- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Naples to Rome along the Rome-Formia-Naples Railway in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Rome-Formia-Naples railway-also called the Rome-Naples Direttissima in Italian ("most direct")-is a part of the traditional main north-south trunk line of the Italian railway network. It was opened in 1927 as a fast link as an alternative to the existing Rome-Naples via Cassino line, significantly reducing journey times. High-speed trains on the route use the parallel Rome-Naples high-speed railway, which was partially opened in December 2005, and fully in December 2009.
It is a 214 km long line, standard gauge, electrified with 3 kV DC.

Filming between the Formia and Latina stations is exceptional. The colors of the sunset, the gleaming steel strips of the rails, the colors of the signals, make this shot the most beautiful I've ever seen. Erlauben Sie mir eine kleine Präzisation:
Bis etwa Minute 17:00 (Aversa), befahren wir die Strecke Napoli-Foggia. Danach eine Verbindungsstrecke bis Villa Literno (Minute 27:00) und erst dort erreichen wir die Direttissima (DD).
Die DD hat ihren Ursprung im Bahnhof Napoli Piazza Garibaldi (unterirdisch) und geht über Napoli Mergellina und Campi Flegrei bis Roma Termini. Bis Villa Literno wird sie heute
nur noch von S-Bahnen benützt.
Die DD Napoli-Roma ist die erste der 3 DD und wurde 1927 eröffnet. Sie ist bald 100 Jahre alt und war von Anfang an durchgehend elektrifiziert und frei von Niveau-Uebergänge.
Sie ist für Geschwindigkeiten von 200km/h geeignet. In den meisten europäischen Länder fuhr man damals mit Dampflokomotiven!

Il pezzo forte della linea resta sempre il rettilineo di dodici chilometri, sui sedici totali tra le due stazioni, lungo la tratta Cisterna-Campoleone. Si racconta che negli anni settanta, un locomotore in prova avesse stabilito il record di velocità italiano, per l'epoca, di 278 km/h.

C'est vraiment une très belle vidéo. Le final qui se termine en nocturne donne du mal pour suivre sur une carte la fin du parcours, même si il est incontestable que les moyens ont été mis en oeuvre au niveau de la qualité des images.

It's always very nice. The train is IC 728 Syracuse-Palermo-Rome. However, the locomotives of this train are two E464, one at the head and the other at the rear. it is not the E402

Tra Aversa e San Marcellino - Frignano c'è un diramazione che porta a Caserta e viceversa. Serve per bypassare la stazione di Aversa e arrivare da Benevento o Caserta fino a Roma Termini via Formia. Di solito quella diramazione viene usata dai treni merci, Regionali Veloci Roma - Benevento/Caserta e da alcuni Intercity/Intercity Notte provenienti da Bari, Lecce e Taranto

@cavallopazzo4744 Sure you can. I put a camera on the train drivers cab and film...afterwords there is quite a lot of work to produce, find and add the information to include in the video, include speed data.....and , the result is this.

It was IC 728, so no MDVC/MDVE coaches, only classic intercity ones

Se è per quello alcuni treni Roma-Napoli impiegavano anche meno, 1.35. Oggi tutti gli Italo e Frecciarossa impiegano 1.13 ma non su questa linea. Questo del video non è un treno ad alta velocità.

Due to what is ironically called "rete snella" (lean network) here in Italy, i.e. the practice undertaken for some years by RFI, the railway infrastructure manager, to remove the third track in many small stations to save on maintenance costs for the switches.

Beh, è normale che il segnale di protezione possa cambiare aspetto, naturalmente in senso meno restrittivo, dopo che si è oltrepassto il segnale di avviso, se nel frattempo si è liberata la sezione antistante.

Nice. But the amount of urban space wasted by the Roma Termini track approach is staggering. That is precious urban space wasted and cuts off the neighborhood. When will Trenitalia finally create a deck over all those approach tracks and develop many thousands of apartments, shops, and hotel rooms? See Grand Central Station and Midtown Manhattan. Trenitalia could make many tens of billions of euros on such development in all the major cities of Italy, especially Rome and Milan. Trenitalia should call New York -- KKR, Blackrock, etc. They have plenty of capital to invest in stuff like this.
