A little known fact was the Interstate highway system was built in the 1950’s specifically for transporting troops quickly from one part of the US to another. Also next time you are on the highway take notice how there are long stretches of straight road in fairly regular intervals. The highways were designed this way to also work as makeshift airfields. I forgot the interval but it’s something like 5 miles of straight road per like every 20 or 50 miles.

The Russians would be more likely to use Cuba as a jumping off point on the East and Gulf coasts. Like your mama said, nothing is impossible. Now, being able to invade and actually win is a different thing. Yes, countries have secret plans to invade almost every country in the world. The US has a plan to invade Canada. 1. Terrain. The U.S. has many many areas that eliminate the efficiency or ability to deploy tanks, drones, heavy armored transports, and accurate bombing runs. Anyone saying how citizens with guns amount to nothing against chemical, biological, and armored warfare doesn't know anything about warfare and certainly hasn't experienced it. Have fun deploying chemicals in some of these states as heavy winds blow it away from enemies and onto friendly forces, for one of dozens of examples. The field of battle is going to be different and draining on invading troops not acclimated, can't simply train for jungle warfare and deploy to Vietnam. We have deserts, forests, mountains, swamps, artic winters and blistering summers.
    2. Civilian forces. The small arms survey and surveys from pew research center estimate between 30%-50% of Americans own at least one gun. This translates to nearly 100 million people armed at worst and over 150 million people armed at best. This alone is dangerous but now factor in skill. There are roughly 1 million law enforcement in the country, trained to operate weapons. Since you need a license to hunt, we know there are also 15.2 million hunters in the country. Between the census bureau, pew research center, and VA we know there are over 18 million military veterans in the country as well. This all adds up to over 34 million armed "civillians" trained to utilize their owned weapons, give or take a couple million for overlap and exceptions.
    3. All 50 states, D.C., and three territories have a National Guard. These forces are armed the same, as they are the same, as any of our active military forces. Access to intelligence, logistics, satellite, extensive and reinforced communications and administrative support. Access to tanks, aircraft (fixed and rotary), armored transports, barrier and quick FOB deployment, heavy weaponry and more.
    4. We would see it coming. Before you deal with any of that you have to understand the military logistics of the world. We have military forces, if not outright bases, and at minimum embassies in just about every major country in the world. Our patrol of the oceans and skies are vast and our shared intelligence agencies both civilian and military are extensive. It isn't ego or exaggeration to state that any major offensive would be seen coming long before reaching the U.S. territories in any serious capacity.
    5. Military and Ally forces. As we have seen from the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, Syrian civil war, Anti-Somali Pirate operations, Sierra Leone conflict, Gulf War and more, we have several allies that would be quick to come to our aid. Then there is the U.N. and NATO forces that would support us. Then give or take a hundred thousand or so for reserve, overseas, or casualty status, the U.S. has approximately half a million active duty troops not counting reserve and national guard already accounted for above.
    6. Technological supremacy. Anyone who has participated in training or war games with us and tested us like North Korea and China has, understands that while other countries do employ military tools comparably to our own, such as Russia and China's gen 5 jets, there seems to be performance or in most cases, simply quality issues by comparison to our own which gives us an edge. Then obviously deployment of anything less is pointless. Example, a gen 4 stands no chance against a gen 5 jet.

To answer your "silly hypothetical": No, it is not feasible to build a tunnel to invade the US.
The USGS is a government agency that monitors for earthquakes via tectonic acoustics.
That same technology is what the US used to monitor when Soviet Russia was testing nuclear bombs.
We've used similar technology to detect tsunamis (as they're caused by earthquakes), and they were sensitive enough to detect the sinking of K-129, a Soviet nuclear missile submarine. The US's network of hydrophones and tectonic acoustics were sensitive enough to calculate exactly where K-129 went down on the seafloor.
It was partially recovered during Project Azorian where the Hughes-Glomar Explorer attempted to recover K-129, only for half of the sub to tear away and fall back into the deep. After every piece of the recovered portion was studied and catalogued, the US government notified the Soviet Union that we had recovered K-129 and learned everything we needed from the recovered vessel, forcing the Soviet Union to completely review and overhaul their navy, hastening their bankruptcy and eventual downfall.

Us Americans are VERY passionate about our guns. In fact, there's more guns than people in America. So, you would have to worry about the armed American people who would defend the country. There is also a National Guard in each state, which would further complicate an invasion. You also asked if digging a tunnel would be any good. It will not. Most likely, the military will detect movement underground and will act accordingly. America was invaded in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II. In that game, America activates an EMP, allowing for a quick counterattack to lift the siege on DC. Canada and Mexico are out of the picture. Canada's Armed Forces are miniscule compared to the vast strength of the United States Armed Forces. Mexico has their own conflicts going on right now and they fought us in the past. I agree with your reservations about using absolute terms like invulnerable and impossible. We are the dominant world military power for the reasons stated in the video, but that doesn’t mean that nothing can go wrong. It could happen that our military could be spread too thin around the world, making us more vulnerable to invasion. Not a likely scenario, but possible. Especially if the goal is to achieve political ends, as opposed to trying to conquer outright. Not that I’m losing any sleep over it, but I don’t think it’s impossible.

Everyone in the US would have to be asleep. There's no way you're moving hundreds of thousand troops halfway around the world without the US noticing. Not to mention there isn't the capacity to do so. At best they'd have to use bulk cargo ship which are slow and completely defenseless. It's realisticly impossible to invade the US in any meaningful way. The only way you can make the argument is to hamstring the US in multiple unrealistic ways. The US could defend itself against its entire combined military power plus that of the world. Thus has already been tested and war gamed in simulation.

I'm a 30-year veteran of the US military, and I believe this video was fairly realistic. I agree with previous commentors that a significant factor not addressed in the video and that most do not consider is how heavily armed the US civilian populace is. The US is criticized for the number of deaths due to gun violence, and this is a fair criticism as the number of deaths due to gun violence in the US is tragic, but safety and freedom are on opposite ends of a continuum. The more you move towards securing freedoms, the less safety you have, and the more you move to safety, the greater threats to your freedom. This is why the right of the American people to bear arms is enshrined in the 2nd Amendment as historically Americans have valued freedom over safety, and unfortunately, but inevitably pay the price for it--in the loss of life. Bringing it back to a supposed invasion of the US homeland, even if the US military were not available, the possibility of a foreign nation to subdue the very heavily armed civilian populace of the US is highly unlikely, and in my qualified opinion, impossible.

Two important factors that were left out:
    1) The U.S. civilian population is incredibly well armed. They have more guns and ammunitions than the entire military of most nations.
    2) The mindset of most U.S. civilians and how they'll react to an invasion:
Reaction of most civilians in other countries - "OMG! Gather your valuables and run!
Reaction of most civilians in the U.S. - "Yes! Break out the guns and ammo, Christmas is coming early this year!"

Many European folks do not understand the number of firearms in our society. When deer season for rifle use opens in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, there are more people in the woods with high powered rifles than any army can put in the field. That is just those three states.

Any of these scenarios assumes the US Navy is eliminated first. Getting a task force across either the Atlantic or Pacific would be an invitation to a swim meet.

In answer to your question about the tunnel, by way of example, the Channel tunnel is just over 50km, took 5+ years, 11 boring machines, and 15,000 workers to build. The Russians might get away with building such a tunnel between Siberia and Alaska, but the drive from Fairbanks to LA is 57 hours (according to google maps)--but that's without traffic.

Trying to "Shawshank Redemption" your way in would be pretty risky as the U.S. Border Patrol already spends a lot of time scanning for tunnels due to the drug traffickers. Moving enough traffic through a tunnel that big would likely also trigger the numerous seismic sensors the country has, and would likely get pinpointed pretty quickly

It's important to remember that there's over 19,000,000 military veterans in the U.S. Add that to the current military. You have a VERY strong well trained froce.

Actually no, super carriers can't be hidden. Those types of ships are so unbelievably massive, that it's simply impossible to hide them without sending them to hide near the north and south poles.

The fact is our shipyards are nearly depleted now, we have a total of 7. Yes 7 shipyards in total. Untill the late 90s we had 43.
But the worst part is the armed civilians are at every turn in America.

If you could get one of those massive tunneling machines to the US coast unseen... pretty sure it's drilling would be picked up on seismic activity. Not to mention that they would have to deploy tanks and all men and equipment through one narrow access point which ends the assault as soon as the tunnel I'd destroyed.
