Wish it had a bigger touchpad since both the palm rest and touchpad are just too small for your typical scrolling. My Yoga C940 14 has a bigger touchpad than this lol. You can fix the performance loss btw with with Throttlestop disabling and locking turbo boost to 45w watt TDP. Also, have you tried HDR? HDR is bugged on like almost more than half of Spectre 15 2020's out there. You'll see it lag like a beast there when other laptops with the same iGPU don't suffer from this

Would you consider going over the drawing capabilities when reviewing similar devices in the future? As a digital artist, a 2-1 laptop won’t be worth it if the pen function isn’t up to snuff. Even if you’re not into illustrating yourself, a simple test of pen sensitivity and accuracy would be very helpful.

I purchased the Spectre x360 with 4k UHD a couple of months ago as a replacement for my primary laptop. I upgraded from an 8 year old ACER so I think almost anything would have been an improvement. So far as the battery life is concerned, I can get out about 5 hours with normal usage. If I'm doing something more intense such as photo editing, the life drops considerably, but in any case, no where near the 17 hours HP advertises. I also think the webcam is horrible, especially in low light situations. I wound up buying an external cam. So far, however, I am satisfied with my purchase and with it's performance, although if I had to do it over, I would have gone with the Dell XPS-15. But so far it has handled everything I have thrown at it.

Since I use my laptops plugged in like 98% of the time, and only use them for very short periods unplugged, I don't have a problem with a short battery life. For me, a laptop battery's main purpose is to keep the machine from immediately shutting down if the cord gets unplugged causing me to lose work. Three hours works for that. I also don't mind the performance being a little lower than other laptops because I was able to get this particular laptop at a massive discount. But what is the biggest concern for me is some people reporting online that it might not work at all with some VR headsets. When I use VR, I don't need my settings maxed out: I just need something that's good enough at VR to be playable. Would this work for that purpose?

i have this laptop, bought it for design work, and tobe honest, it handles photoshop and illustrator(especially) well, i optedd for mx250 geforce (to save money) since both photoshop nad illutrator are primarily CPU and memory intensive apps. another reason is so i can pair it with a eGPU (which I have done)... and it works great. With just 2 cables (power and tb3) i boosted the power of this little laptop. There are a few things to work out, since i wanna game on it too, but other than that, I am happy. My gripes are, there is no place to hold the pen (not that big of a deal) and it seems the cooling takes way too long to cool it down other than that pretty happy. Also looks baller in any setting :D

It costs a LOT but comes with at least 16GB, you can use screen as tablet and has more powerful GPU with [if this review is anything to go by] surprisingly similar CPU performance. If llenovo c940 he showed is available in your region with dedicated graphics that might be best option to save some money [and if it has wacom might have better pen as well].

I purchased this new HP Spectre x360 15 last month, but I specifically chose the model with the IPS screen and U-processors over the higher-end configuration Matt reviewed here. And honoustly, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase! The processor doesn't throttle, because of it's lower TDP the heat management is waaay better (the fans are almost always off) and the IPS screen is also more efficient than a power hungry OLED screen. I find the battery life to be amazing: I streamed 3 hours of Netflix with the brightness set at 50% last night, and it only consumed 18% of battery life. So if you're not doing very intensive tasks, I truly recommend this laptop with the "lower" configuration :-)

The tiger lake has an intel evocore certification regarding battery life and boot up etc. The tiger lake is also 16:10 which means more room for keyboard/trackpad and has integrated XE graphics which will ensure longer battery life than what Matt got with his. After all with a 70Wh battery I might also be expecting some good duration for the battery. It might be worth a further review.

I have this exact model of this laptop. I went with the OLED screen for better colour accurate as I am a photographer. You do make a trade off with this screen as I read several reviews where people were saying that the battery life with OLED screen was worse than with LED. I use this as a student as well and for gaming. I love my spectre and wanted the 2 in 1 for tablet mode for taking notes and reading. I haven't honestly used it a lot yet and might get a small, cheap tablet just for reading because with the 15" screen, it's a bit awkward to use. That being said, I adore the screen. The computer is really fast and never unresponsive. The battery life is only thing I would change. You can change screen and battery settings to make it last longer though. It will be interesting to see how it fares when I am back in a university setting from class to class. Luckily, it doesn't take long to charge so that's a plus when dealing with a battery that dies quick.

After researching ALLL of so many laptops, I learned a lot about ram, processing speed, resolution, etc. I have 4 Dells one is desk top, an Acer, 3 HP's. And a MacBook air. None work, but HP 's, which the tops have broken from the hinges,, so I do like that the Spectra has a slight wedge like space that allows easy lifting of the screen.. The screen is crystal clear with the Oled, and I Love love the backlight, its nice and bright not over powering. The case and stylus adds added pleasure for me, as I have a little time to purchase a case. So, I suggest, get out and see, feel, for yourselves, because everyone has different interests and nit picks, that may not be your concern, such as, the stickers on the laptop...bahahahaaaa, I paid that absolutely no attention. But that's me,, shoulders hunch. I needed a speed, ram, durability, clear screen with glare protection as I wear eyeglasses, backlight as I teach and learn, using my laptop so I liked the cutesy color which will cause me to use more frequently. I did like the HP 15 Envy, it is a great choice as well, however I think the Spectra had the i7 processor and not the Envy, with it, still not bad but not Cute, oh, and I like that the Spectra is a 2 in 1, also has the camera slide, not the right terminology, but hey, I suggest you go to a good store with a knowledgeable sales representative, and tell them what YOU WANT,...worked for me, or there is return, repurchase. I within my home, HP's or the MacBook air haven't let me down. MacBook is cool as fan on any day!, just not mine, and It doesn't have a ten key pad, and I don't favor the scroll on it, or the resolution, those are my nit picks about it,, again, that's me..Happy shopping!....GREAT REVIEW, WATCH! I'll have to see about this battery life, though I did follow the directions that says to plug it in, before turning it on, and I let it stay charging. You know, when you get new electronics, you supposed to let them fully charge, to "guarantee " quality battery life. I don't know, ill update us, I'm curious as well. Oh, I did see a review on Amazon, where one was delivered damaged screen. This made me leary, however, return, is on my side, so ill keep that thought in mind, about the flicker, but I'm getting ready to enjoy it,...until next time....

Thanks for the detailed review. I was about to but this laptop but the PWM flickering just won't do it for me. Also the battery life is awful, I have watched the 13" & 14" reviews and looks like they are way better. Such a shame for such a beautiful machine - like beauty without brains lol. I hope HP does something to sort out the problems otherwise this might be one of the worst rated laptops in 2021.
