    Dodge’s 707-hp Hellcat engine suggests that it thinks about power a little differently than most of its competitors. But using that engine in a 3-row crossover might have struck even hotfoot parents, not to mention anyone worried about mileage, as a little too much. So for 2018 the Dodge Durango welcomes a new SRT trim with a 475-hp V8 as well as standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a reversing camera across the lineup. More athletic trims also get a new hood with vents.
    The Durango offers three engines. A 3.6-liter V6 with 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque offers best-in-class towing at 6,200 pounds. The R/T gets a 5.7-liter V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft that provides towing capacity of 7,400 pounds. And the SRT’s 6.4-liter V8 makes 475 hp and 470 lb-ft and offers 8,700 pounds of towing capacity, also best in class. All Durangos use an 8-speed automatic, and all trims except the SRT are available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive; the SRT is available only with all-wheel drive. Not a FCA fan but totally agree that this is by far the best 3 row vehicle in RT or SRT guise. RWD based and an amazing sounding engine. Great interior as well

    Naturally aspirated V8, RWD, and sounds fantastic. These are great characteristics to have. The exterior design however is really starting to look dated. IMO. It really hasn't changed in over 8 years. Can't wait to see something fresh and new from Dodge. Great review Mike!

      canonlybeme4life Citadel does get it at least, though I failed to mention it. But still, if you don't anything other than 7 seats and a V8, you shouldn't have to jump up to Citadel.

    My SRT didnt come with leather wrapped dash but in the 19's it does. My 2nd row entertainment system is great but it comes with knock off headphones. Why it dont have aux cable plugs or Bluetooth capability for headphones for bluetooth ? Would be much better. My RT was a great ride i always had a combines 19.5 mpg driving 500miles every week i sometimes have up to 24 being from 6000 above sea level to 500 above. My SRT however gotta fill it up on my round trip back.

    Anyone notice when Mike gets in the 2nd row his legs are jammed right into the back of the front driver seat that he had configured for himself? This is something everyone ignores in the Durango and Grand Cherokee, the 2nd row legroom isn’t great in these.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins Před 6 lety +1

      Riyad Kalla To be fair, I'm 6'4". No car has great 2nd-row leg room for me.

    • @rkalla
      @rkalla Před 6 lety +2

      Michael Perkins ahh ok that’s a fair point. I’m 5’11” and wanted to find “glorious legroom” back there because of rear facing child seats and instead found adequate legroom (didn’t work for us, roughly the same as our Honda Pilot). I imagine the legroom requirements are about the same for a rear facing as they are for you (need lots of space). I am curious how you will like the additional room in the rear of the 2019 Ram 1500, suppose to be cavernous.

    Goodness Dodge needs to redesign all of their vehicles and Chrysler needs to redesign the 300 love the cars but all of them are on a old platform I still find it crazy for someone to buy a SRT Jeep Gran Cherokee and Dodge Durango their too heavy to have those engines.

    • @rkalla
      @rkalla Před 6 lety

      I was fixated on this also until I got a 300, if you forget the age of the chassis it’s built on, it’s a big comfortable, powerful cruiser. I really enjoy mine. I had a Charger 392 that I thought was a big disappointment for how expensive it was (I paid $52k) and how loud it was, the engine didn’t make its pose until like 4K rpm which means you had to be driving like a psycho to enjoy the pull. I am super happy with the 5.7 in sport mode in the 300 and quieter exhaust.
