There's certainly some bugs that need worked out on this new program. Lots of weird sounds being picked up. The sound is much better on the Zoom. Pete sounds fine, but it's everyone else's audio that is hit or miss. I know Prezzie makes things backwards, but I like the picture of the album better in the square. But again that does cut out the person sometimes too. Just my observations. Martin Popoff would not be a fan of the production. 🇹🇩

I could only come up with three that really fit the pattern: Focus, Moving Waves; Jethro Tull, Stand Up; and Gentle Giant, Acquiring the Taste. (Later: I see Pete named 2 of my 3.) I would've included Dixie Dregs, but I've never actually heard their first one.

Scoredatura/'Honest Oblivion' (2018). Unknown Australian Instrumental Prog Metal. The first album, 'Tense' is almost just as good. One of those bands, though really more of a 'project', that sounds like a lot of things, but at the same time, is like nothing else. I'm almost 63 years old and almost every time I sit down to play guitar, these guys influence me. A modern version of 70's hard rock, metal, prog, fusion, meets a stripped down version of 'djent'.

Don't think I like the new software you are using. When you display the album cover, the panel screens become so small on the left hand side. The more people in the group the smaller the heads are. Hate to think when you get a full panel with 9 people! Also the audio sounds a little more muted or bassy sounding.

    • @seaoftranquilityprog
      @seaoftranquilityprog  Pƙed 7 dny

I think we have the audio problem figured out. As for the 'images' it is what it is. Many people like seeing the album cover larger rather than holding up a CD, and the large image is only on the screen for a brief time, and not all panelists use it. The main plus with Steamyard is the video quality is far superior to Zoom, which is important.

The sound on this is a little sketchy. Sounds like the microphones are picking up any extraneous noise. Almost sounds like a television or radio frequency going in and out at times in the background. Lots of good selections by everybody. It seems like the Prog world gets better on the second album, whereas the rock albums gets worse because they used up all their good ideas on the first album and then were pushed into putting out a second album with lack of material.

Mahavishnu's Birds of Fire was immense - but not prog (not sure if fusion will also be included here). I think Pete said it himself before when discussing this album: no one had ever heard anything like it before. Inner Mounting Flame was great but this was something else. There's no way to overstate its importance in the history of music. Also one of my couple of initial 'fusion gateway' albums as a 15 year old...

.Enjoyable show, some great choices, many of my favorites. Significant groups not mentioned that might be of interest to Prog fans and worth checking out:
FM : Canadian band that toured with Rush
ENGLAND: Garden Shed and Last of the Jubblies are lost treasures of Prog; fans of Bill Bruford need to hear the drums/drummer on these two.
ENID: Orchestral Prog, first few lps are instrumental
Anthony Phillips (ex-genesis) Geese and the Ghost and Sides (michael Giles of K.C. on drums on Sides..Nightmare and Magdellen kill!
Steve Hackett: Voyage of the Acolyte (genesis members Collins/Rutherford
Tony Banks: Curious Feeling is his solo masterpiece
Maxaphone: Italian Prog similar yet different than PFM
Pekka Pojola: Finnish bass player, melodic jazzy Prog.

Transatlantic; neal morse, mike portnoy, roine stolt

  • @brotherhoodoflightshowcurr3318

Great job boys. The production value is up around 60% from the previous shows. even Ken asking for more light I appreciate his production concerns. If you’re gonna do the show, you might as well try to make it look good. unfortunately, one of the main guys on the show George has the murky weird ceiling look and a ton of glare on his album covers, including not holding them up for very long hard to see. I watched the Sabbath show with Chris Allo and he was definitely in the dark. Hop hopefully the producer will correct that. I hope I’m not asking for too much.
