Disney tried to prove that it didn't need Depp for PotC, Depp in turn is proving that they do in fact need him for PotC. Fun fact, Depp still likes dressing up as Captain Jack to meet with children dying because he likes helping them.

A good gauge of how well it'll do is look at Aquaman. The sequel did half of the original so this POTC will do half of the last one meaning maybe $500 million.

I can’t fathom how a board of executives could possibly believe that a PoTC film without Jack Sparrow could do anything other than bomb completely. From someone who has been a fan of the films since childhood, I have absolutely ZERO interest in any film from this franchise without Johnny Depp.

They've certainly earned THAT right. I've been boycotting them for years now and I don't even miss them. No films, DVDs, games, gifts, action figures- NADA, NOTHING, ZIP, ZILCH. Gifts I buy NOW come from Dior. Dior is far more worthy than disney.

Jack Sparrow is as iconic a character as Mickey Mouse. To overplay Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow by another actor is a challenge, let alone have POTC without Jack Sparrow's character.
It could work. You just never know. Most movie goers don't comment on CZcams and join social commentary or follow celebrity news. They just buy a ticket to be entertained.

All this says to me is that Disney is simply spinning their wheels, yet going nowhere, its just like the Star Wars movies, they are incapable of getting going, and when they get something going, it then falls apart because they haven't addressed the real issue, which is the fact people have certain requirements, pirates, they want JD, Star Wars, Luke Skywalker, being a actual hero, not some bum who drinks blue or green milk and stays upon an island in the middle of nowhere, maybe Disney should start hiring real creatives, not fakes who are there to write a load of garbage, have no experience with the property or do not care about it, in the slightest and only see it as a means to shout their politics which people are sick and tired of!!
This is clearly one of those Actor Choices that will stick to his Promise and has valid reasons in it, if the Pirates Movies were to continue without Deep, they should make it unique and not with Margot in It.

Johnny depp literally made those movies so I just don’t get the idea of making new movies with a new lead and it’s not because it’s a female lead character it’s because there’s literally no point of making a reboot with these movies especially since the series is not that old itself like the last movie is 7 years old if it was 15 years old that’s a different story and yes I get this is a billon dollar making franchise and Johnny not gonna always play this character but sometimes it just best to let franchises end.

a weird little known fact from a FFXIV player : one of the big bad guys (my darling rogue) called emet-sech was based off of jack sparrow. the art director/creator loved jack enough to try to make a character with similar traits etc. ES was "aloof" sharp witted sarcastic as hell and intellegent in his own way. and he was a walking talking tragedy.
So... basically sounds like a reboot for an audience that doesn't exist but Disney thinks does so will continue losing money to chase that nonexistent audience.

How is he "allergic to money" where he has been literally through Hell & back from the amount of backstabbing he faced? He learned to become humble, save up the amount of money he gained from the trial, and not be in debt again from his purchases. Reboot as in 'no returning characters', or as in 'completely new universe'? If it's the latter they're out of their minds. Worse than Johnny simply not returning is, in addition to that, creating a new universe with no connections to the films everyone loves. If they can't get Johnny Depp back, the best they could do is make individual, self-contained spinoffs. Like a movie about Annamaria from the first one with Zoe Saldana, maybe a movie about the mermaids from the fourth one, perhaps a movie about young Bootstrap when he left Will to go pirating.
I refuse to watch any more reboots, remakes, or reimaginings. Come up with some original ideas or make room for others who will.

I don’t agree that Margot being in Barbie wasn’t a factor that made it so successful. Amy Schumer was originally going to star in that film and I can’t imagine Barbie being as that big of a hit with Amy Schumer being the lead. Margot’s involvement absolutely contributed to Barbie being a hit

I'm honestly not surprised that Disney isn't picking up Margot Robbie's film as Disney on several levels is trying to hit on someone when they are the it thing and Robbie outside of the Barbie movie anything she's been featured in hasn't done well without a great of help. That said Disney is absolutely gonna have to take a chance on someone new and hope they found the next Jenna Ortega.

I'm currently writing a novel (action-adventure/explorer genre) and Act 1 and 2 is the premise of your story and act 3 is kind of the answer to your premise. You CAN'T have a good ending if your premise isn't properly executed. The only logical explanation is that act 3 is polished, 1 and 2 not yet but there is a good idea of a premise, just not polished yet. Either that or..... well it's Disney after all, they hire Tumblr scriptwriters that never even heard of the Hero's journey or the word story structure..... that's on top of nothing working logical at that mentally ill company so yeah.... there is that.
