- Join me for an in-depth review of the fabulous Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce, to find out why I think it's a best-in-class car!
We headed to some amazing, challenging roads to put the Giulia to the test as a sports saloon, to see if it stacks up against rivals like the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes C-Class.
The model tested here is a Giulia Veloce (kindly lent by James Suckling), which packs a 2.0l four-cylinder turbocharged engine putting out a healthy 280bhp and just under 300 lb-ft of torque, giving 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. I hope you get a sense of what it's like as I talk you through the way this gorgeous Italian saloon drives!
Is this an Alfa that finally lives up to the promise of it's looks and the prestigious badge on the nose? Absolutely...

Love my Veloce. The misano blue one with yellow brake calipers is just stunningly beautiful! And man, this car is such a treat to drive! I had numerous fast german cars but I never had that level of fun, that's for sure! Go and buy one, folks, right away. Worth every damn penny, that car...
Lucky man! Possibly my favourite colour choice too...
Great choice
This car is beyond belief, drove this in the soaking wet recently and the way it just soaks everything up and yet gives you just the right feedback on the limit is magic. Drove the new GR Supra down the same road in damp conditions and it felt scary, the giulia inspires huge confidence and it would simply away from the supra on an average b-road
Perfectly summed up. Wonderful driver's car and represents great value for money. Stepped up the interior from '21MY as well. Find your nearest AR dealer now folks...
Agree. Best sporty saloon around. My red one should arrive any day now. Can't wait
Professional and informative review. Many thanks.
Cheers Paul.
Great review!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you!
Your passion exudes mightily in your objective review. Truly enjoyed your narrative. Great job.
Thank you very much! Very kind.
Great review! Makes us want to test drive one!!
Thank you, you'd love it! It's made me want to try a quadrifoglio...
Great review...Alfa Gulia a masterpiece of Alfa Romeo, Italia.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you sir 👍🏽
Great video - just bought one in Misano! Agree on the brakes, they take some getting used to but work well when you’ve sussed them out.
Thanks David! You have a great car in the best colour.
I have the same in vesuvio grey color.. Outstanding machine.. Very much better than all german saloons i had in the past including audis, mercos and bms.. It is on a whole different level.. Only Porsche can make such perfect cars.. La Meccanica Delle Emozioni 😍
Completely agree, it's a car that sticks out in my mind above many others. Hope you're enjoying yours!
Spot on, you do gel with the brakes after a few months of dedicated practice!... Get down the box or simultaneously click both paddles into neutral and the low speed brake feel makes sense, I think the auto box pushes you on hence having to push the pedal much more than you might expect.
I think you're right. You do find yourself going very very quickly in Dynamic in no time at all 🤣
@@AshrafonCars yeah exactly, and then you can chuck it in 'Advanced efficiency' mode and cruise along the motorway in real comfort, and recover some of those mpg figures!! It's a seriously capable all rounder for the driving enthusiast who also has to suffer motorway miles.
@@AiMSmartCam exactly right. I couldn't believe the ride and refinement after how it performed on B roads.
Booked a test drive.
Brilliant review! If I were to replace my GT, this is what I would go for. Were you able to make it to the National Alfa day in Bicester?
Thank you, good choice! Unfortunately not, I was away on the day - in Milan funnily enough! 😄
@@AshrafonCars You can see how things went with this video :- czcams.com/video/eked1T9ymas/video.html
@@henryhol8538 looks mega - forget the Alfa museum! 🤣
I did just that - replaced my trusty Alfa GT 3.2l V6 for this exact model and never looked back! It's a dream!!! Only thing I miss is the low, menacing growl of the 3.2l V6 though...
@@neoroman0510 well done! Shame it doesnt sound amazing.
Good review. Zigzag Hill right?
Thank you. Yep!
A couple of weeks ago my Gt86 was going a bit quick, on very old tyres in the wet. And it fell off the road 😭😭😭😭🥺😭😭😭. Hmmm these are going for 20k now.......
Ahh mate...so sorry to hear that. Giulia would be great but more it's more impressive than it is fun compared to a GT86. 987 Cayman perhaps?
A excellent review on what is obviously a great car but the brakes sound a bit alarming
Thank you! You do get somewhat used to them but the pedal is just strange.
The break-by-wire are definitely somewhat jumpy, but you do get the feel for them eventually
On the looks, it's a couple of steps down from the 159.
The 159 was something else. Perhaps legislation and pedestrian safety is the reason, but the Giulia is still lovely in the metal.
I owned an Alfa Spider with the design based on the 159, it had a wonderful style. Now I own the Giulia Veloce 280CV in Misano Blue, and I really love its style as well. Maybe I little less particular and more similar to other sports sedans, but still very attractive. In fact, it won several design awards, and it is still better than the German competitors.
Good review, thumbs up for the poor Pakistani boy, funny joke specially if said while driving a 280cv Giulia :D :D
Thank you! 🤣
Come on, QV is the best. And I don't mean Veloce.
Great car but those wheels terrible
