I genuinely saw this man as a hero when I was younger. Visited NYC in 2000 and everything I heard was positive about his efforts to clean up the city. Then his work following 9/11 was almost superhuman. I watched his interview with Piers Morgan yesterday and couldn't believe it was the same person.

“Stop and Frisk” is a huge violation of personal rights. Makes sense it would be Giuliani’s idea.
I mean, I'd do it if it means that others would be able to feel safer.
It's rarely one mans idea and I do agree that is a constitutional infringement for sure. But if used correctly would be a great tool. That means when we know for certain a person committed a crime of murder we can take that gun from them so they don't hurt any others. That said Rudy can't control meat head New York police officers and that's the problem. The head staff always like meat heads to be street cops. If you are too smart they will hand that potential cadet over to the feds where burucrats rule and support each other. The laws have to be tough so good police can use power where needed to stop evil.
Rudy hopefully will continue to uphold constitutional law or he will be removed. But as of now I can't see where he is an evil man.
@@shiftyclouds9591 I grew up in NYC during Rudy’s term as mayor. It was always the white people who supported the “stop & frisk” approach as a means of curtailing the spread of crime. It was seen as a way to ensure the safety of our city. Funnily enough, it’s some of those SAME people today that are against mask wearing. I have a few of them as Facebook friends. It’s ironic.
The idea the whole time was to exert power over people who seemed suspicious (poor black people mostly) to remind them the police were always watching

Just have to say, that I live in Rural Australia, the outback if you will, and I knew who he was when he was taking on the Mafia, and when he became Mayor. New York is huge world famous city, and along with London and Hong Kong, the engine of the world's financial markets and global trade.
Given that US culture is much more globally exported than either Chinese or British, the mayor of such a famous and important city is going to be pretty well known if he cultivates even the smallest profile.
