    I live in Portugal and I brought one. First on Algarve. I was impressed by the press bikes on the Tour de France.
    Plus points. On local roads with gravel on every junction and slippery cobbled streets, it gives security with ABS. Goes pretty well too. Am getting the equilivent of 65 mpg. Big storage under the seat.
    Down sides. Bit slow to turn in after a two wheeler. Brakes a bit wooden. I am 182cm tall. Short riders may have a job getting a foot down. Screen a bit low for me (Tall screen option, I think. Piaggio only at this time). Had issue getting insurance as it's so new here. It's expensive,
    I love it tho

    Excellent review, not for everyone but solid review and pro's versus con's. I think that people who will buy this are car drivers fed up with queuing, car parking fees and the cost of fuel, and scooter commuters who may have a 50 cc or 125 on a provisional but have a car licence.

    The thing I’ve learned is these are best owned by experienced riders with better than average home shops because you’ll be on your own a lot for diagnostic and repairs. I build my own quite often as a hobby so im prepared for that but many are not and have difficulties

    It's perhaps the perfect commuting tool. Bikers need to get over the speed thing. That's not what this trike is about. It's plenty fast enough and will beat most away from the lights. After that it'll easily keep pace with traffic. It'll certainly be faster than my 1.6 hatchback. It looks comfortable, it has carrying capacity and it's a damn sight safer than two wheelers. If I had a straight commute to and from work I'd buy one.

    I used to have a gilera fuoco 500
    That was a great thing
    Still got my aprilia srv 850
    But thinking of going back to the 3 wheels again due to the rain in uk
    Either this mp3 530 as the dealer a 10 min walk from me.
    Or kymco cv3 if I can find a dealer near me
    Kymco cv3 looks so much better. But piaggio been making the mp3 for some time now.

  • @lifeisgoodno1
    @lifeisgoodno1 Před 2 lety +1

    You should try the the KYMCO CV3 as well with more motorcycle feeling, GT 3 wheeler with 2 cylinders.
    The Piaggio can’t compare to the Tmax , the Kymco can . I took both test ride in Paris , the only thing that Piaggio is better is the space under the seat for 2 helmets. Besides this kymco it’s better in any aspect ,
    Not vibrate as the one 530 cc one cylinder (feel this in red traffic light), the front of the kymco is more stable (reminding the front forks as Yamaha Niken). The Piaggio mp3 have strong market in France, but more fun to ride is kymco cv3

    I will go and take a test ride, tbh was missing my bike and with ill health keeping me off 2 wheels this could be an alternative. Be a godsend if I don’t have to put a foot down at lights or busy junction. Putting on stand is a concern though.

    • @danburkholder7981
      @danburkholder7981 Před rokem +1

      Colin, I'm an MP3 500 rider and, though you can activate the front-end lock as you stop, it's safer to do a foot-down stop and then activate. This is a heavy bike and you don't want to play games with the front locking. As for getting it on the center stand, it's the easiest of any bike I've owned or ridden; just lock the front end, get off and ever-so-easily lift the bike onto its center stand. Tip: I always put some friction tape on the center stand tab where you push it down. This really helps avoid any foot slippage in the wet. By the way, there's also a Multistrada living in our garage but the MP3 is more likely to hit the road. It's also a real curiosity as I'm approached all the time by curious folks when refueling.

    • @adamhughes5358
      @adamhughes5358 Před rokem

    Question why is the Piaggio MP3 550cc, Peugeot Metropolis 400, Piaggio MP3 300 Yamaha Tricity 300
    all can be ridden on a Uk car license but the Yamaha Niken GT needs a full drive license. Yet the dicence between the two front wheels looks bigger on the Yamaha Niken GT.?

    • @adamhughes5358
      @adamhughes5358 Před rokem

      It’s not mp3 530 exclusive is wider and has a foot brake and a parking brake so it is classified as a trike under license laws which means that you can drive it on a car license if passed before 2013 😊

    Some suggestions for Piaggio: Need Full GPS mapping in large screen (Glass cockpit style similar to Yamaha T-max); Missing electric windshield with wiper washer (similar to T-Max and Adiva), more torque at low revs (ideally turbo charger like Fiat Twin-air turbo), higher gearing for lower rpm on highway (ideal 2000rpm @ 120kph), electronically select-able transmission response, (sport & cruise, like Fiat CVT by using a adjustable CVT pre-load. Lifetime CVT steel belt, Convertible hard top roof for rainy days (similar to Adiva). Crash bars for protection. Its a bit too expensive. Small car is same price!

    • @motorcyclenewsdotcom
      @motorcyclenewsdotcom  Před rokem

      Yes, you can take the full A motorbike licence test in the UK on an automatic bike. You'll be restricted to automatics after that, but sounds like that wouldn't be a problem in this situation.

      @@motorcyclenewsdotcom Motor tricycles (DVLA)
      Provisional category B car licences and provisional category A licences now only cover you to ride motor tricycles if you have a physical disability. Driving tests for 3-wheeled vehicles are only available for physically disabled drivers.
      Points to note:
      Provisional B1 entitlement to ride/drive a three-wheeler has been withdrawn from all riders, even if they were using a three-wheeler prior to 19.01.13. After 19.01.13, a provisional licence will only cover riders to ride motor tricycles if they have a physical disability.
      The rules apply to all three-wheelers regardless of wheel configuration i.e. two wheels at the front and one at the back or visa versa.
      Driving tests for three-wheeled vehicles will only be available for physically disabled drivers.
      So, my mate has a physical disability (DVLA) approved.
      Driving Licence
      (Cat: AM + code 01)
      (Cat: A + code 01) Provisional
      (Cat: B + code 01/114) Provisional
      So looking at the MP3 below ( would my mate be able to ride this Without and full bike or car Licence (But under cat: A or B) as a physically disabled person.. ??????.
      my interpretation is a physical disability person (DVLA) approved. Can rid any (all) three-wheeled Bikes/trikes/tricycles (any size CC. Provided they hold Cat A or B Provisional Licence. ???
