A privilege to FINALLY discover them . A truly fantastic group , love them…Totally my cup of tea 🥰
You can be sure I’ll be listening to this since a tremendous fan of southern rock. Thanks, Pete, for continuing to review new products.
Love this band! Very happy that you reviewed this album! All their albums are great!
Tremendous summary. Thank you. PETE 👍
Love BBS!
Saw them in 2016 and it was a great show! I have a 4 of their albums. If they're touring, and coming to your town, I recommend checking them out.
I love the complete honesty in these reviews.
They are a band that in normal times seem to hit the UK in mid winter and I always try and get to see them , brings a a bit of Southern sunshine to a cold dark winter night in Scotland.
Their best albums are Whippoorwill, and Holding all the Roses. This doesn’t match them but is a n enjoyable listen, after their last couple of albums seemed to be okay but maybe treading water.
Looking forward to hearing some Georgia in Glasgow from them next February.
Thanks Pete, I really dig these guys. Great rockers, full of hooks, as you mentioned great summer party album
I’ve seen them live twice and are amazing live and hopefully seeing them again this summer
Great to see you reviewing Blackberry Smoke. One of my favourite new (I say new I 1st saw them 10 years ago) bands. Not one of my favourite albums by them, but a good, steady album IMO.
BEST BAND SINCE THE BLACK CROWES!!!!! LOVE,LOVE, LOVE THIS BAND!!!!! This ALBUM IS AWESOME (Like Every Album Before), JUST KEEP'EM COMING BOYS!!!! P.S. I've seen Them 3 Times, got to meet 3 of the Boys at one show, THEY PUT ON A FANTASTIC SHOW!!!! BBS 4 LIFE!!!!!!
These guys are unbelievable! I think, apart from classic pre-77 Skynyrd, they are the best Southern rock band hands down. And the covers they do, of practically ANY BAND, is 100%! Check out their live Fairies wear Boots. Crushed it💪🏽😎
Wow better than the Allmans? That's saying a lot. I'm a 70's guy & for 70's Southern rock I also really like Marshall Tucker, ARS & The Outlaws. Point Blank & Raisin' Kane also have some good tunes
@@wolf1977 I love all of those too. That was the first style of music I got into, in the mid 70s heyday. I say that because Smoke is so versatile. They can do heavy rock, blues, country, covers, you name it. Those guys & Allman’s probably are tied for second, but as much as I love Hatchet, Outlaws, MTB, CDB, Rossington Collins, Blackfoot, and the others--BlackBerry Smoke are my favs behind classic Skynyrd. Also, thes3 guys aren’t really “album” guys, they crush it live. Look at practically any CZcams video of em live. That’s where they shine, or “smoke”😎
@@brianallen8091 “smoke”...Haha, I see what you did there 😃
Totally agree
If they came out 35 years ago, they'd be legends by now. The most underrated under the radar band out there. Charlie Starr is amazing and should be a listed amongst the greatest of southern rock frontmen.
I’ve seen them live. Great show
"Holding All the Roses" is just amazing!! The standout tracks for me are the title track, "Let Me Help You (Find the Door)", "Woman In the Moon".
Blackberry Smoke is definitely one of my favorite bands now. I have all their Studio albums on vinyl and I've seen them live six times. They put on a fan-freaking-tastic show.!!
Going to see them for the 1st time with Allman Betts band, another band I like in couple of weeks just outside of Dayton Ohio, love the new album and the last 5 albums for me!
@@tylerpatterson4787 Yeah that's cool! Gregg Allman's son and Dickey Betts son. Have a great time I know you will enjoy the show immensely. Blackberry Smoke kicks ass live! I did not see them for the first time until 2016. I was hooked! I have seen Blackberry Smoke 6 times now.
Sorry for late comment but the show last summer was amazing. Both bands are amazing
I have listen to this album a lot on Spotify as the stores don't have it yet here in Europe. I like it lot and looking forward to see them live in February 2022
Love the Killer Klowns shirt!
Thanks for doing this review, Pete. I really love Blackberry Smoke but haven't heard most of this album yet. I'm a fan of Southern rock *and* downhome (i.e. *not* polished, radio-pop-oriented) country, so I do enjoy both aspects of their music. Sometimes, they rock harder than many other Southern rock bands, *and* they're more country too!
Indeed If you like Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Little Feat, Black Crowes and Allman Brothers Band. This is a great band and live is much better
I like this band, never say southern rock is dead because their are so many great southern rock bands today
Okay Pete I get where you're coming from. But you need to see this band Live they usually play Two Plus hours and put on one hell of a great show. Honestly it would blow you away I think. The people in England and Europe also dig them. They tour over there also.
I’m from the UK and yes they are popular here. Have seen them a few times. They haven’t done a bad album but some are better than others. My personal favourite is Little Piece O’ Dixie.
@@andrewmaplethorpe1125 yes that is a great one!
I like 3 tracks from this album: "Live It Down", "All Rise Again" & "Morningside". Band reminds me of a harder-edged Gov't Mule, or maybe The Temperance Movement (I like that band a bit more though). Homecoming; Live In Atlanta & Live From Capricorn Studios (cover of the Allmans' "Revival") have some nice live tunes
Hey Wolf , Never heard of The Temperance Movement . Just enjoying on Spotify, great sound 👍Thank you ..
Hey Wolf those 3 songs you mentioned are great songs especially All Rise Again with Warren Haynes, that’s my favorite song on the album, I also like All over the road too
Brilliant band great album
This band is 100% my style and have loved them since 2008. You gotta catch them live Pete because they are killer. I'd say "little piece of Dixie" is their best album.
love me some Blackberry Smoke, but I have a soft spot for Southern rock anyway, with The Black Crowes, Third Day, Allmans, Skynyrd, etc...
Black Stone Cherry is southern metal. Really good band. Whiskey Myers rocks.
Another Southern rock band I like is Allman Betts band. If you have a chance give them a listen, there really good, 2 albums so far.
These guys have some really catchy tunes. They're coming to New Hampshire this summer with 3 Doors Down. Pete - What do you think of Frank Turner?
I agree with Pete... I've been following this band for years, but sometimes I find them too country-oriented for my taste. But their more rocking tunes are great. Best tracks: All rise again (with great guest vocals and guitar by Warren Haynes), You Hear Georgia, Old Scarecrow))
I have been a fan of this band since hearing what i personally feel was their best album 'The Whipporwill' in 2012, have seen them live twice so far, great shows with Zeppelin, Sabbath & Beatles jams thrown in. I liked the new album but thought it was a little short & lacking in bite, 'Find a Light' from 2018 was the better album but i like that they are always willing to try new sounds & take risks. They have been my favourite modern band since hearing the track 'Shakin Hands with the Holy Ghost' from 'Whipporwill' on Planet Rock. They celebrated their 20th Anniversary this year. Their previous 'Live from Capricorn Studios' album with Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie fame was great, shame its only available in the US but spotify comes in handy sometimes. Diggin Petes shirt, have that flick on VHS, always liked the gnarly practical effects, wish we could return to it & reduce the amount of CG in modern films.
Great album.
Pete I dont know which albums of theirs you’re familiar with but their third album, called the whipperwill, released in 2012, is in my opinion a masterpiece the slow songs are good, but there’s a lot more rocking songs on it that just crush! It also never gets too country for my liking, as I am with you on that. Check that album out if you haven’t it’s a 10/10 with not one clunker
Killer Klowns From Outer Space! Ingenious to create balloon bloodhound to track the humans.
I've been listening to it for awhile and I agree it is ok and some is dull. I'd rate it 6/10
Do a review of Myles Kennedy’s album / The Ides of March (2021) As well as Year of the Tiger (2018)! :)
Best thing in southern rock since Skynyrd, Tucker and the Outlaws.
You might also like Whiskey Myers, too.
@@midohiobuckeyeaorwarrior9743 Do like Whiskey Myers. Have all their albums.
Check out Allman Betts band, sons of the late Gregg Allman, dickey Betts and berry Oakley. Have 2 albums out and touring with blackberry smoke this summer!
@@tylerpatterson4787 Have their albums but don't like them as much as BlackBerry.
One more band I have in mind that I just listen to recently, now I’m a fan of this band Tedeschi Trucks Band. Derek Trucks, what an amazing guitar player, now I have to check out Derek Trucks band myself now.
I”ll check out the new “Blackberry Smoke”. Thank you for this review.
All the dawn time.

Life is better with music.
didn't know them
Interesting ... I haven't listened to any of their records, just been blown away by some of their cover songs on CZcams
Yea you would like them, I would start with The album The Whipporwill which came out in 2012, then discovered the other albums before the new one. If you like Skynyrd, the black Crowes, Allman brothers then you would like this band!
Also if you like the band Little Feat
dang, there’s like 10 people in that band
Yea, they just added a percussion and another guitar player for live, since they been around for 20 years probably need bigger sound. I like that!
These Guys Have Been On My " To Check Out" List for a while...Gonna do it tonight
But still think that the album "The Whippoorwill" is their best studio album
I agree, it’s hard to pick because I love every album from The Whippoorwill onwards. The first two albums have some decent songs, but a bit country for me.
Imho this is an album that's fun to listen to. As Pete and others here have said 'All Rise Again' is one of the best songs on this album.
All Rise again is a fantastic song and Warren Haynes is like the hardest working musician out there. That’s my favorite along with All over the road, ain’t the same, live it down, and morningside. This album is an enjoyable summer time album
Don't really like southern rock. 5.4/10 for me. Judas Priest rules
Some glam metal bands were influenced by southern rock, dude. Notably Poison and Tesla. Fyi, Black Stone Cherry opened up for Judas Priest on some of their tour dates.
