Neatherrealm really likes sabotaging good characters and story lines it seems. They really preferred to humiliate this character who had such a positive and fresh impact on outworld and the politics in the mk universe. Then they completely castrated the dude in this entire game. Remember in his reveal trailer where he got bodied by Jacqui. Its fuckin ridiculous they'd rather reduce him to a pure pussy and let Kitana become leader of yet another fucking realm. Kotal Kahn and his treatment is a testament to NR's inability to truly move forward and stop relying on that UMK3 cast.

He wasn't a warmongering dickhead, who pays no attention to his empires structure or prosperity. like Shao Kahn. Kotal is the kind of ruler who understood the strengths and weaknesses of his underlings. Kotal even told Reptile Shao Kahn was being half a retard for sending him in on multiple battle based missions, when his real skill was in espionage. All of his underlings actually respected Kotal as a leader unlike Shao Kahn who they feared. Him losing to Kung Jin is a product of horrible writing and the atrocious chapter based story. As for attempting to appease Shinnok that was kinda contrived seeing as Kotal could have teamed up with eathhrealm again, however if there was a scenario where an obviously superior being is threatening all the realms and has some kind of reason or sense, Kotal would definitely try to appease them if fighting them spelled certain defeat for outworld, However if he feels like the person is beyond reasoning, or that there is a chance of victory then he would fight for a free Outworld. It's all about keeping Outworld safe.
I'm just wondering why the hell Takeda isn't in the game. He's not only easily the best written character in the Neatherealm era, but was looking to be one on the best written characters in MK history. Easily top 5. You'd think Neatherealm would actually use one of there few well written characters, yet somehow Takeda doesn't even make the roster. Despite having so much character development given to him in MKX that it was looking like he was going to be the main character of MK11. And the aftermath ending looks like it's leading to MK12 being a prequel, so we likely won't even get to see him in another story mode. Takeda was there chance to get away from depending on that UMK3 roster. Use him as a solid main, and build around him with your new characters like D'vorra and Erron Black. Bring back a couple fan favorites from the 3d era, like Havik, Sareena, Nitara, and Onaga. Maybe even a shujinko lol. Build from there. Show us some of the other elder gods. Explore more realms than just Earth, outworld, and a tad bit of Netherealm. How about some Chaos and order realm for a change Supremely disappointing. You struck out with Kotal, destroyed sindel's character, did a "meh" job with most of the Kombat kids, finally struck gold with Takeda, but you don't even use him!?
I like how outworld people instantly turn on their leaders. They happily switched when Shao Kahn came back and took out Koatal in mk11 story, cheered when Kitana became Kahn, and instantly accepted and rallied when Shao Kahn took the ships in aftermath. These guys don't care who is in charge. They're just happy to be part of a team.
Seems like Outworld politics are tied to the philosophy of "The strongest leads." Hell, Baraka didnt want to give Kitana the time of day til she beat him. "You have EARNED the right."

NetherRealm is always praised for their stories but they never make any sense. The character’s power levels fluctuate like mad. They win/lose depending on the “plot.” It’s so hard to get attached to Kotal or Baraka (my two favorites) when they’re so incompetent. Bet you’d never see Scorpion get washed like that.
That along with the enormous amount of retcons here and there are really what I seriously don’t like about Mortal Kombat. They keep forgetting what their characters can and can’t do and they are inconsistent like hell about their own characters’ power level like how Shao Kahn literally got dragon punched by the power of multiple gods and lived to getting “killed” by fucking Kitana of all people. Kotal went from being able to kill Reiko, ripping Goro’s arms off and killing his father to getting clowned on by Jade of all people. Sheeva and Shao Kahn were also leaders like Kotal so they made more sense but still. Even though I did lose respect for him when he was about to execute the Tarkatans again when they were innocent in the current timeline since it basically made him look like a Shao Kahn ripoff, he really didn’t deserve getting all the humiliation he’s been getting lately.

I never understood why they did Kotal so dirty. In MK X he dominates Rain and Meleena, to then later somehow get beaten my the kid monk, like.... how? It's especially annoying because of how fuckin badass looking he is and that fact he's fuckin awesome to play in the games. Growing up without a father, due to Kenshi not knowing of his existence until he was older. (To be fair, the mutha f#cka's blind. So Kenshi, for his new found son, swears to get revenge on the red dragon. He goes to find the killers and entrusts Takeda to Hanzo Hasashi. Scorpion, in the phases of rebuilding the Shirai Ryu, raises him and teaches him to in his arts. The character conflicts you can have between Takeda, Scorpion, and Kenshi and having that build Takeda's character is endless. Possibly Having some Resentment with Kenshi for choosing to seek revenge instead of staying and being his father. Even Seeing scorpion as more of a father figure than Kenshi. Kenshi feeling heartbroken that his attempt to do something for his son only grew them further apart. It literally writes itself. As I said, Have that as a base and build around it with fan favorites like havik. Give us some new realms instead of the typical Earth, Outworld, and occasional Netherealm in the last 3 mk games. Hopefully NRS somehow surprises us. Maybe make shang tsung's Aftermath ending actually canon. Lol I don't know.

To be fair, I think Kotal should lose to Shao. Shao Kahn is supposed to be an absolute powerhouse; vanilla MK11 seemed to forget that with the bs of Kitana toppling him (they could've at least made her get a magic power boost, maybe even from her own revenant, to be able to fight on par with him or whatever), but at least Aftermath remembered it. However, Kotal should've never lost to Kung Jin and Jacqui, considering how powerful he was portrayed in the comics. I think it's just the whole problem with how the new timeline has structured its story mode in general; the good guys always win against whoever, and so many bad guys get relegated to jobbers just so you can fight them. Personally, I kind of preferred Aftermath's over 9 - vanilla 11's stories; at least the characters you played as in Aftermath are all powerhouses in canon, so it's more believable they can win most of the fights they did. And when Sheeva faced Kotal, he was pretty much a bed-ridden version of himself, so it made sense for her to be too much for him there.
It would’ve been cool if the blood magic was his way to leveling the field at least. Or is it too far fetched if he became an actual Sun god. Also crazy how he brought small weapons to fight someone with a magic power hammer instead of his big sword.

Kotal is the kind of ruler who understood the strengths and weaknesses of his underlings. Kotal even told Reptile Shao Kahn was being half a retard for sending him in on multiple battle based missions, when his real skill was in espionage. All of his underlings actually respected Kotal as a leader unlike Shao Kahn who they feared. Him losing to Kung Jin is a product of horrible writing and the atrocious chapter based story. As for attempting to appease Shinnok that was kinda contrived seeing as Kotal could have teamed up with eathhrealm again, however if there was a scenario where an obviously superior being is threatening all the realms and has some kind of reason or sense, Kotal would definitely try to appease them if fighting them spelled certain defeat for outworld, However if he feels like the person is beyond reasoning, or that there is a chance of victory then he would fight for a free Outworld. It's all about keeping Outworld safe.
I'm just wondering why the hell Takeda isn't in the game. He's not only easily the best written character in the Neatherealm era, but was looking to be one on the best written characters in MK history. Easily top 5. You'd think Neatherealm would actually use one of there few well written characters, yet somehow Takeda doesn't even make the roster. Despite having so much character development given to him in MKX that it was looking like he was going to be the main character of MK11. And the aftermath ending looks like it's leading to MK12 being a prequel, so we likely won't even get to see him in another story mode.
Takeda was there chance to get away from depending on that UMK3 roster. Use him as a solid main, and build around him with your new characters like D'vorra and Erron Black. Bring back a couple fan favorites from the 3d era, like Havik, Sareena, Nitara, and Onaga. Maybe even a shujinko lol. Build from there. Show us some of the other elder gods. Explore more realms than just Earth, outworld, and a tad bit of Netherealm. How about some Chaos and order realm for a change

They happily switched when Shao Kahn came back and took out Koatal in mk11 story, cheered when Kitana became Kahn, and instantly accepted and rallied when Shao Kahn took the ships in aftermath. He killed king of the Shokan, Goro's father, he beat reiko, Nd many more MK characters. Seeing him treated as jobber like this is disrespectful to his character. How dare NRS make Kotal, one of MK's most badass and powerful characters, and reduce him to nothing but jobber.

NetherRealm is always praised for their stories but they never make any sense. The character’s power levels fluctuate like mad. They win/lose depending on the “plot.” It’s so hard to get attached to Kotal or Baraka (my two favorites) when they’re so incompetent. Bet you’d never see Scorpion get washed like that.
Except with D'Vorah for some reason. Matches him in battle in MKX and then kills him in 11.
That along with the enormous amount of retcons here and there are really what I seriously don’t like about Mortal Kombat. They keep forgetting what their characters can and can’t do and they are inconsistent like hell about their own characters’ power level like how Shao Kahn literally got dragon punched by the power of multiple gods and lived to getting “killed” by fucking Kitana of all people. Kotal went from being able to kill Reiko, ripping Goro’s arms off and killing his father to getting clowned on by Jade of all people. Sheeva and Shao Kahn were also leaders like Kotal so they made more sense but still. Even though I did lose respect for him when he was about to execute the Tarkatans again when they were innocent in the current timeline since it basically made him look like a Shao Kahn ripoff, he really didn’t deserve getting all the humiliation he’s been getting lately.

Growing up without a father, due to Kenshi not knowing of his existence until he was older. (To be fair, the mutha f#cka's blind. Lol I probably wouldn't know how many ladies I fornicated with if I was blind and looked like Keanu Reeves too lol🤣).Then His mother being killed by the Red dragon. So Kenshi, for his new found son, swears to get revenge on the red dragon. He goes to find the killers and entrusts Takeda to Hanzo Hasashi. Scorpion, in the phases of rebuilding the Shirai Ryu, raises him and teaches him to in his arts.
The character conflicts you can have between Takeda, Scorpion, and Kenshi and having that build Takeda's character is endless. Possibly Having some Resentment with Kenshi for choosing to seek revenge instead of staying and being his father. Even Seeing scorpion as more of a father figure than Kenshi. Kenshi feeling heartbroken that his attempt to do something for his son only grew them further apart. It literally writes itself. As I said, Have that as a base and build around it with fan favorites like havik. Give us some new realms instead of the typical Earth, Outworld, and occasional Netherealm in the last 3 mk games.
Hopefully NRS somehow surprises us. Maybe make shang tsung's Aftermath ending actually canon. Lol I don't know.

MK only likes Retcon/Sindel and Dvorah for when they want to get rid of characters and the Special Forces because they would push shitty boring humans who can only fight with guns, tech and 11th hour superpowers while suddenly forgetting about the guy who was trained by Scorpion and who's dad is a blind telekinetic samurai and the Shaolin Archer who feels he has big shoes to fill.
No they love D'Vorah to no end and that's one of many reasons why she's number 4 on my most hated villains of all time
Kotal never stood a chance ever since he let Kung Jin get one over on him. He never should have been Kahn since he wasn’t ever going to be on or around Shao’s level and if he was, she should have been killing fools left and right.

Yeah. Even if plots demands it, you can make it so that Kotal doesn't lose the fight but he's impressed with Kung Jin skills (granted he has any) and grants his request.

And even when he did have a chance to kill someone, he told D'vorah to do it. To me, the marked him as a weak leader in my eyes. Him willing to let Kung Jin kill him after ge lost to him marked him as a weak character in my eyes.
When aftermath came out and I saw Kotal getting healed I was like, “hell yeah they’re going to redeem this dude”. Then I saw his damn head rolling off the ship XD I couldn’t help but be like, “awwwwwwww dammmnn WASHED”

To be fair, I think Kotal should lose to Shao. Shao Kahn is supposed to be an absolute powerhouse; vanilla MK11 seemed to forget that with the bs of Kitana toppling him (they could've at least made her get a magic power boost, maybe even from her own revenant, to be able to fight on par with him or whatever), but at least Aftermath remembered it.
However, Kotal should've never lost to Kung Jin and Jacqui, considering how powerful he was portrayed in the comics. I think it's just the whole problem with how the new timeline has structured its story mode in general; the good guys always win against whoever, and so many bad guys get relegated to jobbers just so you can fight them.
Personally, I kind of preferred Aftermath's over 9 - vanilla 11's stories; at least the characters you played as in Aftermath are all powerhouses in canon, so it's more believable they can win most of the fights they did. And when Sheeva faced Kotal, he was pretty much a bed-ridden version of himself, so it made sense for her to be too much for him there.
It would’ve been cool if the blood magic was his way to leveling the field at least. Or is it too far fetched if he became an actual Sun god. Also crazy how he brought small weapons to fight someone with a magic power hammer instead of his big sword.

Really hoping MK1 does a better job with this, because MK has some of the coolest villains in fighting games, yet they're revealed to be weak af in the stories.
