I’m sure they do realize most indies suck and fail. They’re businessmen they know the market is flooded and there is a lot of junk out there. But they also know with one success they could make a fortune. They just don’t know games and would have no idea what would potentially be successful or not.

Why does this feel like you're watching a presentation from 1st year art school students who were forced to make video game trailers as a project?
^ same type of person that complains that AAA slop is simply trying to have the best graphics, but balk when they see a low-poly game because it doesn't appeal to them personally

@@NetBattler Yeah, graphics aren't why these games looked amateurish. It doesn't matter what a game looks like, but if it's a piece of okay art with no good gameplay, than I have no interest in it as a videogame.

I think there was only 3 games that I would actually play from this list
alot of these games just feel lifeless, most of them were like borswer games or mobile cash grabs. A few did feel like they have heart in them but that was barely a hand full

I go into these with zero expectations and often I am mildly amused by one or two entries.
Those 2 secs of capybara on a screen were the most existing moment for both gaming shows.

So many devs wants me to wishlist their game, it's starting to scare me. Why do you *really* want me to wishlist it? What are you really getting out of it? At this point, I'm convinced it's more than just a gauge of interest.
If they get a a certain amount it's easier to secure funding from publishers/investors.
It gives them visibility and secures more purchases in future. Wishlisting AAA or big studio games is pointless but wishlisting indie or solo dev game you find interesting can help.
It's like subscribing to a channel, helps the algorithm and higher chance for people to buy the game in the future.
What do they get out of it? numbers to report to their financers, free advertising on steam.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but not a single game on this show looked interesting to me.

Entire Summer Games Fest has been a dud so far.
Monster Hunter Wilds makes it a win all on it's own. No matter what else could have been shown everything else becomes irrelevant in comparison.

Played starship troopers extermination already.. it's fun building defenses and holding the perimeter clear of those damn bugs 😂 but I played it really early back than it still needed work and fine polishing some kinks. But it's fun to play for a while and like a game to play if you need a break from something else 🤔 hope they get johnny Rico in it.

@@TheMaw365 well yeah, I think targeting a niche, making a product that appeals heavily to smaller demographics is something that AAA studios would benefit from massively. A lot of people are curious about what a AAA 300+ game studio would do with niche genres. I guess Kojima is the closest thing we have - the studio released a next gen AAA game that was basically a walking/delivery man simulator, and that's great. we want to be seeing more of that - but with investors vetoing any idea that isn't already proven to be a viable success or money printer, it's going to remain incredibly rare.
