I Ran--great song but an awful video!
In the early days, The Pretenders had a video for Tattooed Love Boys. They had a camera shot above Martin Chambers when he throws a stick up and then catches it. I remember saying F yeah then and I'm saying F yeah now!
Hurt from Johnny Cash is a Nine Inch Nails cover
Top 3:
1) Don Henley, "The Boys of Summer." From the B&W photography, the haunting images like Don as a child practicing on the drums to the grown-up Don looking backward (to the past) and the rear-screen projection representing the past, just great! It won the first-year MTV Video of the Year award and deservedly so!
2) Richard Marx, "Don't Mean Nothing." Great song and video about his struggle to break into the music business, but has personal signficance to me because it reminds me of the years I lived in L.A. For this same reason, Randy Newman's "I Love L.A."
3) Sting, "Fortress Around Your Heart." A great storyline of a future, washed-up Sting who still has one obsessive fan out there.
You guys left out some artists who each made a bunch of great videos like Billy Joel ("Tell Her About It" is a favorite), Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and, yes, Huey Lewis and the News, although that "Hip To Be Square" one is terrible!
For the stinky cheese, I hope Pete or one of the Squares picks Steve Winwood's "When You See A Chance" on that upcoming show. Great artist and song but awful video!
Also, should note that Niedemeyer is probably featured in that Twisted Sister video because his dialogue from the movie is included at the end of the song: "You're all worthless and weak!...Now drop and give me 20!...A pledge pin? On your UNIFORM??!!!" LOL!
Condolences to Lynne.
Sorry for your loss, Lynn.
Neil Young This note's for you a great blast at "advertisers" Whitney and Michael.
Enjoyed the video. I was a senior in college when MTV debuted. Couldn't wait to watch between classes. Unfortunately, there weren't many videos to begin with. I did enjoy any video that put faces to the tunes. It was cool for me to see the musicians. Remember really enjoying Saga- On the loose.
Rock you Like a Hurricane! OMG I remember it world premiering on MTV back in Jan 84, Totally awesome!
I staid home that Friday Night to watch the World Premier. Cheers!!
The Cheap Trick song was the title song from the movie "Up the creek" with Tim Matheson
Thank you,I am not the only
One who remembers. đ
How about Aldo Nova - Fantasy? With the catsuit and the high heeled boots, shooting lasers from a Les Paul... I mean, clearly a stinker.
Dude thats my top choice for terrible video ha ha!!
Alcatrazz "God blessed video" , Steve Vai is great on this one!!
Some of my favorites from the good old days of MTV: The Pretenders-Tattooed Love Boys..Talking Heads-And She Was...Devo-It's A Beautiful World..Rammstein-Amerika...Adrian Belew-Big Electric Cat...Ministry-Jesus Built my Hot Rod.
Lynn seems super cool and chill. So sorry for your loss.
Fun and entertaining show, folks. Lynne, like other here I offer my deepest sympathies on losing both your parents in the last year. A tough time but your contagious joy of life and good friends help. And I loved your discussion of being a manager at the cemetery and talking with 'the relatives.' About a decade ahead of Pete on the calendar so MTV was not as big an attraction to me though I do fondly remember a few videos. Among them, Thriller for the reasons you both mention. Also, "Take On Me" by a_ha [the sheer novelty of it at the time] and Madonna shout outs for "Vogue" and "Express Yourself." And I always liked Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" - the song and the video. But among the stinkers not mentioned is Whatzupwityu by Eddie Murphy and Michael Jackson. What a stinker!
And another "Yes" vote for the Hudson Valley Squares to tackle and extension of this topic or a discussion of Seinfeld. Until then, Happy Festivus for the rest of us. Thanks for the show.
Iâm probably a minority here, but to me I like the cheesy, corny goofy 1980s videos. It reminds me of simpler, fun cheerful times. Per EX. TRASHED 1983 Black Sabbath and even 1981 Judas Priest Heading Down the Highway 1981. I find them to be a GOOD BAD. Obviously, just my opinion! Great topic. Thx PETE and Thanks Lynne
Alos what I was thinking.
Could make a full list of so cheesy but good! Accept Balls to the Wall and Kiss Lick it up would be on that list for me.
5 - ZZ Top - Legs
4 - Dire Straits - Money for Nothing
3 - Def Leppard - Armageddon It
2 - Badlands - Winter's Call (seeing this video introduced me to the band!)
1 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
25 fun clips, none truly bad some just corny (as some of the songs)...
Supertramp - Cannonball
Kate Bush - Cloudbusting
Marilyn Martin - Night Moves
Glenn Frey - Smugglerâs Blues
Billy Ocean - Loverboy
Rainbow - Death Alley Driver
Steve Miller Band - Bongo Bongo
Venom - Nightmare
Greg Kihn Band - Jeopardy
Gillan - Living for the City
Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy
Herbie Hancock - Rockit
Fastway - Tell Me
Berlin - No More Words
Eurythmics - Here Comes the Rain Again
The Highwaymen - Highwayman
Dan Hartman - Second Nature
John Hunter - Tragedy
Rick Dees - Get Nekked
Chicago - Stay the Night
Sammy Hagar - I Canât Drive 55
Chaka Khan - This Is My Night
Laura Branigan - The Lucky One
Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science
I love Billy Squier. If someone did that kind of video these days it would really be no big deal at all. Hell, Foo Fighters dressed in drag in one of their videos and no one gave two squats.
I'd forgotten some of those. Thanks for the reminders Lynne, Pete!
Iron Maidenâs Iron Maiden! I still remember seeing that video when I was 13 years old and Iâve never see or heard anything like this before. I heard Sabbath but Maiden blew me away and Iâve been a metal and Maiden fan ever since.
I had this feeling the first time I watched the lofi Venom (fake live) videos. Or Razor - Evil Invaders.
Sorry for your loss Lynn. You have some good friends!
"Right Now" by Van Halen was always one of my favorites.
Very sorry for your loss Lynn
One I just saw was Woflgang Van Halen's new video Distance. If you want one that will bring a tear to your eye it's this one all home footage of him Valerie and Eddie very emotional vid and well done.
One of my favorite videos is Great White- Stick It. Very much a rarity but really captures male teenage angst perfectly
i donât know if they were mentioned but the residents have the best videos for me, hard to believe that such a unique/ avant garde band could get so much time on mtv.
I was really into the music video era of MTV. Some of my favorites: RATT/ Back For More, featuring another Milton Berle appearance. PHIL COLLINS/Land of Confusion, some great puppeteering. RAINBOW/I Can't Let You Go,with great vocals by Joe Lynn Turner & a horror premise. DOKKEN/Heaven Sent, just a kick-ass rock song with a Lynch solo in a graveyard... who wouldn't like that? + The JACKO short-film /Thriller. There's just some things standard in those 80's music videos: 1."Mostly" good musicianship 2.One or more attractive females. 3. Period cheese. For better or worse;an era never to returnđ.
My top 5
Tyketto:Forever Young
Trouble Tribe:Here comes trouble
Duran Duran:Wild Boys
Queensryche:Best i can
Whitesnake:Now you're gone
Lynn, Hurt is a Nine Inch Nails cover by Johnny Cash. It was his last right before his death. Try the original if you haven't already. Can't believe Pete has never seen it.
Groundbreakers for me:
Nine Inch Nails - Closer
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love
Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime
Elvis Costello - Pump it Up
Herbie Hancock - Rockit
Man Rockit! Which opened up All Hit Videos every week. We didn't have MTV in Canada or Muchmusic yet but I remember all these from all hit videos - VH Jump, Dire Straits Money For Nothing, Twisted Sister I Wanna Rock..
Merry Christmas đâ too everyone.
Excellent show topic!
I have to go back to the very FIRST MTV vid I ever saw. It was mid-late '82 when I saw Pat Benatar's "I'm gonna follow you." As a 4th grader my thoughts were "why is this woman scaring the hell outta me yet I can't keep my eyes off of her?" Sagas "On the Loose" was another early fave.
Little trivia: I'm Gonna Follow You was one of the vids shown on MTV during its first 24 hours on the air.
Motorhead - Iron Fist
Quiet Riot - The Wild And The Young
Godley & Creme - An Englishman In New York
The Stranglers - No Mercy
Tool - Sober
Tool - Prison Sex
Sepultura - Ratamahatta
Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes
Huey Lewis And The News - I Want A New Drug
1. Money For Nothing
2. Land of Confusion
3. Sledgehammer
4. Take On Me

That land of confusion video is a land of confusion.
@@planetbarrett6055 if you weren't from the States you probably won't get it..

Bad music videos with the Hudson Valley Squares? THIS should be fun!
The Dancing in the street was filmed in like 6 hours overnight for Live Aid. It was shown twice at the event.
Dire StraitsÂŽ two videos for Walk Of Life are wonderful. The first one, with a guy singing and playing the London underground or a tunnel, is a bit sentimental, and the other one, with all the sports bloopers, hilarious!
We're Not Gonna Take It with Twister Sister is just like Lynne says a truly a generation thing. I love that one!
And yes Pete, Sledgehammer is absolutely wonderful! I love the steam train and as a teenager watching that for the first time was awesome back then
The video for Godley & Creme's Cry is fantastic!
Jump by Van Halen is great, mostly for showing off David Lee Roth's jumping prowess.
We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel is also great in all its historical presentation.
Land Of Confusion indeed! Spitting Image did a very good job with the puppets on this one. And I guess what you Pete is thinking about is I Can't Dance, a deliberate stinker because Genesis were making fun of the style of videos at the time.
The Big Money by Rush is both good and bad. It's so 80s! All that terrible hair and the colours, but the guys are professional anyway. Rush also made a real stinker for Time Stand Still. Come on, floating drumkits weren't a thing even back in 1989.
I remember a comic (not his name),who had a line "well, I finally saw KISS w/ out their make-up .it's my family!!
Dire Straits - Money for Nothing.
Twisted Sister - I wanna Rock.
KISS - Heavens on Fire
Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days
John Lennon - Nobody told Me.
Mötley CrĂŒe - Girls Girls Girls.
Cyndi Lauper - Girls just wanna have Fun.
The Call - Let the day Begin.
John Kilzer - Memory in the Making.
Michael Jackson - Thriller. Possibly the longest music video ever.
David lee Roth - Just a gigalo.
Eddie Money - Take me home Tonight.
Heart - Never.
Herbie Hancock - Rock It.
The Go Goâs - We got the Beat.
The Romantics - What I like about you.
KISS - I love it Loud.
Phil Collins & Phil Bailey - Easy Lover
Favorite: come on feel the noize by Quiet Riot in 1983 which made that album become the first âHeavy Metalâ album to reach number 1.
The worst â Rock me tonightâ by Billy Squier which ruined his career, he shouldâve hired a female model to dance in that video instead of him.
By the way can you do a ranking either top 10 songs or albums by Billy Squier since he deserves redemption from that video fiasco
No love at all (in the video or comments) for the best video of all time..... "Sober" by TOOL. An amazing creepy video with a really creepy song behind it.
I know I'm a little late to the party on this one. Good job guys! One thing I wanted to mention, and I am not sure if this was brought up in the comments. Please forgive me if it was. For Metallicaâs One video, the black and white footage was actually from a film called Johnny Got His Gun starring Sam Bottoms. A very intense film if you can find it.
I started with 5 videos by bands that I didn't know, or knew very little about, that the videos got me to buy their music:
5. Warrior Soul - We Cry Out
4. Faith No More - Epic
3. The Black Crowes - Hard to Handle
2. Accept - Balls to the Wall
1. Motley Crue - Home Sweet Home...I listed this one cuz I'm in the video, not seen but at the venue where it was filmed. My claim to fame is that I camped out at a Sears to buy tickets, and I was behind the girl who flashes in the video (and her boyfriend).
1-Hot for Teacher/ VH ;(how can it not be the coolest ever?)
2-Panama/ VH
3-Gimme all your Lovin/ ZZ Top
4-Fantasy/ Aldo Nova
5-Looks that Kill/ Crue
6-Just a Giggalo/ DLR
7-I Wanna Rock/ TS
8-Billie Jean/ MJ
9-Letâs Go Crazy/ Prince
10-Destination Unknown/ Missing Persons
HM-Yankee Rose/ DLR, Dokken-Burning like a Flame or any of the Weird Al onesâŠ
The legendary ones always mentioned over the yrs; Genesis-Land of Confusion, Gabriel-Sledgehammer, A-Ha-Take on Me, MJ-Beat ItâŠalso, that Johnny Cash video of Hurt is THE most moving video Iâve EVER saw in my life, and I was there for MTVâs first video in 81!
My Top 3 videos #1. I can play that Rock & Roll-Joe Walsh #2.Jeopardy-Greg Kihn Band #3.Whip it-Devo -Top Stinker-No way out-Jefferson Starship
Very entertaining video ! One of my favourites of the 80's was I Can Dream About You by Dan Hartman ( Edgar Winter band ). There are 2 versions of this video . One opens with someone putting money in the jukebox in a bar , and the singers are shown on the television above the bar . The best version of the video just shows the singers on stage , singing the song and dancing in front of a crowd . They wore the coolest suits , and could really dance.
Iâm surprised you didnât have any Tom Petty videos. He has some great videos
Oh, hell yes! Tom's vids never failed to please! Rip Tom Petty!
