Ford is doing with the Lariat what Ram did to the Laramie, and got them into serious trouble. Whats the point of a mid trim if youre charging Platinum and damn near Limited prices? Ford will still sell trucks, but not at the same clip that they have. Our large volume dealer here has THREE F450s for sale right now, and a slew of Platinums.
Yes, trade-ins have taken a dump, for a number of reasons JB mentioned but another thing: BUYING OVER MSRP! We knew this would happen. Guys paying $110-120K for 23 F250 Platinums and will be upside down for quite some time, plus unable to carry forward negative equity. And that is happening virtually on any vehicle that was bought over MSRP within the last 2 years. This is less about a recession, and more about normalcy returning and the market self-correcting. You can only have $2000 truck notes for so long.
Ford is trying to maximize the amount they make per vehicle. In all fairness to Ford, inflation is causing havoc for them as well as everyone else and they are in survival mode. Once we get past inflation, things will change.
They are over priced !!! Next lol
Right 😂😂😂
Ford has Priced themselves out of the Market ...........
So right on point all over prices
Absolutely
Also here Chicago and the subs Illinois near OHare Airport Chicago Illinois year 2018 and earlier there choices of trucks with snow plow prep pkg s.. and Covid _19..was becoming a major problem in China to the United States of America big rip offs leap forward 6 to 7 years plus ➕️ now Americans are faced with reality of W.W. 3 Currently now C.D.T Saturday morning of June _29_2024_ at 11 am...eetc..
People are stupid if they’re paying that
My exact superduty, 2019 f250 xlt premium package 4x4 with a 6.7 crew cab msrp December 2019 was $52k. I paid $46k OTD. Same truck now msrp is $73k built and priced a week ago and i checked on CarGurus, im within 2k at some dealers. Thats crazy. My truck with 68k miles bluebooks $41k right now and would probably sell around 52-56k if i traded in and the dealer placed it back on the lot. During the height of covid my truck bluebooked 13k more than i paid for it. Id love to move up to a dully to pull a larger camper we want but geez, cant get past prices surpassing what my house cost when i bought it. Let these companies fail.
2018 xlt premium FX4 6.2l for $44k in south texas.
Yeah not trading it.
Tow 12k during shredding season and 4rnr is DD.😊
Inflation my a**.
Trucks and all other products have suffered due to Bidenflation. Our currency value has fallen and most everything costs 30% more
I'm with you. I'm a 2020 F250 XLT Premium 4x4 7.3L Gas I got $52k Otd now it's about 20k over for the same spec. Dealers were calling me to buy my truck during Covid for the same price and glad I didn't sell. Just paid off the loan and kept it.
@@RH-qu7fb it is crazy. Same thing happened to me, I drove outta state to buy mine at Don Franklin in Kentucky. They must've called me a dozen times during covid asking to buy it. Their top offer was 61k, that's freaking nuts, same with realtors, I had 3 come to my door. It looks good on paper to sell and make the money but then what. You gotta buy another truck, you gotta buy another house and at crazy inflated prices so you dont win. Bet there was some crazy folks that did it. Now dont get me wrong, I did sell some land 2 years ago. Damn near tripled my money, but I still have my paid off house I'm living in. Cant wait for the economy to crash again cause if it does, I'm ready to grab more land. I've made more on real estate than my 20 year old roth ira, and faster.
My 2009 f250 XLT I bought used retailed 31k and my friends 2014 fx4 f250 retailed 45k so everything jumping thousands upon thousands for not much but fluff
They are crazy for asking 100g for those trucks. I bought a ram 3500 dually because I was saving 30k by not buying a ford platinum f450. It’s REALLY RIDICULOUS what they are asking for these. What will these trucks be in the year 2030 ? 150k ? Seriously? I mean next thing you know we will have to make a decision between a lambo urus or a ford super duty because the price will be the same !
Try knocking 30k off the MSRP!! I'd be seriously looking to upgrade.
I'm glad the lots are filling up. Eventually the prices will start dropping. The prices have gotten out of control for vehicles.
Maybe. Or they will just limit production and lay people off. The cost of components has increased. They can't build the truck for the same cost as pre-pandemic. So if the market dies because people can't afford them then they will just shift their focus to F150 or Ranger and put more of those on the lots and those that need a super duty for work are going to have to pay up. We've already seen the self correcting market back when the large SUV craze crashed when the cost of fuel doubled. Then people moved to compact cars and eventually crossovers as the mpg's increased and gas came down in price.
It is economy as general.. With High inflation, high interest rate, less spending money is around. US is getting into recession and is now our time to pay the pricing of unlimited spending. We keep this crazy spending of more than Covid time, will bring Argentina types of situations in USA in 20-30 years. Big mac combo is $10 now..
They can lay those union guys off at anytime, the uaw is a big reason for truck inflation
@@bndfishingThink the $36000 dollar loss on every EV they make has anything to do with it?? Company has to make a profit to stay in business right? Most UAW workers just trying to work everyday to provide for their families. You can thank EPA regulations for most of the high prices
@@spyder000069 have you priced a 1/2 ton lately. They are the same price or more than a gas HD.
Crappiest HD on that lot is 55k. Stupid fees and taxes...nobody paying 65k for a bare bones truck
The Accessories Wheels & Tires are Overpriced as well
Way,Way,Way insane over priced…..😮😮😮😮😮
Yup... I rather pay $50k for a restored pre-06 "classic" truck!
I ordered on on Memorial Day and it’s already built and shipped!
I still might not buy it.
The dealer is playing games with the price!
You got to get it in writing when you place the order on the price. Most are doing it now... playing games.
@@kmonto1971 that’s exactly what happened. Meanwhile they have 90, that’s right, 90 Super Duty’s on their lot!
You can’t make this up.
You have all the power now I would cancel in a heartbeat if they didn’t give you anything you want….
@@nickgallegos430 I am planning on it. I’m pretty sure that they will try to screw me!
What model and trim level did you order that got built so fast?
Been in a recession, not one is coming. Depression is what's looming. Few people have 100k for a truck, not too mention the sky high insurance rates now and everything else that goes along with owning a newer truck. It's all about affording the necessities of life
@@jeffkramer6034 Yes. insurance has went up 25% this year alone. I absolutely dread paying insurance and Taxes. I could pay cash for a really nice new toy and have money left to play for what we pay every year.
I can’t tell you how many CZcams videos I come across with everybody saying that trucks aren’t selling… and yet prices are higher than ever and they absolutely are selling.
Most CZcamsrs spew BS... of course it's to get views and make money and I don't blame them..... these vehicles are selling and they're selling quite well.....
Buying a brand new truck in this market is financial suicide. 100K for a truck that's worth 45 once I turn the key? Blow me.
Those sticker prices are insane.
If I walked on that lot right now looking for an SD, even though it's a diesel I'd gravitate right toward that "bare bones" red XLT. I don't care for all the higher end packages. I'd rather put my own "bells and whistles" on the truck. I believe I'm not alone in this respect. These up-trimmed trucks are just too expensive. Then, throw in 6.7/6.7HO diesel! Sheesh!
Last July, I received my special ordered '23 F250 XLT SuperCab short bed 7.3L/3.73. I paid $55K and perfectly happy with it. Yes, it's cloth interior, analog gauges, 40-20-40 front bench, 8" screen, but that's how I like them. I've added Line-X, BaKFlip, Yoko 35's, Xenon-Pro LED's, Gatorback mudguards, Bilstein shocks to name a few personal upgrades. The truck is still nowhere near those $90-100K thresholds.
I don't know how any normal person can afford any of these crew cabs. I am a ford man. I won't pay over 45k for a truck. This is not like buy a house. A truck is a consumable good, not an investment. Ford Corporate and dealerships better get a clue fast.
Looks like will be keeping my 2012 F150 for a while longer.
CP 4
There's a balance between being overpriced and the USD not having as much purchasing power.
The economy is running off monopoly money, just waiting to implode '08 style.
I think we shouldn't be focused on everything costing more, but our money being worth less.
Was looking for a new 3/4 ton. But I can't justify paying that kind of price for a car period. I can't understand how any working man can afford even a XL..
Our gas super duty has over 300,000 miles and we just decided to rebuild it rather than buy another. We ordered an engine from jasper and they said their sales have skyrocketed since the price of trucks have skyrocketed. Go figure.
2011 F250 Lariat 4X4 bought in 2011 sticker 62,500K paid 45,000K, bought brand new when they were hurting as they are now. Went to my Ford dealer as he got one in that I wanted to buy, sticker 95,000k, asked him how much off the top, his answer was 1,000k if I financed with them (which I would never do) and 1,000k if I traded in mine (which I would never do). Told him if he did not come off the top 18k he was not hurting enough and started to walk away. He tried to hand me his card and said if I change my mind to call him, I asked him if I could borrow his pen and wrote my phone number on his card handed it back to him and said no if you change your mind you call me.
Take $30k-$40k off of MSRP AND give me 0% for 72 months and I’d buy a Super Duty today! I will NEVER spend more than $60k for any truck!!!!
The economy is not good right now!! I work in residential HVAC in a wealthy county and people aren't spending unless they are forced to. My friend in Phoenix that works in HVAC has also seen a big decrease in business.
The truth is, most of them don't have cab lights!!
Shhhh, Ford would add an extra $1K to the price!😂😂😂
"94K, and doesn't come with a lot of options" -JB :)
I’m approaching 200k on my 17 F250 Lariat.. there’s absolutely no way that I would buy a brand new one. No way I’d pay a truck note equal to my house payment…
Superduty sell best in November/December. That is when business are buying to reduce their taxes. I bought mine back in 2018 and was able to deduct 100% depreciation up front instead of over X number of yearrs.
Ford has lost their dam mind on pricing.
Lots of superduties on the lots here in south louisiana.
I have my 2017 well equipped xlt powerstroke that i gave around $58k back then.
I wonder what the dealer invoices are averaging on these trucks….
I have a 2021 Silverado 2500HD LT Z71 Duramax. Dealer keeps trying to get me to trade for a new one. Not going to, my truck built the same way went from $63k to $75k. For the first time I am seeing new trucks piling up on their lot. The ford dealer down the street looks like this with trucks piling up. Had not seen super dutys sitting on their lot since 2019.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. They can go ahead and charge MORE for something like a Lariat Ultimate and up, and charge LESS for base Larait and below.
People buying a Platinum Tremor most likely have FU money and can and will pay whatever and barely flinch.
Everyone else needs to be able to get into an STX or a nicely equipped XLT without having to take out a second mortgage on the house they don't have.
The price’s are just silly!
With inflation as bad as it is people are not going to trade their 4 year old king Ranch they paid $65,000 for a $95-100,000 king ranch thats basically the same truck
It ain't the consumers fault it's 100% the dealerships and the makers I mean who in the hell is going to pay that kind of money for a truck!💁♂️
Seeing the same here in Maryland. My dealer A year ago they did not have any retail(Lariat or higher) SD’s in stock. Now they have a bunch of them. Basically back to pre COVID stock levels
They want $130k for one at a dealer near me…they also have a Harley Davidson F350 at $215k on sale for $199k…lol!!!..the truck manufacturers are out of their minds!!
Over priced indeed. My local Ford dealership, 98% of the lot are F150s, with majority of them being XL, XLT trims. They ordered very few F250s and F350s because they are very hard to sell now. Hell they have very few Expeditions on the lot. 4 years ago my Lariat was only 60K. Now you have XLTs that cost 60K.
Godzilla camshaft failure at 42,000 miles . Rear axles with paper thin axle tubes. 10 speed transmission that can’t make 150k. Oh and all the wonderful electronics.
I ordered my f350 HO in April and got mine in November 2023 and I am still happy with it.
Chevy recently is trying to sell their trucks at a low finance 1% interest on the loans trying to dump them too
Keeping my 2020 F350 lariat that's paid for. Ridiculous prices
The 20-22 SDs look WAYYYY better too. And you really don't need the H.O. Powerstroke because the standard diesel is a workhorse and all the engine you need. And Ford largely worked out the kinks mostly(CP.4 is still 50/50).
It's all about the ridiculous price point. The same thing happened to Ram several months ago and they started making people good deals and their sales picked back up. Now it's happening to Ford and I'll be happy to see the prices come down to a reasonable level.
I used a Ford F250 for towing, it had good power but when hooking the trailer up it dropped the rear suspension to the bump stops. Bought a similar-year Chevy 2500 with a little less power but handled the weight much better and the transmission shift points were more civilized. More pleasant as a daily driver.
Loving my 2012 Duramax 3/4 ton more and more. 90-100k is nucking futts. I look forward to my local dealer calling for the 7th time in 3 years asking when I’m going to “upgrade”. I think he should call it “bend over”. 😅
Trying to work a deal on a xlt premium, tremor with the black package 7.3. Sticker is 73,750. They’ve discounted it 4K and offered me 27k for my 2019 Ram 1500 warlock, payoff is 21k.i purchased the Ram used about 3 years back. With taxes and fees out the door is $65,900. I hit them back offering &64k out the door, should hear back from them today. The dealership is in Virginia and I’m in North Carolina. All my correspondence have been thru text messages lol. If I get them to 64k it’s gonna be a done deal!
Dealers can take 20% off and still make money
What would be the price on the exact Lariat trim? I say that because the Lariat will retain slightly higher resale if/when you do sell it.
I believe a nice trucks should be around 70 to 80k and a mack daddy dually in the 90's. But a single wheel truck shouldn't be much over 80. Trucks in my opinion are about 15 to 20k overpriced. But I get it I sell john deere and people buy a 30k gator with heat and ac for there property quite often.
JB, thank you for your video. At the current price point, it’s unsustainable to keep a production line full. Ford will have no choice but to offer super financing deals or game over.
Future production will be assembled with 80 % robotic appliances. Coming to a production line near you!
We found a dealer hour north of us has 2 f350 limiteds available. My Freind/ co worker picks up one of them Monday… while I’m still waiting on my f450 limited order to be scheduled. I have 2 identical orders in at separate dealerships
imo, the inventory issue is due to a spike in premium vehicle sales from the post-pandemic exodus. All the city boys are done moving and buying their city boy trucks, and the analysts at Ford are too up their own butts to understand that spike in demand was a spike, not a change.
Have me a f350 2021 tremor, 7.3 blackout package, winch, untilatr package. I got a pretty good deal because i ordered when everyone thought the world was ending in 2020
I drive a 2001 F250 7.3TD LARIAT PLATINUM EDITION Crew Cab. MSRP 42k I paid 37.500
And because its a 7.3, it may be the last truck you ever buy.
The everything collapse is right around the corner. Get your popcorn out and try to weather the storm.
Let's go Brandon
I think it shows that people are prioritizing saving money especially with these high interest rates.
I hit the lottery I'm buying the Platinum Tremor, until then I'll dream!
Same 🤣
Why would you drive a shitty truck around? That’s low class thinking. Wealthy people drive luxury cars / SUVs.
Maybe the $80,000 starting point could be the reason🤷♂️
Trade in value does have something to do with the slow up forsure on selling new vehicles. But what I have noticed is like a month or 2 back there was a switch flipped and was flipped to the off position and companies that I never thought would be hurting our. It's crazy scary right now. This will be the great reset for car companies as well as a majority of us
Where I live they only had 4 on the lot, had to custom order what i needed. They used to have upwards of 20.
I ordered a ford transit regular height long. Took over a year to get. Started leaking oil at 6,000 miles. Took to dealer, rear main seal. Tore the new van apart said it was fixed. Now leaking oil again. Back to dealer.
Oh boy time to replace my dying truck for my carpenter or plumbing business. I don't need anything crazy just something to fit multiple big dudes and an 8ft bed for ply wood or pipes nothing crazy. No high trim or anything a base xl trim work truck is fine and a less powerful gas engine is fine along with 2wd since it'll never be in conditions bad enough to need it. Now let me spec a very basic 6.8L 2wd xl f250 in a supercab with an 8ft bed..... OH MY GOD THEY WANT AT LEAST 50K????
Makes my 24 3500 LTZ CCLB DRW sound like a steal!!! No way these trucks are worth that much...and then add in the higher interest rates....count me out boss...
Interest rates are Stupid high
Look at the prices! We ain’t trying to spend 100k anymore. We’re pissed. Then, they still want to mark up and play hardball with all the higher level trims. I don’t want a basic truck for these crazy prices!
Very limited supply in Ontario Canada which is our biggest market. You essentially have to custom order to get one which means no buying power at all.
Imagine with todays interest rates how much of your monthly disposable income this vehicle would consume? No money for savings, charity and other more important things left. Not me.
They all stopped selling because they are way overpriced, interest rates are high and quality is way down. Everyone got used to lesser quality for more money during covid.
Still very few Super Duty'd here in the PDX area. Most are F250 XL's on the lots.
Our local Ram dealer has six 2500 Tradesman's under 48k.
They do have some in the 90's but the folks in my crew have them to work so the cute accessory's are unwanted.
I bought a 2024 SuperDuty for less than $48k. It depends on what you want. It’s also completely bogus to say they are not selling. The Ford order bank for these consistently has 14,000 retail units to be scheduled for production. It’s one of Fords best selling vehicles.
That's a barebones truck that should have been $35K MAX.
@@SliderFury1 bare bones crew cab with a solid gas engine, a few interior options and a buttload of payload. The same truck cost $35k in 2009 and didn’t have half the technology this one has as standard.
20 to 40 thousand price increase.
I can't imagine why.
When fordss where selling they where atleast 20 thousand high then.
It's well known ford trucks make them the most profits.
This has been the case for 20 years.
They have a problematic fuel pump. A $8,000 exhaust system that doesn't last.
Their is a pump design that they could use. And make the epa required exhaust with flanges so it can be cleaned.
The price’s are just silly!
With inflation as bad as it is people are not going to trade their 4 year old king Ranch they paid $65,000 for a $95-100,000 king ranch thats basically the same truck honestly it’s not even fun to go look at new vehicles anymore. I can afford them if I wanted, it’s always been a bad financial decision but now it’s irresponsible to pay these prices.
Cost. And that’s coming from an owner of a 23’. They should try no charge for the diesel promo like Ram and might sell a few more.
That's when they had the market adjustment added to it. That's all people got in $40,000 upside down
Those Tremors with the red 6.7 power stroke label are a high output diesel. The most powerful diesel on the market. You can get XLT 7.3 liter gasser for $58K F250 Super Duty.
I can see being woefully upside down in this current market. The example you used probably was 5-8k upside down on the vehicle they traded PLUS paid a $10k or maybe more bump sticker and then with the used values dropping due to everyone having almost pre-Covid inventory and yeah, you will be bad upside down.
As for why trucks have slowed down, I’ll use me for an example. In “normal” times I probably would have already traded my 2022 to a 2024 to restart the warranty (I’m at nearly 47,000 miles now) but not only are current interest rates triple what I have on my 2022 Silverado, the price of a new 2024 equivalent truck to mine is nearly $10k higher msrp than mine was.
So even with nearly $14,000 in trade equity the price of the truck has went up a lot compared to what I paid and interest is stupid. So my payment would go up a lot to get an equivalent optioned truck.
Even the Custom trim is about $3-4k higher msrp than my LT was when I got it. So even one of those would increase my payment by an over $40. Not terrible, but I’m not paying more money for technically a lesser truck.
I’m sure the Ford and especially Ram guys are even worse than us Chevy guys due to the astronomical prices they were paying for 2022-2023 trucks lol.
Ford Motor Company Kentucky Truck Plant were they build the Super Duty has over 125,000 order bank. They run every day building the Super Duty so this video is untrue
you should do the math, its not hard to understand how people could be 50k upsidedown. people that paid market adjustment made a very bad financial choice, its pretty obivous and because people did it all over the place, the dealers kept doing it. $95k truck two years ago, $25k markup, used prices dropping and only worth $65k now. thats $75k loss not including financing and down payment.
I would also buy a new truck if the prices were reasonable (-30k), who cares how much Ford and the dealer takes a hit on their gouging.
Im shopping for a new HD truck. Between GM, Ford and Ram. Ford is the one with prices still above msrp. And Rams Im seeing some about $10k below msrp.
Shop in TX. 6-8k off msrp on Ford super duties.
I want a diesel and could really use one and it’s sad that a working guy like me can’t get what he needs!!
Everyone that needed a compensator have already purchased one?
They are trying to sell $60k trucks for $100k…it’s highway robbery!..smarten up people!..stop paying these ridiculous prices!!
Hello JB, I really like your videos, very informative. I live in the Los Angeles area and supply for Ford and GM are very low. As soon as the trucks come in they are gone for the most part, especially duallies. Personally, I am waiting for a F450 Platinum that I ordered to come but supposedly there are issues with part availability holding up my bulld.
$100,000.00 for a truck? Really? And people think I am stupid for not replacing my 54 Chrysler wagon and my 73 GMC Camper Special.
Crazy prices- father bought a diesel 22 f350 lariat 4x4 dually . For 71k brand new.
I have the 2024 platinum 6.7 HO. I love it, worth every penny.
By me in Lower NY i see people holding onto their diesel and gas HD trucks now. Used to always see the latest models out. Also see more tundras than usual.
Super Duty’s are not even available in Dallas area. Very few anyway. Plus notice how many you have on this video are diesel’s. It seems like everyone is going gas.
Would love to post a screen shot of my 2014 King Ranch window sticker......all in, $66,350......I understand it doesn't have the same tech of the new ones.....but......
Not only are they overpriced they break down dealerships refused to fix them properly and they never seem to warranty anything
Everything stopped selling , price is too high interest rates are outrageous… most people can’t handle a 2k truck …. And the rest of us don’t want too !!
Most vehicles have stopped selling. Prices are too high, interest rates are too high. Toyota is the only one still selling and only on specific models.
I don't see new truck prices coming down. If anything MSRP is just going up. With that Said. Ive seen local dealers discounting stock on the lots. I just placed my order for a MY24 F350 Platinum Tremor 6.7 H.O.
What dealer is that?
For sure. MSRP may stabilize, however Ford, GM, and Ram have increased incentives substantially.
Hello from Houston, Texas, I like your channel. I just can’t get over that ugly front end. I’d rather wait for the refresh at the end of next year for what I hear should be a 2026.
I want to know the salaries of the people that can afford these trucks. do we really have this many rich people in the USA?
There's a lot of people in this country that make good money, believe it or not... as far as these high-priced vehicles go, they are actually selling quite well... Projected sales of new cars and trucks in the US This year is estimated to be over 15 million... of course no records set but still pretty darn good.......
Out the door those trucks are over $100,000. Add a high finance interest rate and your car payment becomes a mortgage payment!😉😂😂
I will keep my 2006 Loaded XLT F250 Super Crew (93,000 miles ...NO Problems, Bullet Proofed@90K for peace of mind).
100k+ and 7 to 9 % interest. They'll sit...
There is a truck price crisis and its been happening for quite some time now. Manufacturers and dealers are the last people to acknowledge this. Both will go out of business before these trucks are purchased at these prices.
Overpriced trucks, high interest rates, and a 4 digit payment (unless you purchase in cash)…who can afford that in this economy?
I’ve been a Ford heavy duty pickup buyer for my whole life, but these prices are ridiculous and I do need a truck now but won’t be buying a New Ford, again their prices have gone crazy.
P.S they also don’t look that great.
I don't see any on the lots here in Houston
They’re just becoming way too expensive and people who are struggling to just keep up with the day-to-day bills cannot afford trucks like these anymore. So disappointing. These truck manufacturers are taking advantage of people and their price points are not realistic.
We all customers need to get together and stop buying trucks, forcing dealers to lower their vehicle prices
been changing for quite a while now, Utah is small with low population.....in the big cities been going like this for 6 months and longer
