Its because they designed him to not care about anything really. Like not even really about taking over the realms. Like he knew he was in a video game but still didn't care because when he ruled there we would be next. He just didn't care because he knew sooner or later... he's coming. He wins and there is no stopping him maybe slowing him down but never stopping.
The one villain made Shao Kahn shaking his boot. Made his return in Deception and played Shujinko like a flute. Too bad he never return in the new timeline. Ultimate villain in Mortal Kombat and way stronger than Shao Kahn. 10/10.
I think MK9 ruined him honestly. How the fuck did Shao Kahn escape and kill Onaga, run back to the Pyramid, kill about half the fighters, kill Blaze, obtain the ultimate power and then kill everyone? It literally made no sense to me.
Onaga should have been the villain in mk 11. We could've had an epic story of dark raiden and the revanents forming a reluctant alliance to stop onaga from merging all realms and becoming the one being. Instead we got stupid time travel nonsense and all the iconic villians became fodder *cough shao kahn.

And then MKX was trying to put as much effort as possible not to be MK4, while at the same time being exactly as MK4, with additional characters from further games. These last games were nothing but a repetion of the OG games, albeit with modern consoles. The only major difference is that they're making the roaster be whatever character survived in the story mode.

MK deception was dark! My first introduction to a mortal kombat game. In the story mode it felt like there were no good guys and every character had their own agenda. That dark overtone is what’s missing from current mk games.

One thing I love about the concept of Onaga was it wasn't one person's power that defeated him, but the combination of all the mk warriors. Kamidogu Onaga that is.
10/10. Big, powerful, fearsome, intelligent, cunning, and looks/sounds amazing. Onaga is an ideal villain who was allured to in previous games, and boy did his entrance live up to the lore's hype. Very underutilized after Deception, but his role as main villain in that game alone made him unforgettable, AND his boss fight is a challenge no matter the difficulty setting. What a champ. All hail the Dragon King.
The way they’ve been giving Kung Lao the “angry second fiddle” gimmick I wouldn’t be surprised if he either sided with Onaga or be the one to defeat him.

Shao kahn:He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his trone, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice poisoned him. It's ironic he could ressurrect others from death, but not himself. Shang Tsung:...Is it possible to learn this power? Shao Kahn:...Not from Raiden.

Onaga: solos Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Raiden without a single scratch using the Kamidogu. Even without the gods' tools he's still one hell of a monster making Shao Kahn scared to fight him head on. Kronika: Loses to Fire God Liu Kang who is only empowered by regular Liu Kang, revenant Liu Kang, and Raiden even with her own crown, her own loom, and Cetrion's essence. Without all of those she was nearly killed by Shang Tsung, Raiden, and Fujin. Yep Onaga would totally rape Kronika. She's a joke which is the unfunny one just like her writers.
Onaga is the Mortal Kombat universe’s version of Thanos and the six Kamidogu are MK’s versions of the Six Infinity Stones (Space, Reality, Power, Soul, Mind, and Time). I’d rate him 10/10
Obviously retcons, but I say he saw Khameleon and since his body was Reptile's he just had to smash, so he flew to the ground to do snu snu with her. As Onaga was doing the dew, Shao Khan managed to escape.
Many people don’t know this but after his defeat in deception his soul was casted away in the nether realm and he met Shinnok. Shinnok made a deal to restore onaga to his throne in outworld and his escape if Onaga helped Shinnok himself escape by attaining the real amulet,which is an amulet shinnok himself created to embed his elder god powers within. Most of shinnoks elder god power is transferred to the amulet so the elder gods cannot strip his power. Onaga did agree to serve Shinnok in order to escape but while onaga did lose to kahn in Armageddon he believed he could win. Onaga actually worried about Shinnok and the threat he posed to Onaga himself and all the realms far more than onaga worried about shao kahn. The fact that onaga even briefly served Shinnok proves that he respects and somewhat fears Shinnok’s power. It also speaks worlds how onaga viewed kahn so beneath him and still worried about Shinnok it also implies Shinnok is above them both not only shao kahn. Yes,Kahn did defeat onaga in Armageddon j the end but onagas servitude to shinnok however brief implies onaga believed him to be his own superior. He would never verbally say this but his actions on agreeing to serve the elder god speaks worlds. Onaga understood that like him,Shinnok if left unchecked is cape able of taking over everything. The true reason shinnok did not fight shao kahn himself in mk4 or mkx is bcuz while shinnok can defeat shao kahn he would be wounded and would not be able to war on the elder gods once again and would eventually be defeated if shinnok wasn’t at full power. He needed to reserve his strength and use the jinsei as the boost he needed to defeat the elder gods. Cage power is the only thing that can stop Shinnok. Liu kahn only defeated shinnok bcuz he did not have the real amulet in mk4 And shinnok would’ve won had he have the real amulet and his full power.this is confirmed By John vogel.
Watch mk12 butcher him by having Devorah be the one to “actually” poison and kill Onaga and then he just a bigger dumber echo fighter of new timeline shao khan
8/10 to deceive someone their whole life and have that much effect that Shao Kahn had to sneak you. You must be pretty powerful I just wish there was more of him.
10/10 secret final boss badass. Personal issues with his proportions. His hands look too big, his tail too short, his wings too small, his horns just weird. But ignoring visual presentation, *THIS* is a video game boss.
Not in NRS' era though because they would ruin him and make him a joke like Shinnok by having him lose to a character who he shouldn't have any problem in dealing with like Cassie, Jacqui, or Kitana (female character is the most likely given how woke NRS currently is)
Best part is that if you go through the lore in Deception's Konquest mode, you get the idea that Outworld was a good and prosperous realm while Onaga was in power, indicating that Onaga was actually a kind ruler. Shao Kahn was Outworld's guardian god (similar to raiden) and was onaga's advisor, but Shao Kahn was overtaken by the consciousness of The One Being and his lust for power drove him to challenge Onaga for power. Onaga allowed Shao Kahn to challenge him and if Shao won, he'd be given the throne. Onaga fucking WASHED Shao Kahn over and over again, which is why Shao Kahn needed the backup plan of poisoning him to kill him. When Onaga is returning to power through Shujinko's timeline of events, during the prison sequence, Damashi changes his tone and become willing to hire mercs to get the quest done. This is because with Shao Kahn dead (or nearly dead in the GC version), The One Being guides Onaga's spirit not only to revival, but to use the Kamidogu to bring about the return of the one being. I seriously think Onaga would be an excellent gray morality character akin to Kotal who wants his realm safe but doesn't join either side outright.
That's why I would consider do Onāgá in my fanfics. If Sindel was ruined by NRS, then two can play that game. I made prequel trilogies with Lucifer still ruler of Netherrealm and I am currently doing one on the Red Dragon. Once I'm done, I would do several fanfic sequels where I will involve the non-canon/minor characters from (films, comic books, defenders of the realms, conquest, legacy even games). Believe me, I can't guarantee they will be perfect, but I'm just doing my best to meet fans' expectations.
I was hoping Onaga would be the boss of MK11 or at least would've been set up as the boss for the next game. Needless to say I was bitterly disappointed.

We already did,if you played mk deception,his back story was literally told in the game,he was the former ruler of outworld,of a powerful army,that he has to the power to constantly resurrect them from the dead,with his own heart,which made him unbeatable until shao kahn poisoned him and stole the throne.
Imagine the re-creation he would look like in MK11 be so damn badass, creepy and very dangerous even the Demi Gods feared him (the likes of Raiden) even the Sorcerers under Shoa Kahn also feared him too a extent he really should return and since the time lines where messed with by Kronika i will not be surprised if he did Onaga the true King and Rightful Ruler of Outworld and beyond but yeah IMAGINE the new look he would of got in MK11

Giving Onaga a solid 10/10 Dude MADE Quan chi terrified and it took the power of MULTIPLE fighters and more to keep him in the neatherrealm. I also don't get why he needed to work with ANYONE in Armageddon, dude could probably body most anyone in the cast, maybe going to a tie with Shinnok or Blaze. it's a shame he isn't used in the current timeline, he's THE boss of the series.

Onaga the Thanos of Mortal Kombat. Onaga defiently had a great build up,Shao Kahn only beat him by poisoning him,Shao Kahn Mortal Kombat's most iconic villain feared him.Heck Shujinko and Scorpion were stated to be the only ones to do some Damage.Imagine if MK9 story mode was instead trying to prevent Onaga from destroying the realms. Onaga might be an unstoppable beast if before he merged the Kamidogu's he first kills Blaze at the battle of Armageddon and then merges the Kamidogu to become the one being. Yeah think about that,if that happened Onaga would be able to do anything,if Onaga had that power he would kill Kronika in a second than after becoming keeper of time he recreates the entire universe to how he see's fit,Onaga becomes the ultimate DEVINE ONE BEING. Give Onaga some respect he makes an epic debut in Decption's intro and his plan goes perfectly,he has Shujinko collect all the Kamidogu and becomes so close to being the Ruler of Outworld and all that exsists. His Armageddon ending he finally get's revenge on Shao Kahn.
Excellent video as ever you do. MK6 Konquest mode is the best of the all franchise. I enjoyed a lot exploring MK universe with Shujinko and played after having done all missions.
Onaga was Mortal Kombat's version of Ogre before Kotal Khan. Even better, he looked like a fusion of Ogre and True Ogre. Sadly, just like Ogre in Tekken, his actual game appearances and relevance to the plot is next to nothing. Both characters were hyped up as being one of, if not the most powerful villains in their respective series only to be quickly cast aside and forgotten in favor of newer AND older villains. Seriously, why wasn't this guy in the latest MK game? To my knowledge, he only makes a cameo appearance in some random ending where he's just killed off like a joke. I guess he at least has a chance of returning in a future installment (unlike Ogre, who has seemingly actually been erased from the series canon).
I've always wanted there to be a third elemental god for water like Raiden and Fujin. Raiden being thunder and Fujin being wind, having a water based god would form a storm trio. Also with them being water based you could finally introduce Chaosrealm since they worship water. Possibly make the water god female? Having all three storm gods team up to face Onaga would make a great hook for MKXII (mk12). Also having a subplot for Shujinko and finally having Edenia restored would be nice.
Rating wise I give him a 6/10 and I think that is generous, bc he honestly didn't have a huge role, or rather they never expanded on his role like we all thought he would have. I think he has the potential to have a higher rating no doubt, with some revamping but its unfortunate, bc Onaga's debut was BOSS. -When he walked down that hallway, he commanded respect, he NO SELLED one of MK's most dangerous foe's attack and continued to NO SELL the combined attack of arguably some of the Most Powerful characters in the series. -Also in future installments, we need to build Onaga up right. I think Shao Kahn should be the villain as always but over the course of a cpl games, it is revealed that Onaga is planning his prophesied return, and when he does, he is coming for Shao Kahn and then all who will stand in his way.
Who even knows what’s canon, maybe both are canon but if that’s the case then Shang tsung is the big bad in mk12. If it’s not him than it’s probably goro since Liu Kang is going to be in the Great Kung Lao days
I really want to see a video on Reiko. Imo in a reality where Havik indeed was telling the truth, Skarlet's ending in MK11 would basically have been "Reiko's Blood Reigns". I'm still shocked he and Havik were in no shape or form mentioned in that ending after they had a big influence on the "Blood God" concept in general.
4:23 Fighters Den I have a theory What if Shao Khan sent a clone into armageddon and just hid himself away claiming all the souls of those who died during armageddon and then waited until the remaining warriors were either dead, wounded or too exhausted and had their numbers thinned out enough for Shao Khan to kill them all by himself(we see in the armageddon into and in after math Shao Khan is MORE than capable of fighting multiple opponents.) What if when the Onaga carried the clone far away he got duped into escorting himself too far from the pyramid giving the REAL Shao Khan the time needed to claim the prize while liu was fighting Raiden (also seen in aftermath)I can see Shao Khan being cunning enough to do this. There were so many people there (good examples being: Deadly Alliance, Onaga Liu Kang Shujinko, Shinnok.)willing and able to kill him it makes sense why The only missing plot hole is Taven either Shao Khan killed Taven or Taven died fighting blaze. But it's the only thing that makes total sense
I was never a fan of Onaga, I always thought he looked like something out of World of Warcraft with his huge hands and feet. Over time though, I'm slowly coming around. Sensing the hype and respect for him among the fans really has me doing a double take.
Man, I love Deception and Onaga. I personally believe that Netherrealm is afraid to show Onaga beating the shit out of Shao Khan because he’s the ultimate MK boss. I do like Shao Khan (he’s in my top 10), but Onaga is THE man. Imagine a MK game that starts with an epic fight between the two and Onaga wins. Them, the entire roster of MK is forced to join forces against Onaga Avengers Infinity War/Endgame style. That would be so epic.

10/10. Big, powerful, fearsome, intelligent, cunning, and looks/sounds amazing. Onaga is an ideal villain who was allured to in previous games, and boy did his entrance live up to the lore's hype. Very underutilized after Deception, but his role as main villain in that game alone made him unforgettable, AND his boss fight is a challenge no matter the difficulty setting.

Onaga is the Mortal Kombat universe’s version of Thanos and the six Kamidogu are MK’s versions of the Six Infinity Stones (Space, Reality, Power, Soul, Mind, and Time). I’d rate him 10/10
Obviously retcons, but I say he saw Khameleon and since his body was Reptile's he just had to smash, so he flew to the ground to do snu snu with her. As Onaga was doing the dew, Shao Khan managed to escape.

Many people don’t know this but after his defeat in deception his soul was casted away in the nether realm and he met Shinnok. Shinnok made a deal to restore onaga to his throne in outworld and his escape if Onaga helped Shinnok himself escape by attaining the real amulet,which is an amulet shinnok himself created to embed his elder god powers within. Most of shinnoks elder god power is transferred to the amulet so the elder gods cannot strip his power. Onaga did agree to serve Shinnok in order to escape but while onaga did lose to kahn in Armageddon he believed he could win. Onaga actually worried about Shinnok and the threat he posed to Onaga himself and all the realms far more than onaga worried about shao kahn. The fact that onaga even briefly served Shinnok proves that he respects and somewhat fears Shinnok’s power. It also speaks worlds how onaga viewed kahn so beneath him and still worried about Shinnok it also implies Shinnok is above them both not only shao kahn. Yes,Kahn did defeat onaga in Armageddon j the end but onagas servitude to shinnok however brief implies onaga believed him to be his own superior. He would never verbally say this but his actions on agreeing to serve the elder god speaks worlds. Onaga understood that like him,Shinnok if left unchecked is cape able of taking over everything. The true reason shinnok did not fight shao kahn himself in mk4 or mkx is bcuz while shinnok can defeat shao kahn he would be wounded and would not be able to war on the elder gods once again and would eventually be defeated if shinnok wasn’t at full power. He needed to reserve his strength and use the jinsei as the boost he needed to defeat the elder gods. Cage power is the only thing that can stop Shinnok. Liu kahn only defeated shinnok bcuz he did not have the real amulet in mk4 And shinnok would’ve won had he have the real amulet and his full power.this is confirmed By John vogel.

Best part is that if you go through the lore in Deception's Konquest mode, you get the idea that Outworld was a good and prosperous realm while Onaga was in power, indicating that Onaga was actually a kind ruler. Shao Kahn was Outworld's guardian god (similar to raiden) and was onaga's advisor, but Shao Kahn was overtaken by the consciousness of The One Being and his lust for power drove him to challenge Onaga for power. Onaga allowed Shao Kahn to challenge him and if Shao won, he'd be given the throne. Onaga fucking WASHED Shao Kahn over and over again, which is why Shao Kahn needed the backup plan of poisoning him to kill him.
When Onaga is returning to power through Shujinko's timeline of events, during the prison sequence, Damashi changes his tone and become willing to hire mercs to get the quest done. This is because with Shao Kahn dead (or nearly dead in the GC version), The One Being guides Onaga's spirit not only to revival, but to use the Kamidogu to bring about the return of the one being.
I seriously think Onaga would be an excellent gray morality character akin to Kotal who wants his realm safe but doesn't join either side outright.
I love that he just flexes on you in the deception intro by resurrecting Shang Tsung & Raiden knowing they still can't beat him.

I made prequel trilogies with Lucifer still ruler of Netherrealm and I am currently doing one on the Red Dragon. Once I'm done, I would do several fanfic sequels where I will involve the non-canon/minor characters from (films, comic books, defenders of the realms, conquest, legacy even games). Believe me, I can't guarantee they will be perfect, but I'm just doing my best to meet fans' expectations.

We already did,if you played mk deception,his back story was literally told in the game,he was the former ruler of outworld,of a powerful army,that he has to the power to constantly resurrect them from the dead,with his own heart,which made him unbeatable until shao kahn poisoned him and stole the throne.
Now that we are going back to the great kung lao era in mk12 I’m betting onaga is villain of the story.

Dude MADE Quan chi terrified and it took the power of MULTIPLE fighters and more to keep him in the neatherrealm.
I also don't get why he needed to work with ANYONE in Armageddon, dude could probably body most anyone in the cast, maybe going to a tie with Shinnok or Blaze.
it's a shame he isn't used in the current timeline, he's THE boss of the series.

Onaga defiently had a great build up,Shao Kahn only beat him by poisoning him,Shao Kahn Mortal Kombat's most iconic villain feared him.Heck Shujinko and Scorpion were stated to be the only ones to do some Damage.Imagine if MK9 story mode was instead trying to prevent Onaga from destroying the realms.
Onaga might be an unstoppable beast if before he merged the Kamidogu's he first kills Blaze at the battle of Armageddon and then merges the Kamidogu to become the one being.
Yeah think about that,if that happened Onaga would be able to do anything,if Onaga had that power he would kill Kronika in a second than after becoming keeper of time he recreates the entire universe to how he see's fit,Onaga becomes the ultimate DEVINE ONE BEING.
Give Onaga some respect he makes an epic debut in Decption's intro and his plan goes perfectly,he has Shujinko collect all the Kamidogu and becomes so close to being the Ruler of Outworld and all that exsists.
His Armageddon ending he finally get's revenge on Shao Kahn.

I enjoyed a lot exploring MK universe with Shujinko and played after having done all missions.
Onaga was Mortal Kombat's version of Ogre before Kotal Khan. Even better, he looked like a fusion of Ogre and True Ogre. Sadly, just like Ogre in Tekken, his actual game appearances and relevance to the plot is next to nothing. Both characters were hyped up as being one of, if not the most powerful villains in their respective series only to be quickly cast aside and forgotten in favor of newer AND older villains. Seriously, why wasn't this guy in the latest MK game? To my knowledge, he only makes a cameo appearance in some random ending where he's just killed off like a joke. I guess he at least has a chance of returning in a future installment (unlike Ogre, who has seemingly actually been erased from the series canon).
I've always wanted there to be a third elemental god for water like Raiden and Fujin. Raiden being thunder and Fujin being wind, having a water based god would form a storm trio. Also with them being water based you could finally introduce Chaosrealm since they worship water. Possibly make the water god female? Having all three storm gods team up to face Onaga would make a great hook for MKXII (mk12). Also having a subplot for Shujinko and finally having Edenia restored would be nice.
You should do MK what if videos. It would give you almost endless content.

Rating wise I give him a 6/10 and I think that is generous, bc he honestly didn't have a huge role, or rather they never expanded on his role like we all thought he would have. I think he has the potential to have a higher rating no doubt, with some revamping but its unfortunate, bc Onaga's debut was BOSS.
-When he walked down that hallway, he commanded respect, he NO SELLED one of MK's most dangerous foe's attack and continued to NO SELL the combined attack of arguably some of the Most Powerful characters in the series.
-Also in future installments, we need to build Onaga up right. I think Shao Kahn should be the villain as always but over the course of a cpl games, it is revealed that Onaga is planning his prophesied return, and when he does, he is coming for Shao Kahn and then all who will stand in his way.

I really want to see a video on Reiko. Imo in a reality where Havik indeed was telling the truth, Skarlet's ending in MK11 would basically have been "Reiko's Blood Reigns". I'm still shocked he and Havik were in no shape or form mentioned in that ending after they had a big influence on the "Blood God" concept in general.

What if Shao Khan sent a clone into armageddon and just hid himself away claiming all the souls of those who died during armageddon and then waited until the remaining warriors were either dead, wounded or too exhausted and had their numbers thinned out enough for Shao Khan to kill them all by himself(we see in the armageddon into and in after math Shao Khan is MORE than capable of fighting multiple opponents.) What if when the Onaga carried the clone far away he got duped into escorting himself too far from the pyramid giving the REAL Shao Khan the time needed to claim the prize while liu was fighting Raiden (also seen in aftermath)I can see Shao Khan being cunning enough to do this. There were so many people there (good examples being: Deadly Alliance, Onaga Liu Kang Shujinko, Shinnok.)willing and able to kill him it makes sense why
The only missing plot hole is Taven either Shao Khan killed Taven or Taven died fighting blaze. But it's the only thing that makes total sense
I was never a fan of Onaga, I always thought he looked like something out of World of Warcraft with his huge hands and feet. Over time though, I'm slowly coming around. Sensing the hype and respect for him among the fans really has me doing a double take.
Man, I love Deception and Onaga. I personally believe that Netherrealm is afraid to show Onaga beating the shit out of Shao Khan because he’s the ultimate MK boss. I do like Shao Khan (he’s in my top 10), but Onaga is THE man. Imagine a MK game that starts with an epic fight between the two and Onaga wins. Them, the entire roster of MK is forced to join forces against Onaga Avengers Infinity War/Endgame style. That would be so epic.
