Finally a video that shows the reality of most homeowners. THANK YOU!
Not sure why yours is the only video that shows this trim technique around a bifold door. It looks awesome! I've done it a couple of times now, and it's the only way I'll do it moving forward! Thanks!
This video deserves more than a thumbs up. Dude nailed it. Great job
Thanks. Good explanation of the process.
Great instructional video! Thanks.
This video is everything! I had come into a small issue with the bifold doors as the door size was a tad smaller than the frame. Your video is the only video that I have come across with such a simple solution! Thank you :)
Gluing the block to the floor was a great tip! Thanks!
Glad it helped! If you have the time, you should let them set up for a day before screwing into them. I had to wait a day to finish the video to let the liquid nails dry.
Just completed this kind of trim install thanks to you and I'm very happy with it. Thank you!
HEY BUDDY.. GREAT VIDEO. IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING A CLOSET IN BASEMENT. BIFOLD DOORS ARE NOW READY TO INSTALL. YOUR ADVICE WILL MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER.. THANKS VICTOR
Awesome, glad I could help!
Excellent video! Very simple and too the point. I just installed 1 set of bifold doors perfectly, however the second set has a side gap due to my contractor. I have searched for a simple way to hide the gap and was unsuccessful until I came upon your video. As a novice do it yourselfer your video saved the day.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the great video. This was really helpful for my first bifold door install.
This was extremely helpful, thank you so much.
Thanks, very helpful.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Very good video, the best that I have found.
Thanks Roger! Glad it helped
Great video. Thx.
Great vid -- really appreciated the fine detail on how you did the casing. That's a part so many videos gloss over. Would have liked to see the "snugger" your doors used -- that part seems to vary with different brands of doors. But still, incredibly helpful video!!
Glad it helped Jeff!
Thx, I was stumped.
Thanks for sharing the info. Good value adding video
Good tips, thanks.
Dude. . . . Are you using stilts? Not many people can nail the top trim while stand on the ground.
I'm pushing 6'5". It's not too high from my point of view 😉
He is my daddy, I can promise you he is very very tall
Well, son, the test results are in. And I can promise you that I am indeed NOT your daddy. But I do hope you find what you are looking for...
@@LifeofBliss Ooh no Daddy, mummy said it was you.... looking forward to a beer soon.😂
Well now I'm just confused 🤔😁 but as long as you're buyin, I'm down!
Out of curiosity, when the doors are closed, how much is the gap between the door and the trim along the sides?
The door should slide in behind the trim. Theres probably 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch between the edge of the trim and where the door panel is
So you put a 3/4 inch block on the bottom to allow for carpet & underlay correct? What if you're putting down linoelum? Would you recommend a wooden block as well (if so, how thick?)or just direct drill into the concrete? (if the latter, what screws would you recommend?)
Yes and no. The doors would need to be raised for carpet, but that can all be adjusted with the bottom pins if need be. This was more for giving the bottom brackets something to screw into. Honestly that's a good question... I would say the brackets need to be installed after the flooring is done vs before like I did with carpet. And yes, drilling into the concrete would be the way to anchor them. Some of the smaller Tapcom screws would work good for this (all blue concrete screws).
Life of Bliss Thank you for the quick reply.
Would you drill a pilot hole into the concrete first?
Most (if not all) tapcom type concrete screws require you to drill a pilot hole first.
installing the 3/4" thick wood block takes away the clearance to properly install the bifold door unless you had taken this thickness into consideration when you made the rough opening!
I have laminate over concrete..what screws would. I use for the floor bracket?
You could use some smaller tacom concrete screws
How tall are you
About 6'5"
HELP!!!! We trimmed the doors, installed them after several measurements and cuttings and now they're crooked AH!! They're the Reliabilt doors, we got them Lowes...How do you adjust them to get them straight?? Hubby seems to think it's because the frame is not level but I don't know about that. Do they have an adjustment at top & bottom or just the one on the bottom? It's a freaking mess and if I could, I would take them back. They're cut straight so that's not the problem..it must have something to do with adjusting. We purchased 3 sets, that's over $300 & now it's just a mess, so disappointing 😔😒
Sounds like maybe the doors weren't installed completely level and square. I would suggest getting "door hangers" from Amazon or home depot to attach the doors in the opening. Allows you do really fine tune adjusting them before shimming and nailing in. My first few doors weren't the best either... hope you get them straightened out!
