Thomas Sankara: An African Revolutionary, Why was He Killed?

  • In the dusty heart of Burkina Faso, where the sun sears the barren earth and the wind whispers secrets of a turbulent past, a revolutionary’s voice rose, echoed, and reverberated across the African plains..
This revolutionary was none other than Thomas Sankara, the late former president of Burkina Faso. Sankara rose to power in 1983, and he immediately became a committed, self-sacrificing rebel who, during his four years as leader of a small, impoverished nation, sought to improve the lives of ordinary people while at the same time projecting the country onto the international stage...

As you said "betrayal often comes from the people next to you" and its sad when it's your own black people who you are in defence of,fighting the outside forces who have colonised your land and exploiting your land and your people only to be betrayed by the people you are fighting for. Let me reiterate that the enslavement of Africans was made possible by fellow Africans who acted in collusion with the Europeans all because we have no honour among ourselves as black people.

Thomas Isidore Sankara - Leader, pan-african anti-imperialist, environmentalist, gender activist, pro-education, anti-patronage. Truly, truly he was a leader who came before his time. Sankara was a man ahead of his time. The nation was on the verge of a new era, but sadly, had to be dragged back into the giant belly of the colonials that have been slowly sucking the continent leaving behind lands devoid of stability, resources, and progresses. It appears what is good for Africa always does not last long or severely suppressed by the indirect muscle of the colonials or by our own power hungry pigs. After nearly 40 years post Sankara's death, the continent still worships foreign influences, leaders still kill their own people to grab a chair as a pathway to self wealth gratification, officials still live in palace rolling in imported luxury automobiles while mothers in the motherland mix tiny grain powder with large water to reach out to all their children, and so much more. The continent needs someone to carry on Sankara's kind of legacy if there is any hope for Africa to see a new light of a day.

This was an amazing Masterclass on the late great Thomas Sankara. It’s very sad the Self Hate that exists among Africans and African Descendants worldwide that we would allow Money, Power,Greed and Foreign influences to get into our heads and destroyed our very own. The enemy used his very own to take him down. I wake up every day with this thought what went wrong? Why do hate each other but, very welcoming to the very people where either themselves or their ancestors have caused us so much pain? Our minds need to be Born Again!! Thanks

If the rumors are true about Ibrahim Traore being the reincarnation of Comrade Thomas Sankara, I pray that nothing will stop the African Revolution from rising from the grave like the Phoenix.
Thomas Sankara and Che Guevara are the true Revolutionaries that practiced what they preached. My country Nigeria, my continent Africa and the world needs such heroes to save us from the monsters of Imperialism.

Since you mentioned Che Guevara, you must mention Fidel Castro who had the support of most of the Cuban people and stood up and survived many attempts on his life, but outlived several imperialists until he died peacefully in his homeland! Amazibg fact! Please do a similar case study on Fidel. I often think and wonder how did he survive the several attempts to kill him! I strongly believe he was divinely protected and he 3as disciplined! He paid attention to the Spirit guidance. He was so led by the Almighty that he was able to thwart the plot of the enemies! We all have to pay attention and seek the Most High for wisdom and guidance. We cannot rely on ourselves alone! Blessings to every righteous soul!!!❤❤❤

Tatenda never disappoints with his documentaries about African historical figures,he also looks at both sides of the story rather than only the canonized side of a historic figure,he also addresses the short comings so we get a balanced view of the person.
Sankara was sabotaged by Ivorian leader Felix Boigny who was an unapologetic French puppet, today we have Capitaine Traore leading Africa's 3rd Revolution.
Speaking of the current Capitaine,he finds himself at odds with the current Ivorian Leader Alasane Ouattarra who is again another unapologetic French puppet, except he is actually the biggest French puppet ever.
This time around,we have social media and many of us are speaking with one voice to come together and get rid of the remaining Western puppets in Power like Ouattarra,Sall ,Tinubu and the other fella in GABON.These French puppets are being overthrown by coups and Ouattarra is next.
