It would be more fun if Portuguese from Angola or Mozambique got involved.
I agree
And if the sound samples were actually audible...
I can differentiate most of them based on the pronunciation of the letter S --- when it can be even heard.
I'ts no easy, the Chanel is based in Korea , so...
Sotaques desses paĂses nĂŁo Ă© tĂŁo diferente do PortuguĂȘs de Portugal...
and there are people in Goa, India who still speak Portuguese. I'd like to see them involved in this as well.
An Indonesian here. Itâs really interesting to know that PT-PT pronounces âPortugalâ with the letter L and BR-PT pronounces it as âPortugaoâ. My first tiny exposure to BR-PT was from the comic âMĂŽnicaâ (Indonesian: Monika) that I often read in my childhood đ
monica that had cebolinha, cascĂŁo etc? đ
Turma da MĂŽnica is such a classic. I collected some as a kid.
Wow. I didn't know that Monica comics was available in other countries. Amazing.
@@sambado - It was also sold here in Portugal but she was called MĂłnica and not MĂŽnica. I grew up with those comics, "O SĂtio do Pica-Pau Amarelo" and later on with "Gabriela, Cravo e Canela", "A Escrava Isaura", "A Tieta do Agreste", etc. đ
It is a classic! It's common for people to know the comics in Indonesia or it's something more personal?
Bring Miguel to more videos, he seems very chill and nice.
We Brazilians need more exposure about Portugal, for sure.

About Italy, I don't know if Italians have in mind how much Brazilians like Italian culture, much more than Portugal, perhaps because of the more than 30 million Italian descendants in Brazil.

@@HenryReisP vdd, eu sou portuguesa do sul e nĂŁo entendo as pessoas do extremo norte

I don't know Portuguese so this video should be irrelevant to me... but I really liked it đ
I'm Brazilian, I've never been to Portugal but I've followed and to this day I follow some Portuguese react channels that I find fun and I think that's why I can understand Portuguese from Portugal perfectly, this interview with Ronaldo I understood everything and I was wondering how they couldn't understand him, but it's explained. I've always had contact with Portuguese through CZcams, so I can understand.

They obviously understand, this is just a non-sense joke and exaggeration....they even say they don't understand an accent from Rio!!!
Eu consumo quase zero de conteĂșdo de Portugal e entendo perfeitamente. Sempre entendi.
Ronaldo is from Madeira. Their accent is not the same as SĂŁo Miguel, which has the hardest accent of all island regions. When people refer to the islands and an accent being almost unintelligable, they are talking about the Micaelense accent. I learned the hard way from a very young age, as when I was speaking with my family I never had any issues. The minute I spoke to other Portuguese people they look at me like I'm an alien.
As a Brazilian who have lived in Portugal for 8 years, I can understand them pretty well and I love their accents, especially the one from Porto.
as a portuguese from porto, thank you :) i really enjoy the brazilian accents and the exposure that portuguese gets thanks to brazil
Miguel looks so tired of their comments poor guy đ
they are just mocking him now.. I am brazilian and I find it super easy to understand portuguese people
This "Brazilian Team"With "Julia and Friends"are Amazing...
for me, I'm just happy to have some portuguese representation :D but Miguel is right, we in Portugal have so many content from Brasil for so long that is much easier for us to understand. We speak lower, we close our mouth, very nasal and we do "eat" vowels. But I still love my language
as a portuguese from porto i can say that i don't speak lower but maybe that's just here in the north idk
Brazil is big country and the popupation is also big , they may have different accent over the country , but none of them is similar to the Portuguese from Portugal or other countries whose language is Portuguese
"Carioca"and "Manézinho"are More Close to Portiguese from Portugal....
Of course that Brazilian accents are very different from the portuguese ones and the portuguese ones are very different from african countries (and they are different from one another) and portuguese accents from Portugal (we have 35) are different from one another, the same way brazilian ones, are.

Iâm Brazilian from the North of the country (BelĂ©m-PA) and I understood all the Portuguese videos, including the Ronaldo interview.
I am Brazilian and I understood everything in European Portuguese like???? It wasnt even that hard, come on
Iâm Canadian born to immigrants from Azores, Portugal. Iâm married to a Brazilian. When I speak Azorean Portuguese to my wife and mother in law, they understand me fine and I understand them too. Donât understand why some struggle to understand the same language just because of a different accent. I have friends from Angola, main land Portugal and Brazil. I understand them and they understand me. And, I donât arrogantly think I speak better than they do and make fun of the way they speak. Also, I speak Canadian English. Have no problem understanding Scottish English, Irish English, Australian English and even American English with all its various accents. Accents donât change the language. Itâs just a slightly different pronunciation. If we listen carefully and put things into context, understanding the same language with a different accent shouldnât be that difficult. Stay humble and donât assume your way of speaking is better than others.
HĂĄ o resto do paĂs e as ilhas.

JĂĄ a gente nĂŁo.

It is so funny how different these 2 accents are. And I feel a little less bad after going to Portugal and struggling to understand them (despite being fluent in Spanish) now that I know even many Brazilians can't understand them eitherđź
Edit: you can "understand" a language without being fluent in it... I know Portuguese and Spanish are not the same language, but without factoring in accents, they are very similar (90% similar)
That's because in Portugal they speak Portuguese not Spanish đ if you come to Brazil and try to understand what we are saying you won't understand neither
Edit: sorry if I sound rude
@@Omouja well, I forgot to say that I actually thought I understood Portuguese well because I listened to Brazilian Portuguese before going to Portugal. Yes, sure, it's easier to understand
If a Brazilian hears Galician, for them it is simply Spanish, they say they don't understand Portuguese because they almost never heard Portuguese speaking and it's just to demean and make fun of Portugal!
galician is almost like portuguese with a european spanish accent.
Actually, he said Daniela Ruah and not Melchior, a different Portuguese actress who also had some success in the US.
Unlike what most people might think, there are many accents in Portugal, not just in Brazil. A person from Porto doesn't speak the same way as someone from Alentejo, even if Lisboa and Coimbra accents sound more similar you can tell which one is it in certain details and how they pronounce the letter "e" in words like coelho, vermelho. Even in the North they're not exactly the same, someone from Braga has a slightly different accent from someone from Porto. I'm sure all Portuguese know the Viseu accent (Bijeu xD) that is spoken by people of the Viseu area but not from Viseu itself! The islands' Portuguese are also different, as he mentioned, but it's not like we can't understand them, unless they're from Rabo de Peixe, now that's almost a completely different language that needs subs. I wouldn't say Cristiano Ronaldo has a strong Madeira accent, it's just that his shs are way too strong.
Iâm learning Brazilian Portuguese but have recently started listening to videos in Portuguese from Portugal. I donât generally have a hard time understanding what theyâre saying - itâs still the same language to me. I also listen to other variants such as Portuguese from Angola or Mozambique. The linguistic variety is fascinating!
You are learning portuguese its the name of the language. European, Brazilian, Angolan, etc... refer to the accents and regional slang not the language itself

There was an exaggeration in the video. It is possible to understand European Portuguese very well, especially Cristiano Ronaldo. For me it is difficult to understand older Portuguese people who use inland dialects. There is some difficulty in different words and the recent inclination of European Portuguese to devour vowels and syllables... like in Portuguese the word C O L E S T E R O L, the Brazilian will pronounce all the letters, the Portuguese will say C O L S T R O L... even writing the same way

Really good đ
Passando pra dar meu apoio
I once heard a guy, when Portugal won Euro 2016, a VERY happy portuguese dude shout "Pourtougalllll" at the screen. Dunno what region he originated from.
Nenhum brasileiro entende
NĂłs nĂŁo somos obrigados a entender
NĂŁo somos obrigado. Euem.
e diferente, poder e querer sao diferentes
Ronaldo lost his original island accent because they bullied him in Lisbon. Nowadays he speaks with a Lisbon accent.
"It's hard to understand"
"Because he's from Rio, that's why."
"But I'm from Rio too!"
ahsuahshushasua
Brazil can have very different accents even inside the same region, so it's not uncommon for people to go visit a nearby city and be like "I can't understand wtf these people are saying".
i thought Brazilan Portuguese and Portuguese is like British & American or Bahasa Indonesia & Bahasa Melayu. Just some words are different but they still know and communicate each other.
Yes its exactly the same.
I love this videos â€â€â€
European Portuguese sounds fast and sharp, while Brazilian Portuguese sounds slower and mellifluous.
Lovely accents đ„°
Quem concorda... deixa aquele "joinha" TMJ

This video was great, you should try to do this with spanish speakers from different countries and see if they can guess the +20 spanish accents. Use videos from the tricky ones like Central American accents , cuba/puerto rico, canary islands, and maybe argentina/uruguay (I know it's basically the same but different country)
Eu sou brasileira e entendo perfeitamente o sotaque portuguĂȘs, carioca, paulistano, pernambucano, etc. AtĂ© o sotaque de colono, do interior do paranĂĄ dĂĄ pra entender.
If the Brazilian think that Portuguese accents are hard to understand, they should listen to people from Sao Miguel in the Azores đ
5 portuguese speaking people speaking english is peak portugal actionđđđ
6:52... they were talking about "Velocidade Furiosa"... the movie series.. "Fast and Furious". She is an actress and part of the cast of "Fast and Furious 10". Daniela Melchior is from Almada.
Iâm from Portugal and I can understand Brazialian Portuguese
Se for legendado todo mundo entende. A lingua Ă© a mesma.
10:28 look.. I lived in Brazil for some time. Although they may appear to speak fast, the fact that they exagerate in the adjectivation and take a lot of time circling around before getting to the point + they open all vowels, which forcibly extends every word (and sometimes and a tchiii at the end)... they say much less stuff (content-wise). So, it is easy for a Portuguese to get it while multitasking. :) I remember long conversations with my friends of Brazil, while drinking beer (Skol, Brahma, Itaipava, Antartica...), we could talk for hours about several things and hours would pass without noticing (except the mosquito bites adding up). Perhaps in Portugal all the conversation would be done after the first 30 minutes or after the first couple of beers (unfortunately). Oh, I should add this: those guys were not used to my Portuguese accent (and joked about a supposedly "ora pois" that every Portuguese would say - NOT!). Yet, after the first week, they could actually understand me nearly with no problems. Same for me, as some "carioquĂȘs" is extremely hard to understand (I remember a mini bus driver talking to me when I asked if it was heading to town X, and I could not understand a single word, so I shrugged and thought, OK, I'm on the right road, he's facing the right way, it must be going where I want :D).
