  • For an influential group of American Christians, support for Israel -- and hatred of Iran -- are based in a biblical prophecy.

When President Trump authorized the drone strike that killed the powerful Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, he wasn't just flexing America's muscle in the Middle East.
He was also acting on the advice of a politically powerful group of evangelical Christians who believe that the US and Israel are part of the Bible's plan to bring about the second coming of Jesus.
Once considered a fringe element of the religious right, evangelical Christian Zionists are playing an increasingly visible role in Republican politics. Today, unprecedented access to the Trump administration has given them an opportunity to reshape the Middle East.

The Bible says "Thy shall not murder" and "Love thy neighbor" and "love thy enemies" and "be slow to anger" and encourages us to be gentle and kind and loving. Not hostile or discriminatory or vengeful or greedy.

@Chuck Nelson That is the old testament, instructions for those specific people at that specific time. That chapter does not mean christians today should do any of what was instructed back then, it wasn't instructed to all christians. The midianites brought s*xual immorality, idolatry and human sacrifice to the Israelites of that time (Numbers 25)
Numbers 31 is God's righteous judgement and punishment upon the midianites for corrupting God's people.
That is God's vengeance on sin, that passage is not condoning that behavior for anyone but the people it was instructed to- and certainly not now that Jesus has taken God's rightful vengeance upon Himself on our behalf.
The old testament is before Christ took all of Gods wrath upon Himself, so in Numbers 31, God's wrath was still necessary.
However, the new testament is after Christ took Gods wrath upon Himself.
Jesus allowed God to forgive us of our sins, meaning punishment (like that God gave to the Midianites) is not necessary anymore.
The majority of christians follow the ways of the new testament. Aiming to be peacemakers, loving towards everyone, even our enemies, gentle, kind, generous, forgiving, christ-like and slow to anger.
But that doesn't mean we are or claim to be perfect- we recognize we are sinners and imperfect, if we were perfect, we wouldn't need Jesus.
I understand if you don't agree with me, but if you read the new testament, you will see that it does not encourage violence or greed, but only peace and love.
      Have a good day☺️

Actually, the Bible says NOTHING about Christ returning when the Temple is complete. The Bible says The Abomination of desolation will sit on the Throne in the newly rebuilt Temple. This is NOT Jesus, but rather someone claiming to BE Jesus who will fool the entire world, in other words, the Anti Christ.
So yes, to fulfill Bible Prophesy, Jews will return to Israel, They'll rebuild the Temple and then get ready to run for the hills (as Jesus says in the Bible). Hopefully, this won't happen for another 50 years but with Agenda 2030, it's likely to happen sooner than that.
One last thing, Jesus will be coming for us, but he won't be on the ground, he'll be in the air and we meet him in the clouds (according to scripture). As long as you remember that, you won't fall for any false Christs. Jesus himself said, there will be alot of people saying they are me, don't believe any of them. God bless!

And this is in direct contradiction to Jesus real teachings, no where in scriptures ie. the new testament did our Lord and savior teach this heresy, it is in direct contradiction to His teachings,
all of it from the rebuilding of the temple to the violence that takes place, we true believers do not believe this. but many of our brethren are, and must come to that conclusion for themselves. and many have seen the truth and walked away,
Jesus taught that His kingdom is not of this world if it were then his disciples would fight. but he said now it is not of this world the battle he said is a spiritual one and his followers are to fight it in prayer on their knees and to tell the world about his love for us, all and how repentance and faith in him saves us,
He said that "true love does not harm to another" Jesus was not a politician He was / is the savior of all who believe of all races,
and political stripes if they turn from their sins and ask his forgiveness he will forgive and set them free from their sins and the guilt that goes with wrong doing, and place our feet on the right path.
so i say to you be safe, be saved in Jesus name. this "Christian?" Zionism is not of God.

The same thing happened over and over again before that too. The Jews would lose their land be exiled and then they would come back to reclaim it back from whomever took it.
