- Schiller against middle positions, langort and thrusts, and cuts. This is a new suggestion with more effective way for schiller than a usual one. Full article with explanations longsword.academy/longsword/sc...
Whatever happened to this series? This is an excellent format. Very clear. Have you pursued creating a full syllabus in this style?
why you have got such a dirty weapon?
I know I'm late but props to the fencer who acted as the dummy. Imagine spending a day just walking into schiels on purpose!
We are currently trying to adapt this version of the Schielhau and we encountered an issue against an Oberhau. The one throwing the Schielhau very often seems to get his fingers cut. Are we missing something or is that just something we have to deal with? We are mostly not using a Feder, but regular Longswords, so we don't have the additional protection of the Schild. Does anyone know how we could tackle that problem?
The chillhaw is a great strike in this demostration
Hi Anton! I'm struggling with this against the Oberhau. I was looking at your counter frame-by-frame in sequence 38, and it looks like you cut with the long edge? I tried looking at the article you linked in the English version, but the important bit on the Oberhau seemed to need translation. Anything you can provide would help immensely.
In the old one, it looks like you were contacting your opponent's sword with the strong of your sword, with the new one, it looks like it your sword was contacting more so with the hilt, hence why the strong weak matters less, and why the angle matters more. But I guess that means, the timing is even more crucial now, since you get close to your opponent's tip in the new version.
Watching this, I cannot help but wonder, though: In most sequences, the attacker, or opponent, doesn't really threaten or at least doesn't even try to win the center.. his point is aimed to the side. Would the technique - as presented - even work? Or would it require more footwork to the right?
It seems really similar to the Zornhau. Can someone explain why you are supposed to hold it in reverse (back edge) whenever performing the cut?
So basically same thing just much less movement.
I was attending a sparring camp in Pittsburgh over a month ago and I had to actually use Schielhau as a flinch respond against someone swinging like a buffel with a "Mintante"( A personalized Longsword Feder with a Montante hilt that hit like a truck).
Glad to see you back! Looking forward to more of your great instructional videos.
Another great video. I love your interpretations! I look forward to practicing this.
Nice! Thanks for sharing, what a fantastic study guide into the mechanics of the Schiller.
Hope to see you in France soon !
@Anton, I met you on Schwabenhau this year and your teaching really inspired and helped me. Please keep going with this series. I would definitely pay for it on Patreon, ever though of that as alternative to CZcams?
Nice and crisp, in a very good way. Thanks for sharing :)
Looks very interesting! I'd also want to look at your interpretation of Glutzhauw
This video's been fantastic reference for my own fencing.
Nice to see it after while.
