  • The long-awaited trial into the murder of former Burkina Faso president, Thomas Sankara, has begun in the capital, Ouagadougou. He was killed in a coup in 1987. He was known for his integrity and modest lifestyle. Two of his brothers, Paul and Valentin Sankara, share some memories they have of the Burkinabé revolutionary.

We should show our pride in him by following his path: as long as we leave our good leaders alone, our colonial enemies will have it easy in getting rid of them: from Lumumba, to Sankara and then Gaddafi and this year Magufuli of Tanzania, who wasn't willing to sell his people out to the covid circus like most of our "leaders" did.

A "feminist" and "environmentalist" well before that was fashionable. He made a 50 years for Burkina before he got killed.
Promoted lot of women in the government, encouraged the education of girls in schools, planted trees to stop the desertification in the Sahel region .....etc, truly a visionary.
    RIP Tom Sank

Funny thing is as time went on a lot of Burkinabes got fed up with sankara's ideas. But as with the norm for all Africans we tend to realize what we had after its long gone. We don't believe in make the sacrifices today for a better tomorrow so we complain about our leaders and only appreciate them after they are gone

Its a wonderful story, and we salute him. However, most African leaders at that time started off like that, very humble, fair and shown love & respect to their people. They either turned to be corrupt or mad dictators when their development policies don't work out.

This is the curse of Africa. We are so good at killing and discarding the best that God has endowed us with, so adept at dimming and putting off flames of vision that illuminates our paths to self respect and dignified social economic sustainability while dancing fervently and worshipping foreign ghosts who day and night plot to rob us, as stirs up amongst us a sad , tragic and constant urge to run from our own selves.

•Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. There is no other intermediary. May Jesus Bless you, trust Him, give your life - and He will take care of it :pray Convert yourself and believe in the Gospel - Romans 10 8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[a](A) that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare(B) with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(C) and believe(D) in your heart that God raised him from the dead,(E) you will be saved.(F) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
