Who Has The Most Fickle Fanbase? Iron Maiden, Metallica, or Dream Theater?
Rush Hemispheres too little ideas. Apollo and Dionysus sounds the same. Circumstances generic hard rock. Trees one of the most laughable lyrics. That's about commies, right? Last track is great I agree.
Thick as a brick. Hemispheres, Leftoverture, Paw Hearts
Has anybody ever heard of Midnight Oil?
1. Hemispheres 2. Leftoverture 3. Thick as a Brick 4. Pawn Hearts
Thick as a Brick is my winner.
1. Hemispheres 2. Leftoverture 3. Thick as a Brick 4. Pawn Hearts
Rush Van der Jethro Tull Kansas
1. Thick As A Brick 2. Hemispheres 3. Leftoverture 4. Pawn Hearts
#1 Thick As A Brick #2 Pawn Hearts #3 Leftoverture #4 Hemispheres Just to be clear, I love all of these albums and the rankings are certainly not meant as a knock on any of them.
Well, I'm off to listen to Pawn Hearts for the first time. Cheers!
Ken is a grump. Sorry but he ruins these videos for me!
That warms my heart.
1. Leftoverture 2. Hemispheres 3. Thick as a Brick 4. Pawn Hearts
4. Pawn Hearts 3. Leftoverture 2. Thick as a Brick 1. Hemispheres
1. Hemispheres 2. Leftoverture 3. Thick as a Brick 4. Pawn Hearts
1- LEFTOVERTURE. 2- HEMISPHERES. 3- Thick as a BRICK. 4- Pawn HEARTS. 1 and 2. Very close. Thx guys / great episode 👍💯
Favourite sophomores is vastly genre-dependent, but for metal, I propose Judas Priests' "Sad Wings of Destiny". It's still a masterpiece, even if you don't like kaftans.
1. Pawn Hearts 2. Thick as a Brick 3. Hemispheres 4. Leftoverture
1 - Rush 2 - Kansas 3 - Van Der Graff 4 - Jethro Tull Not a fan of Tull or VDG but gave them a listen.....still not a fan🤷♂️ Rush and Kansas were really hard to pick between for me
I'm a Kansas fan, but Leftoverture can't beat out Thick As A Brick(if Point Of Know Return or Song For America were here, yes, Kansas would be first). Hemispheres is 3rd(not even Rush's best album), then Pawnhearts. Love VDGG musically, but, as panel members have expressed, Peter Hammill's vocals are, at best, an acquired taste
1. Hemispheres 2. Thick as a Brick 3. Leftoverture 400. Pawn Hearts
That last minute and a half of The Wall makes it such a paramount gargantuan god album for me. If The Wall wasn't on it then yes Rush is my favorite band and Thick as a Brick is fantastic too
Now Rush is my favorite band. But... I have to say this: The fact Leftoverture has The Wall on it slays everything else. 1 Leftoverture 2 Thick As a Brick (I love Rush but this is a masterpiece more so I think) 3 Hemispheres 4 Pawn Hearts (I love VDGG, I do, but this was never a favorite of mine. I pick plenty of the other 70s and 69 material above it.)
Rush is really mostly ... boring
I really appreciate how we are all allowed an opinion. Even yours!
For me: 1. Leftoverture 2. Hemispheres 3. Thick as a Brick. 4. Pawn Hearts. To be honest I haven't heard Pawn Hearts but a few times in bits. So I'll definitely listen when I get home from work.
It's good but honestly man I think the albums after and preceding it are much better. Now remember this is definitely just my opinion loads love Pawn Hearts but ehh I think you are better off with Godbluff, Still Life and World Record.
Van DeGraaf and Tull definitely tied for first! Leftoverture to me is more of an AoR album.. never could get into Hemispheres too much.. Give me By-Tor or the Necromancer!
4. Pawn hearts (Peter Hamill) takes a little getting used to 3. thick as a brick 2. Leftoverture 1. Hemispheres. My favorite Rush album still
Maybe its odd, but I like The Least We Can Do and H to He a lot more than Pawn Hearts
You and me Colton are cut from the same cloth buddy. I concur ten fold 100%
4. Pawn Hearts 3. Thick as a Brick 2. Leftoverture 1. Hemispheres
1. Rush 2. Jethro Tull 3. Kansas 4. Van Der Graff Generator. Didn't need to think about this
The Police- I used to think I hated them until I heard their album songs. I was w-w-w-wrong! Queen- The radio songs are either not very good and don’t represent the band well or got so overplayed I never wanted to hear them again. Pink Floyd- One of my favorite bands of all time. Mostly it was The Wall radio songs that turned me off. I heard Animals and loved it. I started to listen to all their albums and became a fan permanently. Genesis- Did not care for the Genesis I grew up with in the 80’s. Once I heard what they did in the 70’s they became an instant favorite. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Greatest Prog band ever. Yes- Ok I heard 80’s Yes in my younger years and didn’t care for it at all. Heard the 70’s stuff when I was older and really liked it.
Old Man Prog has Kansas last, shocking. Missed a chance to put on his overalls. 😂🤠🎻
Hillbilly music
🤠😂
The best episode ever very interesting picks from square panel members....
Although I own all of these, I took Leftoverture out of my regular rotation after a few listens. I found it jarring and noisy. I didn't know it was widely considered in the class of the other three.
1. Thick as a Brick 2. Leftoverture 3. Hemispheres 4. Pawn Hearts
Listened to all 4 today, I am surprised with my ranking: 4. Leftoverture 3. Pawn Hearts 2. Hemispheres 1. TAAB
Really? I'd expect your results are what a broad survey of music fans would produce.
Kansas, Rush, Tull then way in the back barely getting out of the gate Vdgg
Easy one for me… 1. Leftoverture 2. Hemisperes 3. Thick As A Brick 4. Pawn Hearts Kansas’ Best album, best sounding as well. Alex’ best album? Maybe 👍
Rush Kansas Jethro Tull Van Der Graaf Generator
Day 4: The Libertines - The Libertines Day 3: Gov't Mule - Deja Voodoo Day 2: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus Day 1: Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South
1. Thick as a Brick 2. Pawn Hearts 3. Hemispheres 4. Leftoverture
it's awful, sad
Its been mentioned in comments below, but that Henry Paul Band debut is stunningly stellar - essential purchase in every way!
1. Hemispheres 2. Thick As A Brick 3. Leftoverture 4. Pawn Hearts
Geddy said the best concert he saw was Tull TAAB tour!
Can’t imagine having a collection of Prog albums without Tears for Fears in it. They are at huge fault for how I got into Prog in the first place. And I can clearly hear the Prog influences and love the complex time signatures, creativity, and the fact they make flawless albums continually. One of my favorite bands of all time.
Love Pete Pardos comical recital and take on Hot Mango Flush.
1. Hemispheres > > > > > 2. Leftoverture 3. Thick as a Brick 4. Pawn Hearts.
This Winter Machine debut album. The music was just as obscure as the album cover. I really couldn’t get into any of their albums after.
Jimi Hendrix Concerts
Really late to the party on this video. Thanks for not just the ranking, but explaining the albums. I should be the biggest Gentle Giant fan due to my love of prog and jazz, but I never really knew where to start. I'm doing the deep dive on Gentle Giant tonight. And those last 15 minutes? Awesome!
