So I don’t need to watch this video right?
So this video basically is meaningless, nice

And tell you about all the quirks and features of not doing said review.
Any automaker threatening to “brick” a car, is absolutely terrifying. We all should be concerned about this and make such a situation that automakers are forced to go in the opposite direction.
Exactly, automakers should be sued for threatening owners like that.
You do know that GM, BMW, Mercedes, and many other electric car manufacturers have the EXACT same terms and abilities to control or "brick" your electric car, right?
Hold Tesla accountable, but please don't pretend they're the only ones doing this stuff...
This is why they’re pushing EV’s so hard on everyone. Much easier to control than older gas cars or gas cars in general.
That hs exactly why I’m not interested in an EV. I don’t like someone having the ability to remotely shut off my car
This is the reason why governments want you to own an electric vehicle. When you act bad, they brick your entire life
11 minutes of "I'm not doing it unless it's Cars & Bids promo"
I mean at the end of the day, cars and bids is a company that wants to generate profit. Him having a majority stake in said company would give him a vested financial interest to help make as much profit for the company as possible. Can you really blame him?
Time to jump ship.
Jump ship, he’s not neutral anymore. He’s biased now
Doug subs are the ultimate YT jokes.
Thanx for saving my time
I about fell out of my chair laughing when he said that "at Cars & Bids, we are obsessed with transparency"!! And, they prove it by violating their own rule to conceal the VIN, because they say so "in this case".

PRIORITIES!🤣
he spends it on cars which is fine by a car guy like me lol. The quality is perfect. Just one of the quirks and features of the Doug DeMuro review experience lol
Things that are not a priority:
Thousands of dollars of foam to make a garage sound like something it isn't, for no particular reason.
Fiberglass/rockwool is really cheap and really effective. The echo is bad...
@@CZcams_username. No particular reason? This whole vid is about how much money he wants to make. Meanwhile it's been proven time and time again that increased production quality means more views which equals more money. People will close a video for any number of petty reasons, and one of them is muddy audio and an annoying echo in their ears.
He may not actually OWN it. James May rents his.
Long time Doug watcher; I actually cried watching the CGT purchase video, mad respect for all he has accomplished. That ended with this video; he has sold his soul by putting money ahead of integrity.
Doug the type of guy to make a cars and bids ad for why he is waiting to make a cars and bids ad
Respect the hustle. Doug's doing it honestly, imo. Not profiting off of others labor, just producing things and getting paid, for the most part. IDK if he does the back end work on cars and bids, but it is his idea and i'm sure he's put many hrs into it, with no bad labor practices, pollution, etc. involved.
I want to hear the model 3 story now lol

Doug is the kind of guy to not be Doug himself anymore 😔
Doug the type of guy to get really cocky and alienate his oldest fans after becoming a multi-millionaire.
Summary: Doug was hoping to review a Cybertruck that someone was selling on Cars and Bids (no such sales yet) as a cross promotion of Cars and Bids. He has put that as a higher priority than doing a review as quickly as possible for his subscribers, as he notes he has several friends and neighbors with Cybertrucks.
Finally someone gets it.

@@johnshowinc to himself. Good business.
It’s impressive that you tried to twist car flipping to sound like a good thing.
I'm surprised nobody caught that when I remember a few years ago he was against that.
He's profiting on it.
See all the low mileage corvettes and broncos that sold on cars and bids? While Joe average is stuck waiting a year for the flipping market to die down before he can even get looked at with a straight face by a dealer to get one for sticker...
Yeah ok. If you had a brand new cool car and some dude wanted to give +100k more than what the vehicle was actually worth, you wouldn’t sell it? It’s not like it’s an Accord or something. It’s a niche car and eventually production will meet demand and prices will simmer down.
@@peppapigthekiller7539 if someone offered me the money I'd sell it, but purchasing the vehicle with the sole intent on flipping it is what I dislike and I feel many others dislike.
When it comes down to it, it's just Capitalism capitalisming. A bizarre consequence of it, for sure, but that's the kind of world and system we live in. In all honesty, absurd prices seem preferable to the manufacturer deciding what you can and can't do with a product *that you own*. Unless we want to transition to a world where everyone is just renting things, and I'm pretty sure that can't be in Average Joe's interest.
Saying C&B is the best place for scalpers to sell new electric cars is not the flex you think it is.
You think he cares when he just made a fortune?
Yeah not a good look
@@ShortBusRejectz Vindictiveness and spitefulness is not a good look for Tesla either, why do they use fear to control their customers?
It's capitalism, why should it be limited to corporations only? If someone is willing to pay you should be allowed to sell.

I understand that he wants to maximize his profits but at the same time the viewers are the ones who brought him where he is now. I definitely get it, but it’s still disappointing that Doug reviews are now relegated to only being advertisements for C&B… I know at this point reviews aren’t the main source of income for Doug but I’m sure the review isn’t gonna perform as well than if it were released at the peak of the hype. I’m not even a Tesla guy but I’d love to see Doug go through one
Agreed, if he had access to one from early on, the review should have happened. His Model 3 review blew up because he got his review out within a week of them being on the road. The same would have happened with the cybertruck had Doug done the same. But since he can't promote C&B to the maximum potential due to these resell contractual clauses, the review hasn't happened.
Doug didn't sell out to "big truck", he sold out to C&B.
To be fair, this was always going to be the trajectory.
he stated in a previous video he wouldnt be doing car reviews at all if it wasnt for cars and bids. I think we should be greatful that this way he still has motivation to make fun videos when financially he has little motivation do to so.
@@sava411Grateful? I'm grateful for my family's health, and well being. Being able to watch car videos doesn't crack the top 100 of things in grateful for. @@superturtle61177 ok then if you dont like his reason for not reviewing the cybertruck why not just stop watching his videos instead of complain in the comments about how hes greedy?
In my opinion being a youtuber is more work than its worth especially for someone like doug who has a successful business outside of youtube.
Respectfully, Doug flexes is GT in this video saying he doesn’t need to take bribes to not review cars, he’s got plenty of money, but the entire video is how he’s not reviewing this car to make more money.
So you find it wrong for him to support the business he’s created while not bowing to auto makers? Odd criticism…
The event of reviewing a car and pointing to your auction of it, is more fun than just covering a car on its own.
More fun for him and the viewers.
A bribe isnt fun.
@@Accost2uhe’s not not doing the video because of automaker money. He’s not doing it because he can make more money when tied to selling it on C&B. He’s putting money over making content for us the viewers and for a guy who “doesn’t need the money”, that’s not cool
I don't believe for a second that Doug is taking bribes, but the idea that someone wouldn't do something shady because they were already rich has been disproven so often that the notion is laughable.
Which GT? 😂😂😂
Doug, supporting scalpers since 2020.
Exactly.
I liked him more when he did not yet broadcast out of a nuclear fallout shelter.
It’s his garage so it’s probably more convenient for him to just film there. It probably gets awkward for him filming cars, especially, new, classic, or exotic cars in empty parking lots
@@jpla1886 I believe it's below the C&B office. I think they call it the batcave. You can even see the door to the car elevator with a bat symbol on it on Google maps at the C&B HQ
I guess I am weird, but I actually like the nuclear fallout shelter. For me, it gets positive points for novelty and weirdness. I mean, you don't see that many CZcamsrs filming videos sitting in a chair surrounded by the harsh gray concrete of an underground bunker. I half expect radioactive zombies - or perhaps Underground People (who have evolved to live in the darkness of Doug's vast labyrinthine garage) - to emerge from the shadows on the left or right side of the video frame. I half expect the camera to pan to a Batmobile and/or Batsuit, revealing that Doug, in his spare time, is a high-tech masked vigilante crime fighter.

I didn’t know this channel was about buying and selling cars.
I literally didn’t know that he was trying to sell these cars 😂 I was just watching for entertainment. Everyone is setting him on fire in these comments 🥴
he started cars & bids in 2020 and since then this hannel has tried to cater to giving attention to car sellers for sure, but he still remains informative, and if there's a caar he really likes that isn't and probably won't be on C&B, he'll review it if he gets the chance@@MiahVega
Why did you think he mentioned Cars & Bids 5x per video? He's been transparent about it. Most popular CZcamsrs monetize their viewership by selling merch. I finally bought an LTT screwdriver because Linus kept talking about it, and pretty happy with it. I'd get a little sus if Doug manufactured cars though.
@@darrellm4794 He always says sponsored by Cars and Bids. Most CZcamsrs capitalize from viewership through sponsors. I never knew he was the actual owner, sponsoring himself 💀
It wasn't, he's been doing reviews on here since 2013, only for the last 4 years he started his online car auction thing.
Well, at least he went ahead and admitted that his videos have mainly become infomercials for Cars & Bids.
They have? Huh. Hadn't noticed that. And what's "Cars and Bids" never hear about it and certainly never see a commercial audio-recorded in a kitchen pantry about it.

I've searched your channel several times in the past handful of months looking for your review! Happy to hear it is infact on the way
Honestly, I think Doug has always been about the money. He's just now in a position, financially, to not have to hide it and dance around his motivations. Honestly, good on him for working hard and being successful. But let's not spin this into a huge, "Doug has changed!" thing. He's always been like this, but now he's just more transparent.
Bingo. It's surprising to see so many "Dough is sell out" comments, cause he has always been like that. I watch his videos since 2017 and saw enough to see the direction he's going. And he's honest about trying to profit off the review.
Even if it was always about the money, it certainly didn't feel like it before. It's kind of jarring to see him say it out loud. CZcams is and always has been a show but the reason a lot of us watched Doug was he felt way more down-to-earth than the myriad of CZcams-Car-Guys. Now he just feels exactly like them.
Don't be fooled. All professional CZcamsrs do it for the money. The moment someone quits an actual paying job with a schedule and boss, they're a professional. Even artists have to pay the bills.
And what’s wrong with that ? He isn’t dishonest or lies about reviews
The guy is OBSESSED with cars. He used to walk around taking pictures of exotic cars before practically anyone did it, and before it he was paid for it. It's clearly his passion. Fast forward to the current day and he thought he could essentially find free money for his company by timing the inevitable. But things didn't work out that way, and he is telling people why. There is no mystery here.
I would not give my money to any manufacturer who tried to tell me what to do with my own property
You've probably done that if you paid for computer software. Technically, you're licensing it rather than purchasing it, so the license agreement that you probably accepted without reading stipulates that you can't reverse-engineer it, install it on more than a certain number of devices, etc. Most of the restrictions aren't really objectionable, but you are being told what to do with what you spent money on.
We got our $100 deposit back, once we found out about this ridiculous condition.
@@benjaminrobinson3842 would not have a huge amount of money tied up and unable to sell in the case of computer software. Maybe that’s Tesla’s issue they are a tech firm not a car manufacturer
Like your DVDs, CDs, video games, Blu Rays, operation system on your devices, the groceries you buy that say “no resell”, etc?
They only do this to cars in high demand. So, they don't care about your money.
So the reason comes down to Doug has priorities (we all do), and Cars and Bids out ranks reviews.
Money is corrupting his mind
Fair enough, but when it became obvious that the C&B route wasn't going to pan out, you'd think Doug would pivot and just borrow one from a friend (or get a press car, if Tesla is allowing press reviews) so he could get some profit from a relatively current review.
@@benjaminrobinson3842 his youtube channel makes pennies vs what he makes from c&b. At this point this youtube channel is just him having fun and promoting c&b which is his real cash cow. Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah theres nothing wrong with it. Maybe if you wanted the car so badly you should have tried a bit harder to get one. Sucks to suck!
They will just keep making more of these. Its not the same as scalping a fixed supply of concert tickets, or a limited release collectible. If anything waiting will get you a vetter version of it. And this isnt a thing people need NOW for work. Its not an industry workhorse device.
my comment didappeared but basically
this isnt a problem because they will just keep making more trucks.
Its not a fixed supply concert ticket or collectible.
And nobody is going to miss out on work done or have health issues because they had to wait for a cyber truck. It isnt practical equipment.

This actually might be. Once the hype for the cybertruck fades and production spits out more of these, their value will drop. Look at all the bad decisions made in 2022 and with how much loss they were sold again in 2023.
How desperate are people to spend so much over market value for some "virtual clout".

You die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain after all.
It was always about money, don’t act like he changed at all. Doug has stated many times before while he loves to review weird cars, the views would talk so he prioritize the new stuff to get more views.

Don't act like you wouldn't do the same thing.
This isn't scalping. And arguably scalping isn't real either, demand will ALWAYS meet supply at the price equilibrium, no matter how supply reaches the market. Consumers not willing to pay that equilibrium can wait for supply to increase and bring prices down. Any other argument to this is simply entitled and illogical.@@theColeHardTruth
im sorry but im on teslas side. scalpers are so annoying, buying things they don’t have an interest in just to flip a profit. like how they want more trucks to go into people who actually want the truck.
Well at least it's a tacit admission that everything that's recorded now is either a c&b auction or a new car lent out from a dealer. Better than people speculating about it.
Even before C&B, a lot of his cars were loan-outs from dealerships. I assume the dealer benefitted from the shout-out Doug gave at the start of the review.
What to speculate about? It's capitalism. Consume the content or don't.
How do you think Doug affords the 7 figures worth of cars sitting behind him?
Doug's been saying for a year or more that the C+B tie in is what is keeping the "quirky cars" section of his channel alive. He had cut way back on them because they don't generate the views that new cars do. I don't see the problem. Doug gets to keep making vids about fun, obscure cars and his hardcore audience gets to keep watching them.
I also thought it was kind of a blatant admission of milking the videos but at the same time he's now a business owner and I think many youtubers do stuff in the exact same way but just dont make a video explaining their thought process.
To be fair the situation is a bit nefarious
This was a spicy video, Doug. Glad you still make vids like these.
I think it's great they are trying to protect Consumers from Scalpers, everybody complains when Dealerships charge 100K over list!
It happens in every market now, nobody could get a PS5 for a year because they were all being scalped!

Car flippers are a cancer of society. There is nothing to be proud of enabling price gouging, and flipping brand new cars.
Yep, they are taking delivery spots that a legit buyer could have had.
Like when the bronco and Corvette came out, plenty of people wanted one but everyone was buying them to flip, impossible for a real buyer to get.
Literaly the opposite. By adding to the demand they increase the incentives to car manufacturers to ramp up orders to their suppliers and more quickly scale manufacturing to increase supply. Fixed low margins do NOT increase supply.
That’s how capitalism and a free market works. Cry some more
Just wait a little and you can get the car at its intended price.
It's capitalism at work. A high demand and a low supply leads to a high price, higher then what the cars MSRP is. So scalpers are just filling the gap between the MSRP and the actual market price. You can love it or hate it, but it's just how the system works.

Yep seems like
That part.
Yeah I think I'm going to unsubscribe. Him reviewing cars for a second time if they get sold on his site made me already feel weird.
so sad...the whole thing derailed on the banks of greedy.
You hit the nail on the head, how the great have fallen.
Love your honesty doug
“I have a Carrera GT. I don’t need ur stinkin money” 😂😂😂
Your fans expect more man… your competition is grand slamming it every time
He really is falling out, i lately find him getting facts wrong, now he just became a sellout for his own company and tries to spin into a good thing.
TL DR:
Doug hasn't been able to maximise promotion for Cars & Bids through a cybertruck auction to make even more money. This video basically confirms that this channel is no longer a review channel but a marketing front for C&B.
I think saying “no longer a review channel” is a bit harsh, but it does appear the priorities have undoubtedly changed.
I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying, but in his credit before this channel was a front for C&B, it was a front for Autotrader’s Oversteer blog. This channel has never not been a “marketing front,” and it’s just simply gone from one platform to another, albeit the C&B plugs are much more aggressive, and have taken priority over simply reviewing cars just for viewer enjoyment.
Yeah, I'm not sure this video is going to go over well
To be honest every money-earning YT channel has sponsors, it's just that on this one the sponsor is always the same. Also I bet it's much easier to get to review cars that are selling on C&B ,instead of looking and organizing others. The new cars come from dealerships anyway@@TriangIe
@@MatthewUrsoPeople will always find ways to find what's wrong with something even if it's bringing value to their own lives. It's stupid.
Omg that last quip in the end 😂😂
Doug, I'm glad we're back to the Sunday videos. Missed Ya buddy
I just received an email from Tesla last week that I can order my Cybertruck now with delivery from April - June. I'm somewhat reluctant to being that it's $99K and not the $49K I had signed up for when I put my reservation down five years ago.
Especially when Tesla drops the price in 18 months like they did with the Model S Plaid.
It's the foundation series. They threw in like 15k in options. The premium they are charging is about 5k. But of course, if you don't want the extras, that's different.
It's actually $20K in 'extras' which includes FSD which I don't need as well as other little things that I don't personally feel are worth the upcharge. And then there's the $50K or more penalty if you sell it in the first year.@@Pratik4311
There was never a $59k model offered.
I'm sorry. You're right it was $49K. I edited my post. Thanks!

So you can't review a car unless it's being sold on cars and bids?
No no, not "cant" but wont. Greed is the real reason.
@@jaroslavmrazek5752 Yeah
About half of the reviews on his channel currently are new cars not sold on Cars & Bids. Do you just ignore all of his reviews that have 2024 in the title?
@@C0LDMachine He admitted his priority is reviewing cars that can be sold on cars and bids. That's literally the reason he hasn't reviewed the cybertruck yet. Just shows where his priorities are when it comes to his channel now.
@@strangeclouds7 Yeah I know Cars & Bids are more of a priority now for him, but you're over here thinking that he can't review a car unless it's being sold there. Just because it's more of a priority for him doesn't me he won't review a car he can't sell.
Hey Doug, I would love to see your thoughts on a 5th Gen Camaro ZL1. I just saw your video on the ss 5th gen you made years ago and i would love to see your thoughts on the ZL1 version as it's around the same price as a Z06 C6 corvette and it would be nice to see which of the two are a better value as you recently made a video on the C6 Z06.
Or a Video on your top cars under $50,000.
Great video as always Doug!
I love the honesty.
Basically, you were overthinking it, and the universe was like "Hey, we do the scheming around heyar!" and made it extra complicated, since complication rather than content sharing is what you went for ;-)
I'm glad you're keeping Cars & Bids transparent. Please keep it that way forever. Always show the VINs.
I love this channel for your nerdy yet blue collar approach to each review. The kid grin you display when you hit the accelerator and are rewarded with real speed ALWAYS makes me smile. And I even get the whole cross promotion thing. But THISSSSSSSSSS is an auto review channel. Latest and greatest reviews from one of the best to ever do it. Minus the C&B plug at the beginning of each video which I completely understand let’s not make the sum greater than the parts. Quirks over perks!
Bro isn’t blue collar. He’s rich AF.
@@banderson1979 agreed. I was referring to the lack of a collared shirt and pants.
Wow. This was reasonable and informative.
"As the quirks and features guy" made me laugh!
I'm all for freedom to do what you want with your property, but I also think scalpers are the scum of the earth. So if there could be a thing where for the first year of a product they make it so you can't sell it for more than what you paid for it or have to sell it back to the company or something, I'm fine with that. Then after the year is up, if demand is still high, you could sell it for whatever you want.
That said, a company like Tesla that doesn't use third party retailers to sell its products could also just keep track of who they sell to and limit them to one per person as opposed to something like the Playstation 5 where people would just go to different stores, buy ten of them, and hoard them to sell at a ridiculously gouged price.
at least hes honest - after trying to couch it in many words - about how selfish he is being
To summarize: This channel is no longer entirely about reviewing cool and quirky cars for simply pure viewer enjoyment and engagement, the majority of reviews have to be an ad for Cars & Bids now, especially insanely popular cars like the cybertruck. So the reason Doug hasn’t reviewed one yet is because everyone is afraid to auction one on his platform, as Tesla is rightfully trying to stop people from flipping them to allow legitimate honest buyers to secure one for MSRP, and Doug is now admitting defeat and going to review one soon just for the sake of showing it to his audience for once, not just because the specific unit is also for auction on Cars & Bids and would be a source of heavy traffic to his website.
greed is a dish served gross
Doug the type of guy who turned into a sellout
The channel has changed A LOT and videos with hilarity like the Ghibli/Mirage/Metris seem to be sadly gone forever. Everything IS a C&B plug and Turo seems extinct. Nothing good lasts forever apparently but he still gets that fat check!
@@RP-16 sellout to who lmao? c&b is his own company. You ppl should be grateful he still makes videos at all because post c&b he rly dont need youtube money.
I can't stand hearing the "CAAAARS AND BIDS" name anymore, why can't Doug be satisfied with the insane ad revenue he probably brings in with his millions of views?
Doug looking like he's some kind of robot guy sitting static in a chair like Davros or something in this vid... talking about Cyber trucks, but he's really talking about Daleks.
Doug, I just want a 300ZX review you've done every other 90s Japanese sports car.
Yeah ok bud 👌
Doug *hates Nissan, always has
Oh the car which gave headlights to the later Lamborghini Diablo models
@@iamatlantis1 proof?
Yeah, I LOVE the 300ZX!
Honest and transparent as always, that’s what I love about Doug!!!😎
Doug has to schill for Cars and Bids. He’s basically admitting it and also promoting price gouging. The auto hobby is now gate keeped by the elite because of people like him.
he's a free market capitalist. if someone is willing to pay more for a car, why shouldn't they be able to?
@@daviddixon6565 so sad to see him topple like this
He's not a schill for Cars and Bids, he IS Cars and Bids. Its his company, of course he's going to try and promote it every chance he gets, he spent years of his life creating it.
@@chrisoconnell8432he is not the majority owner. He has to appease the stake holders. He can’t do negative reviews for anything going up to auction.
@@chrisoconnell8432 pretty sure it's not all his anymore. I remember him saying someone bought it. But don't quote me... Anyone who has more info please let me know.
Bad decision Doug. You waited cause you were trying to money more money. Now it’s too little, too late on the review. You’ll now be THE LAST car reviewer to review this.
I love ya. I’ve watched every review you’ve done since the early days or your channel, but you messed this one up cause you got greedy.
yep, greedy and selfish despite how he words it. and now he got nailed. Own up to it doug, dont run from it.
@@gentlewolfhow exactly did he get nailed? His explanation was pretty straightforward and made perfect sense. CZcams and C and B is a business you know?

I don't see it. He'll make one, we all watch it, that's that.
I appreciate your honesty - that you came right out and said you wanted to do a cross-promotion with your auction site. Thank you. That's all too rare on CZcams channels.
Love how the ad was so short and effective
I'm watching an advertisement right now aren't I? Quite greedy of him

Exactly. He is a hypocritical democrat. Does not like that Elon supports free speech.
yo doug are you doing a video on the new tundra i think it’s the one with that wild suspension behind the seats
I watch Doug for the sense kf humor he brings to the vids. I also like his opinion on the vehs he reviewes. The cybertruck review will be fantastic when he can get to it.
