On this week's episode of Chasing Chrome, I head to downtown Seattle, in washington state to go pink salmon fishing! During this absolutely epic time of the year we get the amazing opportunity to go fishing for and to target pink salmon here in washington state as they make their way from the pacific ocean into the various local rivers and streams to spawn. In this video, I go over my basic setup that I use to catch pink salmon here in washington state, and also end up catching a nice one, and show it to you guys underwater with the aquaview cam! I hope you guys enjoy this pink salmon fishing video here in washington state! Be sure to sit back, relax, and don't forget to subscribe for more videos like this one!

Man this video is so well done, you're making the rest of us look bad Brian! If you could put a bunch of marbles in your mouth before you speak... Add some ums and uhhs... I'd sure appreciate it! Excellent video from intro to end. #brianmonticello #chasingchrome
Brian must be cool if Blake is jealous of him.
I grew up in the Puget's Sound country and live on the Skagit River. Last year I beached over 100 fish. Legally. Much different than beach fishing on the Sound. I do that, too. Both on the beach, and from a boat
Advice from an old fisherman, after you bleed them, get them on ice as quickly as possible for a quality product.
Yesssir Brian with a banger! 🔥🔥
Glad to see these salmon videos again.
Great work. Glad to see you back in action
Wooooooooooohoooooooo first one Of 2021😍😍 #number1fan
Good content Brian keep them coming
Hey man! pretty awesome vid, do you still fish around Seattle? I live up near Carkeek and was wondering if you've had success there. I used to spin but now fly!
It’s really nice . Salmon so fresh.
Nice, I was standing a bit to your right when you caught that fish. Saw the fish jump and glad you got that on video.
That’s awesome!
Can’t wait going to sooke next week so stoked…
Awesome video and nice job on the first salmon of 2021
Thanks Josh! More to come!
Nice man that was great!! Just moved here last year. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you! And that's awesome! Time to get out there on the water! I moved here back in 2018 and have been loving it :)
@@BrianMonticello yeah man I got stationed here last July. Ready to hit the pinks this year
@@outdoorproductreview let’s go! Tight lines!
Cool man ,clear water and nice pink salmon
can't complain! :D
Great video 🤘
Nice one bro! I appreciate the bank fishing content for us boatless fishermen 😎
Hell yeah! We got to stick together
Awesome i'm on board!
Nice pink, good catch watching here all the way from Victoria BC
That’s awesome!!
Slaying kings on the s River.
What size hook are you using?
Got my first at South Whidbey couple weeks back! Only me there on a Saturday. This is crazy busy for weekday.
Nice!! And yeah haha even before 6!
Awesome video! Really inspiring. I am going to try salmon fishing for the first time this year. Quick question for ya! Do they bite in the evening as well or just in the morning there?
Awesome! And yup they do! I do better in mornings by far tho
@@BrianMonticello nice thanks man! Also what brand of waders do you use? Are they connected to a boot or do you wear water proof boots with your waders? Trying to figure out what to get for myself.
The season is just warming up! 🔥
Hey hey man, are u still around Sea-town area??
Nice job next time you'll get two. I'v been going for coho off shore at possession point state park.
And what park are you in? Only Pink you go after?
Nice! This was by Lincoln park, pnp is good!
See you out on the beach!
Say hi next time!
Awesome video, Do spinners work for salmon off the beach? I always only see buzz bombs and twitching jigs/hoochies.
I’ve never caught a pink on a spinner but I’ve definitely caught coho off the beach with a spinner - check out my video I made catching a nice coho off the beach on a spinner - Chasing Chrome Ep 1!
@@BrianMonticello Thanks for the info. Nice coho in that video too. I will give it a shot and report back. Got some pink flying c’s to toss around, cant hurt to see what happens haha. I can always go back to twitching pink jigs if its not the day haha.
No why yo name Brian an my name is Brian that’s awesome 😂 also nice video
Nice work!
Thank you! Means a lot from y’all
Absolutely man, keep it up! Good to see them starting to show. I plan on hitting the north beaches soon
@@HolyMolyOutdoors perhaps might need to collab eh?
Sounds good to me man
Since it’s an even year and the pinks won’t be running much, I was wondering if this works well for coho as well when they’re running. I fish the rivers frequently but wanted to try this for the first time this year.
From the shore, you can cast a green/pink/blue/white rotator or buzz bomb and catch them! Or you can even use a spinner! Check out my video I posted fishing from shore on Whidbey Island using a spinner, hooked into a fatty coho! But I'd say the most popular thing to throw is a green/white rotator. can get kings on them too! Good luck!
@@BrianMonticello awesome, just checked it out, thanks! I know better than to ask for spots and frankly prefer finding my own since learning how to identify a good spot is 100x more useful than just being told, so I’m wondering: to what extent does the proximity to a river/stream mouth affect the presence of coho this close to shore? Im assuming that finding them from shore is more of a crap-shoot earlier in the mid-late summer and gets more predictable as runs begin in sept/oct (A)?
@@shorecasted9295 Depends on the system, south sound there is a lot of fishing near rivers and creeks and if you can get access to a river mouth that is in the path of the fish, that can do great as well. But for most north/central sound fish, the trick is to look for bits of land that jut out into the sound. The best shore fishing is from Whidbey Island beaches, but those get crowded. You absolutely can catch fish from shore on the mainland. I've seen nice Coho jump pretty darn close to shore at places here. Keep tight lipped if you finda good beach!
What are some other great fishing spots in Washington?
There’s SO many, get out there and explore! You can also use fishbrain to get a ballpark idea too
It's hard to tell what technique you are using. Are you reeling / light jigging?
Yeah I realized while I was editing I never explained the technique haha I’m doing short little twitches (pop-pop, pop-pop) while constantly reeling slowly
@@BrianMonticello Awesome - thanks!
@@kielanlemoine-kowalski3628 I’ll explain it for you in the next one :)
Would this area still be pretty good to fish for pinks around the end of September?? Or would a different spot be better?
Pinks probably won’t be too nice around end of September this far downriver, if you find any they’ll probably be complete boots
@@BrianMonticello ok thank you! Any places you would recommend for late September?
I was like this place ain't as busy as I thought it is, then you said it's a workday lol
Haha yup! That was this morning
@@BrianMonticello I went to a spot (that I'm sure you know) by taking the ferry this monday. Lots of good actions there. Someone else hooked a Chinook but got taken away by a seal on their second cast
@@user-cm7hs2we9l oh dang! I was there last weekend ;)
@@BrianMonticello yeah it was my first visit, got 3 bites and 1 pink in 4hours (2hr before and after high tide). I wasn't aware there is like 100ft of private property on that beach lol, it was super random
But if you wanna find someone to fish there together I'm happy to do meet and fish. Im on the Eastside and normally fish during the weekend too.
@@user-cm7hs2we9l oh nice! East side gang. Also yeah that house is like the unspoken rule to not fish in front of it haha but tbh it’s all bs imo
im looking at my spinning rod right now
I need help to get started fishing
How do you make your own jigs with yarn?
I can definitely show this in a video if you guys are interested, but basically just take a thin piece of glo yarn and I tie it to the jig with thin pink sewing string the same way you would tie it on a fly, and then add some super glue or boot glue to secure it!
I’m from the Northeast moving to Seattle Washington next month. Is this the only kind of good fishing out there?
Salmon steelhead trout are pretty solid around here
Nice is that area still open?
Area 10
Nice catch and this is very cool video, SUBBED, wish to watch you more and often!!!
Thank you! Means a lot, and stay tuned! New video next week with some incredible underwater fight footage incoming!
Where’s a good place to catch pinks ? I live in Vancouver Washington
You’re so close to the Columbia I’d be focusing on the kings!
Man I need to do some sea fishing I've never done it
its my favorite!!
@@BrianMonticello I've never done it but I've got my saltwater endorsement on my license hoping I'd actually get to this year, but traveling is hard when you're broke.
@@catch22fishing65 nice! Tight lines!
Better be careful leaving your camera on the beach in seattle 🤣
And regarding saying you're at Lincoln Park... In the end, it doesn't even matter.
Yeah exactly haha! Can't get any more combat haha
(that's a lincoln park reference)
@@lotsofducks6234 OMG I totally missed it!! Haha that was actually really good lmao
Btw I’m going to be a bank salmon guy! I usually do striper fishing on the beach. Seems similar on a smaller scale.
I grew up striper fishing jersey shore!
@@BrianMonticello yes sir!! Jersey here too!!!
@@brendanwoerner3352 oh sick!!!
@@BrianMonticello yea I’ll hit you up in October when I get there. I’m not sure what’s running there. I need a substitute for plugging stripers!
@@brendanwoerner3352 oh October is prime for COHO! Def will fill the void
Do you need a salt license to fish there?
Yes, lots of regs in WA state
Thanks man for answering me I really appreciate it.
Pink come back every year. The big run comes on odd years.
Oh interesting! I didn’t know that haha that actually makes sense thohgh
@@BrianMonticello I've caught a few on off years.
@@duckwacker8720 nice!
Fishing a buzz bomb will double your chances. You cast further and also have a chance at a silver. Also don't stand in water as silvers will chase your lure to shore. I have had many silvers beach themselves with out even getting hooked. Never stand in water unless you have to wade out 50ft because of shallow water
Those are great tips! I like to wade out so when I fish the jig I can cast it out a little further. I actually cast just as far as the buzzbombs when I wade out a few feet with such light line. But you’re definitely right too, I’ve had them hit me right at my feet! I guess I just like fishing the little jig better, never really been a fan of the buzz bomb
Lincoln park is ridiculous not as bad as Spokane street. Trying to get to west shithole is a pain in the ass.
!! Hahaha yeah esp yest on the opener
Where would you recommend someone troll for pinks right about now?
I don’t have any experience trolling for them from boats but I see them doing it around all the points in the puget sound, Lincoln, dash, three tree, or you can go north and troll around pnp, bush point, etc
Yo have you tried redondo
Not this year yet! Wbu?
Yay caught a king and ive seen quite a few coho caught
@@abramgarrity7559 nice!!!
Redondo, pink got caught on the beach?
@@SuperKimtuan i fish of the boat launch but the beach can be a good place for pinks
Where you at Bush last Sunday? Drive a Bass Ass Challenger there?
That was me! Haha
@@BrianMonticello I was to your right. Talked with you guys briefly. I was in line in front of you on the ferry and noticed the Red LED lights as we loaded. Wow! Thanks for the vids. I need river help so I look forward to those vids. I don’t keep, but enjoy catching.
@@bobgomavitz1330 that’s so awesome!! Haha that mod was a big PITA but looks dope haha

You should get a boat, way easier!
One day! Haha I just have a love for catching fish from shore idk what it is
Takes the fishy flavor out of fish?
Yeah like the fishy metal taste from the iron in the blood
Do you need a salt license to fish there ?
Yes, you need a license to fish any body of water mostly in WA state
@@BrianMonticello I know you need a license, what I’m asking is do you need a salt water license to fish that body of water your fishing, or can I just use my freshwater license for it
@@sergiooliver5207 puget sound is saltwater, so you need a saltwater license
