i got 18" -9js on my e46 , an intake and custom exhaust from fast lane styling and got some lowering springs 2 days ago will be fitting them on tuesday.
I did an air conditioning delete but I'm a Canadian and still wanted hot air so I bypassed the exhaust system and connected the headers straight to the A.C. ducts. Can't wait to take my new and improved ride for a drive.
Oh man, a short throw on my T5 was one of the best mods I did to my last car. It was almost entirely stock internally, but it was lowered with updated brakes, and exhaust, but driving wise, for feeling, the short throw was such a massive improvement.
I had a 2003 Defender td5, Momo nero steering wheel and an 8 Ball gearknob were the two absolute best mods [well a 190bhp ecu really made a huge difference too], it's more of a drivers vehicle than some probably give it credit for, it's basically bringing you back to 1984!
1:10 - I am so glad you mentioned this. Gives the car instantly a new and clean feel. Touching a dirty, used steering wheel is like wearing someones shoes.
The project MX-5 series was by far the most entertaining part of your channel for me. I am happy to see that it is back after a long time. Carry on Phill :)
Don't be ignorant, most old cars don't have air bags to begin with. Harnesses on the other hand are a real danger in the event of a crash. you'll either submarine and get some nice internal bleeding or get an uber cool basilar skull fracture with out the use of a hans/helmet combo.
Cut off about 12cm (5 inches) from my shifter, got nice leather cover and pedals covers. Faster shift, better looks, and finally I can perform heel&toe in my car, because designer put brake and gas miles away from each other, and that's why I put covers on. Currently saving up money for alcantara for steering wheel, thanks to you ;)
I completely gutted my interior, so there is nothing to rattle + some side effects like noticeably improved performance, braking, cornering, improved gas mileage
One thing that I did in my S2000 was fit a lowered seat rail. It drops you down about an inch of so but made a big difference to how the car felt. Well worth it.
Jamie G im 6'5. I deleted power seats for 3/4" more head room, and the seat rails have two mounting points. stock is the front one do i moved it back. i noticed no change, but now my knee doesn't turn on the wipers everytime i get in.
Things that massively helped my 1992 Honda Civic DX sedan drive better: new shift linkage bushings, a heavier, metal gear knob and a smaller aftermarket steering wheel. Things I still need/want to change: need a dead pedal (the mounting holes are there thankfully), want a short shifter, and with my small feet, I need pedal covers because, while I can heel toe downshift, its a bit of a stretch. Oh yes, and having a tachometer is also nice as well. And, I would love a set of good seats and harnesses as well.
I just got a miata The very first mod I did on it was putting in a wide/panoramic rear view mirror !! I don't know why no one talks about it, it should be the Number 1 mod to do on any car. It noly costs around 10 bucks. Improves your view of what's behind & around. It was the first mod I did on my previous car, and it will probably be the first thing I do on any car I get next! It's a must have.
what i did to my car (peugeot 106) was a new sports-interior, new wheel, better soundsystem, and some small stickers for the extra BHp :D simple and real good. besides that. just work on powershifting, and perfecting quick shifting or drifting
My favorite shift knob I ever had was a 3 dollar knob from Auto-zone. The downside to those knobs though is that they don't actually screw into place. You put a plastic sleeve over the threads on the shifter, then screw in some small screws through the base of the knob to squeeze the sleeve onto the threads. After a while it can start to wiggle. I liked this shift knob so much I said fuck it and super glued it into place.
I've installed an NTG2.5 infotainment system in my Mercedes and that's about it. The interior is now perfect. I did have an ECU remap, but that's not related to the interior. The standard seats are very comfortable and I don't like bucket seats. I like the big Mercedes steering wheel with it's buttons and shiny star. Short throw gearshifters and gearknobs are useless for an automatic. Same thing for pedal mods. My next project will be bi-xenon headlights and a front AMG-style bumper. A w203 looks so much better with an AMG bumper.
1:41 - i completely agree with it being quite an experience to grab during cold winters, especially during the first minutes when the car is cold, but on the other hand, i found the metallic knob to feel more precise, the throws felt much nicer and mechanical due to the extra weight. Drove an identical car with a plastic knob and i can say i much prefer the metallic one. i'll just have to wear a glove, lol.
When I had my 07 Sentra SER I put in aftermarket exhaust, a Cold air intake, I also put in a hands free Apple CarPlay radio, and the previous owner had aftermarket speakers put in.
For some reason aftermarket wheels don't just fit into most cars. If the interior is otherwise quite stock you should just stick with the original wheel. Otherwise it just looks too rice.
You clearly haven’t done your homework on aftermarket steering wheels my friend! There are thousands, probably even hundred thousands of wheels available. Personal by Nardi for instance is my particular favourite. Looks like it belongs there in the first place.
boosted my wagon and left it all stock because it's the Lincoln addition and it's got tons of leather and comfort but it's 400 horsepower wagon pretty badass. PS the best part is it is beige with beige interior and wood accents all over I love it.
More distinct placement of the gearstick, I guess. My sister doesn't like driving my golf because 1st, 3rd and 5th (and 2nd and 4th, obviously) feel too close to each other for her.
Nathan Soper Longer throws make the shifter lighter and easier to move around. Some people don't like short shifters because they make the shifter stiff and heavy. Short shifters also tend to be noisier and vibrate more and most car manufacturers try to tune that out as much as possible.
One I did a few years ago was put a slim pillow up against the back rest of my seat in my ford focus mk2. Much comfier than just sitting in the stock seats!
On newer cars like my Fiesta ST you can very cheaply move the pedal slightly, through the use of the spacer. I know other cars like the BRZ/FRS/86 have a more adjustable relocation kit, but it still isn't mightily expensive. I did it to my car and I love it.
I wish i could do something with the pedals in my car, brake pedal is so much higher than the gas pedal making it almost impossible to heel and toe. Also the brake pedal travel is very short and it bites at the top.
I am 18 and I was watching a lot of car videos and here is my tip for you. KEEP YOUR STOCK PARTS AT HOME. Many people think if you customize the car, higher is he price. In some cases not so when you want to sell your car put stock parts....it will be sold faster.
What about old cars then? I mean, I have a '84 Civic and I don't have airbags or rear seatbelts... If I ever come with my car, am I going to get fined? Are there old cars in Danish roads after all?
Ergonomic recommendation for any miata owner or future owner- aftermarket coilovers. The factory ones are actually harsher at only 2 kg/mm than aftermarket ones as high as 7 kg/mm.
You literally just read off the beginning of my mod list for my Civic. First thing is probably going to be some pedals, and then a wheel. Seats are expensive and I'm broke, so that'll have to wait
I agree with the sentiment but... I'm pretty sure Seatbelts protect u more than airbags. And Anti-Locking brakes are probably just as important. Imo aftermarket steering wheels are only ok for 2 situtions: 1.) Your old Airbag is damaged and it just costs way too much to replace it. 2.) Trackcar with 6-point harness.

please don't buy aftermarket steering wheels for daily street cars, that airbag is there for a reason
ico9750 Plus on cars with wheel mounted controls, you lose a lot of functionality

"Most old cars" what if you are in a new car?
5 point minimum harness for me, submarining avoided. I'd say avoid a cage for a daily, can do more harm than good without a helmet for sure.

How about getting rid of interior rattles? especially on daily drivers.
i know HOW to do it. I was suggesting it as a better idea than some of the ones they featured...

For some reason aftermarket wheels don't just fit into most cars. If the interior is otherwise quite stock you should just stick with the original wheel. Otherwise it just looks too rice.
do whatever u want even if its rice fuck u
Lol a steering wheel rice? You are the definition of an idiot. Its not a race inspired cosmetic enhancement. It actually helps YOU handle.
i don't think a 1947 1.3L beige shitbox with faded dash and a fart can is gonna have a need for an ergonomic high performance steering wheel.
PS the best part is it is beige with beige interior and wood accents all over I love it.
with short shifters, I've never understood why some cars have such a long throw as standard? what benefit is there to this?
More distinct placement of the gearstick, I guess. My sister doesn't like driving my golf because 1st, 3rd and 5th (and 2nd and 4th, obviously) feel too close to each other for her.
I dont think there is one, its just the way the transmission works.
yes could be that I suppose. needs more precision on the part of the driver but allows much better speed and performance.
Nathan Soper Longer throws make the shifter lighter and easier to move around. Some people don't like short shifters because they make the shifter stiff and heavy. Short shifters also tend to be noisier and vibrate more and most car manufacturers try to tune that out as much as possible.
KentB27 yes that must be true I suppose since there is more distance from the pivot point and hence less force needed.

You literally just read off the beginning of my mod list for my Civic. First thing is probably going to be some pedals, and then a wheel. Seats are expensive and I'm broke, so that'll have to wait
Aftermarket steering wheel and lose the one thing that protects you the most...AIRBAGS
Most old cars didn't come with air bags to begin with. What's the point in not doing so in such a scenerio.
This video isn't about old cars, it's about cars in general...
some old cars didnt come with a seatbelt either, why wear seatbelts?
I agree with the sentiment but... I'm pretty sure Seatbelts protect u more than airbags.
And Anti-Locking brakes are probably just as important.
Imo aftermarket steering wheels are only ok for 2 situtions:
1.) Your old Airbag is damaged and it just costs way too much to replace it.
2.) Trackcar with 6-point harness.
If you have race seats with harnesses...you won't need an airbag

I have to agree that removing the airbag for an aftermarket wheel is a bit stupid, unless we're talking about a track car with a rollcage and harness.
just don't crash then lol
You can't lose your airbag if your car didn't have one to begin with. *tips head*
Also there are some aftermarket wheels that reuse the factory airbag, trim and buttons.
