Where did all the Grumman cougar twin videos go? New video every week?
The FIRST thing I would do with any of these, is wash them. People think it's the last thing to do ... but wash it and not only do you stop grit getting into things when you move them, but you also see fresh leaks as they happen.
Not to mention the psychological effect of seeing it clean and shiny
I wanted to see it clean just for the feel good factor, makes good sense re oil/fuel leaks.👍
I think that’s one of the first item on Annuals.
Dirt/grime/whatever can hide so many issues. Wash it first....
@@bryanrocker5033 I would say there is not much water around.
The most important thing I have to say is your son does an absolutely AMAZING job doing the filming!
He knows exactly what angle to capture things at and always following with no immaturity that would ruin the video.
Well done little bro! You have a bright future ahead
Yep. Reminds me a lot of Vice Grip Garage. The style of presenting and explainig things, the father-son-interaction, etc...
that kid's voice "oh man that's cool" with the flaps coming down, priceless quality dad-son time!
The previous owner did an amazing pickle job. When you turned those continentals so easy and both sets of mags were popping I could not believe it. When the fired up and ran right away, was just more evidence on how well it was loved. Wow! Absolutely an amazing find.
From the oil and plugs, it looks as if the old lady was given a full service before being laid up.
@@shanehnorman She sure was! No WAY those engines would have turned over so easily otherwise. You could even hear the compression in the cylinders (good sign as to cyl. wear)when he was hand turning it. I think not *too* much $$ and some TLC and that's a perfectly airworthy machine again.
My thoughts exactly! The previous owner love that plane and prep it well so one day she will run again:).
JEALOUSY IS A CAUSTIC, HARSH WORD TO EVER USE... BUT, I GOTTA SAY DAMN, I'D JUST LOVE TO HAVE A SWEETIE LIKE THIS 310 TO LOVE & CARE FOR..
@@kkrobertson1,not believable that this plane would actually fire up with that old fuel in it.
The C310 is the best of the lot. Your son is a lucky kid to have crazy gem of a dad like you jimmy.
This is the second video of his I've watched and both times I've wished I had a dad like that and hope one day I can offer an experience like this to my son.
What a nice to say by both of you!
Jimmy, do you know the meaning of the term due diligence? LOL Good luck, the 310 looks like the winner.
It's amazing that a gay guy had a natural born kid
That is a classic 310. Sex on wings I call them. The most beautiful twin ever made.
Jimmy's channel is about to take off. I saw the last video story come up in my google feed. I admire you persistence and risk tolerance, looks like it is paying off!
I agree! he is on the right path. If he can keep to at least one video a week he will do great. CZcams rewards regular uploading.
I agree ☝️ I just found his channel and absolutely love the content and look forward to all the adventures!
We are the early birds
Yea boi! I found him through the front page. I love this stuff, even better to see some wrenching on engines!
good reply.
Important lessons to learn here-
1) everything fares better if you can store it indoors
2) keep engine openings covered as much as possible when in storage
Unbelievable that both started right up after that long. Just awsome watching old stuff run again. And man, your kid is so lucky to have the playground he does! I'm sure he will be a great man when he grows up
Dont forget they are mutch fake video ,i am a technician, i see it often
@@marcmercedes2707 So.. you are a fake technician.? What are you doing here..?
@@marcmercedes2707 I can tell English isn’t your first language either. So does that make you a fake English speaker too?
The 310 is a great light twin. She deserves a new lease on life. Fix her up and fly her !
I have owned Cessna 310's for over 21 years. MY opinion is this airplane needs to be put back in the air. Of all the choices in light twins out there today, the 310 is the best choice. It is fast and comfortable plane to own and fly. It is expensive only if you choose the WRONG people to do the maintenance on it. There are a lot of good shops on airports that don't have high rent. They can do great work and not take you to the cleaners. People who take their airplanes to big airport maintenance have to be not concerned with cost. The most expensive and the poorest annual I have gotten in 21 years on my airplane was at a high rent big airport.
You are lucky to be able to fly any time you want. I wish I could fly again. I really miss flying.
And you are right about the cost. Some times doing the repair yourself is the best way to go.
A lot of the expense of cessna twins twins comes from the increasing rarity and price of parts that need to be replaced. But cessna twins like the 320 and 310s really are about the best planes you can get without going to something like a king air.
@@Anon-fw5qy Agree, but what I was aiming at is that the cost of labor and inspections like annuals can be twice+ the cost at shops on smaller "low rent" airports for the same service.
@@chucksdesk You are definitely right the price of annuals can vary greatly based on where you choose to get it done. It's certainly important to consider things like that carefully since the costs can definitely add up.
Hearing your kid go “oh man that’s cool” and hearing the excitement made every penny that plane cost worth it. That’s awesome man I’m glad you two have a common passion/hobby. Looking forward to times like this with my son.
Jimmy I have to say I am really enjoying your videos, only found them last week and I have watched 90% of them. I wish I had a relationship like you and your son. Please keep them coming, I’ve told a few of my friends and you crack them up as well. One day I will get my health back and hopefully be able to travel and meet you for a coffee and burger, my treat. Thank you from an old man from down under. Cheers Wiz
I actually yelled "yes" when she fired,
37 years,,, incredible.
A true diamond in the rough. Love the paint job, Red, White and Blue. Bet it’ll clean up real well.
She's a keeper, this one.
It’s awesome that you do all this with your son! We need to be doing a lot more of this in our schools to teach kids every lesson that Aviation has to offer. Great Dad work! Thanks for sharing this!
Jimmy, I love watching these videos. I'll never afford a plane myself, even an old abandoned one, but seeing you resurrect these old neglected ladies is a lot of fun. Makes me wish I knew you and I could work with you on some of these, it would be so much fun. I'll be watching!
Same here
All too frequently, a long abandoned aircraft is a hugely expensive aircraft. Airworthiness directives, repairing corroded components and more take a toll.
Think recovering a car from a pond after a decade or so, the body isn't rusted out, don't mean that the engine and drivetrain aren't rusted together as a solid block.
Or that the shock mounts are corroded through...
Still, I'd still go for it. Get a cooperative A&P type to inspect and train, at least until I could certify in A&P, go to town restoring.
Impressive! Must’ve been put away correctly and prepared for long term storage.
Cheers for the spoiler 👍🏼

I would sell the other two and absolutely keep that Cessna. Holy Mother Of God What A Score you made there Jimmy. One of the few times I'm genuinely envious.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Hi Jimmy, I really enjoy your productions. I think I have viewed them all and many of them more than once. I don't know how old this video is at this point but I hope the 310 gets brought back to flying status, you find it a loving home and you make some money on it! You and your son have a great relationship and he is a sharp kid. I admire your positive attitude, your aircraft knowledge, and your humor. One of the things I respect the most is you don't find the need to use bad language in your videos. Keep up the interesting, educational and humorous work. Thank you!
It may have not ran for 37 years but this has definitely been maintained over that period of time. Amazing to see, that’s how it’s done.
Yeah when he pulled that dipstick out i was like o.O
true this thing way too good.
It crashed in 1982, January 15th.
Same thing I thought.
@@Butchsiek how do you know?
Jimmy, I wanted to take a second and tell you that I like everything about your channel. I like the jokes, I like that I learn stuff and I like the fact that you’re a family guy and you have kids that are interested in your hobbies. You are one of the smartest and nicest people I have seen. Good luck on future endeavors and please don’t ever stop your channel. Thanks for sharing.
I couldn't have said it better myself, this guy is great.
Me, too.
What a good guy...
@Jimmy, What he said! ;-)
Thanks all, I just recently found this channel and I am mesmerized by how cool he is and the stuff he does. I wish I could’ve did this stuff with my dad
Would love to see these restorations or specifically the 310 back to flying condition. Glad I found this channel. Give old planes a chance. I fly 1957 KC-135Rs. They're a USAF workhorse!
Love it! I grew up watching Sky King on black and white TV in the 50s. His second aircraft was a Cessna 310B and his registration IIRC was N975B. I looked up your aircraft's registration number and it's registered to a John Novak in my native hometown of Pittsburgh PA. Cert issued in 1975. It shows it as a 1955 Cessna 310. Very cool! I left Pittsburgh in 1964 for college in Youngstown, drafted after graduation in 69 and wound up in Colorado thanks to Uncle Sam for the last 51 years. Quite a pathway for me, wondering about the pathway of your Cessna. I love General Aviation though I could never afford a license. A few friends take me up occasionally. I'm a volunteer for the last 14 years at our local aircraft museum and I love the airport atmosphere! Thanks for your rescue efforts on old aircraft. I always think you guys who do rescue work on any vehicle need to pack a leaf blower, a shop vac and a pressure washer! First things first, make'm look prettier! Can I correctly assume that there is an airport runway or a grass airstrip within taxi distance of these stored aircraft? 😉👍👍
Love the father son love.... and doing this together like this.... I’m an airline pilot now... and I owe it all to times like this !
Brilliant channel, I love the fact you have the passion and desire to bring old planes back to life while creating lifelong memories with your son. Keep up the great work 👍
This video brings back a lot of memories. I was on a team that revived two surplus USAF U-3A’s (1957 C-310A aka Blue Canoe) from Davis-Monthan AFB in 1971. We made one “good” airplane from the two. Got my ATP in it; great flying little airplane.
I really didn't think that would start. That's amazing, it's actually a nice looking plane.
What a great find! So glad you guys are having fun together with it. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing - you have 105k subscribers, I see this video was posted 20 minutes ago and you already have 2,649 views before me! Congrats on a great channel - love getting the notifications and watching you get these beauties going again!
I swear he had like 5k when I starred following earlier this year
Definitely is one of the best “barn find” 310 ever , what a beauty ❤️
I am not a pilot, but I am a gearhead and anyone who loves old mechanical money pits (aka projects) has to get excited about this video. Please show us how this one gets rescued.
I wish i had a Dad like you the pure joy from your son the entire time was so heart warming
Been waiting all week for this! So freaking cool! That plane must be returned to flight status, it totally deserves it!😍😍
I sure hope you restore this airplane, I just love the look of these twin engine planes and would love to see the restoration process and it in the air again!!!!
Jimmy you are a real positive person, An inspiration! You and your son enjoy what the two of you do. Don't quit. Keep your channel going. Kicked out of the house? No problem for guys like you. Once you are able to return; you will be KING!
I have to say that I have just loved this latest series of yours! Trying to bring these “girls” back to life has been an absolute hoot to watch. You have had me sitting on the edge of my seat as you work your “quirky magic and cheering out loud with every successful start. The satisfaction you feel when they finally start is obvious.. and clearly genuine! well done!. You can be sure I will be clicking on every video you create on this resurrection series! As a bit of a side note.. I watch another CZcams channel from a guy who specialises on cleaning/detailing/paint correcting aircraft. His work is also incredible and fun to watch (strangely) It might make for a great collaboration video where you pick one on your resurrected wonders and have him work his magic on it as a final send up! .. I won’t mention his channels name unless you are interested as I don’t want to come across as someone trying to steal your thunder. If you’d like his name , just shout out and I pass it on.. again.. well done!!!!
Just Amazing. That baby was taken care of over the years. Your avionics packages need upgrading and I wouldn't trust any hose or wire in the plane but that engine start bought tears to my eyes!
😀
That one would love to see restored to flight worthy condition and Avionics upgraded will cost some, but well worth it. That a good plane.
I had a C 310B in the '90s, I loved it! N5435A, s/n 35635. It was in USAF U-3B livery (only thing I didn't like... I'm retired Navy!). It's still flying and owned by the American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum in Dallas TX.
Totally educational. Thanks for sharing "Your World".
I don't even know how I found your video, but I love your enthusiasm over working on these planes! you are great!
thanks for sharing your passion!
Congratulations, your channel is blowing up! 58,000 subs in one month! You don't need me to tell you you're doing something right, lol! Keep going mate, loving the content!
I think you’ll have a good time shopping for old, abandoned aircraft at Deer Valley Airport in Arizona. I’ve seen plenty of aircraft there that definitely haven’t flown in years, including a T-33 Shooting Star.
You got a good deal with the 310. I’ve been looking for a Cessna 310 myself, and it looks like you found the perfect one to work on, invest in, and bring back to life. 310 is absolutely the keeper. Working on restoring this one, would definitely be a video series, that I would absolutely watch!!!
You got to love Jimmy's World and his magic touch with older planes... Keep those Videos coming Jimmy...
I just stumbled across your channel . I love airplanes I wish I had learned to fly I am so touched that your son is right there with you . You can hear the excitement or the disappointment in his voice this is so cool your relationship with your son and getting these old hanger queens going thank you for the videos

I gotta tell ya that your son is one lucky fellow to have a dad like you! What a team! I am so impressed with your relationship with your son.
One of the most exiting youtube channels at the moment.
Great videos, Jimmy! I got my PPL in 1980, but ran out of money when I went to Graduate School. The only thing I fly now is an X-Plane Fight Simulator :-). Your videos have inspired me to get the plane you are working on and fly them on the simulator (A lot cheaper). I love my Cherokee 6 and now I have to get a 310. Good luck with your 310.
Jimmy the videos of these aircraft are great. And the joy you get from getting them cranking is infectious .
Jimmy that was amazing. Credit must go to the owner for doing a great job of taking care of those engines.
Pretty amazing you got it going so quickly compared to what it could of been! Thanks I’ll sub👍
Jimmy it be nice to see a follow-up video on all three aircraft where they went, that sort of thing. This one in this video, I hope it becomes airworthy and see it flying again. Stay tuned right ? Cheers Dion
stand by.
@@therealjimmysworld do you ever fly these planes after you get these started and inspected?
@@dirtbikemaniac9128 the airworthiness has probably expired on them, they need an annual, engines should be rebuilt after sitting so long. I think he gets them airworthy like he did with the Hooptie plane before flying them.
I gotta say, for being from the 50s, this thing is beautiful and looks so sleek and streamlined! Love it! I should have gone to bed a while ago but I can't stop watching! I'm hooked on your channel!
Aloha Jimmy you scored !! My dad use to repair those great planes here in Hawaii and i remember doing 100 hours checks
on them with him!!! All great memories, with sore necks so many screws!! Really like your video's and please them flying!!!!
Luckily the year 1984 has just arrived so that plane should be good to go!
Orwell would be proud of your wit

1984 for damn sure! Your comment is probably lost on most people, because what used to be required reading is nearly totally unknown today. Replaced with the goddam dummass video games etc.A result of the Dumbing of America, a deliberate plan which includes ass-holes like John Dewey the "Father of American Education". The DESTROYER of education is more like it. Lock and load, my friend. It's coming.
By this video, I am looking forward to your uploads. I'm officially a fan.
Hi pal, just found your channel and I'm really enjoying it, I find myself hooked to see you get these old birds running again, I'm catching up on the videos you've already done, and you have a new follower now, kind regards from the East Yorkshire coast uk 🇬🇧
I got so happy seeing the engine is actually good shape and when they plugged the battery and all the lights came on!.. beautty. Just made my day
Always waiting for this videos🙌
Jimmy, as a healthcare professional PLEASE WHERE RESPIRATORY PROTECTION when dealing with anything this old that has dust, fiber glass dust, AND ESPECIALLY mouse droppings!!! You don't want to get Hantavirus! Don't want you to get sick! These videos are great and I am a fan!
It thrills me to see you involving your son Silas in all this, and from newer videos your involvement with your family in the RV trip. I am a firm believer in that God is a rewarder of those who dilligently seek him. You have seen the gifts of God that has worked in your life to take your niche of flipping airplanes and coming out on top and it shows in your life. He has likewise taken me down the same road with unspeakable gifts at my age of 75. Keep going with God Jim and things will only get better.

I wouldn’t get rid of that bad boy - it’s a keeper! That plane is incredible! At first it seemed like it would have plenty of issues but it was keep it great condition. Can’t beat a twin engine !! Love it !

I would love to see a video of this one getting cleaned up👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
New subscriber.
Sure glad I found your channel, Jimmy!
Great stuff, thanks buddy...
My word, when that right engine fired up the first time, so darn cool. It even sounds like a beast too, I love that low growling, I'm a sucker for those deep and bassy sounding engines haha
The popping sound is just a misfire, probably from a bad plug or more likely an old wire arcing to the metal of the engine. I'd bet that the compression tests will be good. If you're planning on selling - I'd be interested as well
they still need to be torn down and looked at with out logs the engines are boat anchors
The popping you hear are the magnetos, (I don’t know the specific details, I’m not an A&P.)
Sounds like it leaned out and was getting hot.
@@Elios0000 Had you paid attention, you would have known that he had the logs.

*That's Amazingggg !! Great videos Jimmy*
My first job as working the ramp at a local small airport. I absolutely love the 310! Just beautiful with the wing tanks.
Interestingly enough, this plane has a story prior to it's hangaring! Back in mid-January of 82', this 310 was on a dusk approach to snowy Butler PA's rwy 36 when the left main landing gear, left wing and left prop struck an automobile driving on the perimeter road. There was significant damage to both plane and car, but no injuries in either. Plane landed safely.
FAA's findings were 1) dusk light conditions 2) mus-judged distance PIC and 3) misjudged altitude PIC.
Very happy to hear all walked away unharmed and this O-470 powered 310 gets to fly again in a new millennium!
you and your son are making some awesome memories!
Keep the spirit jimmy, your one in a million
Good work Jimmy i learn a lot with you !
"Money to noise converter" - you made my day!
Rip to the bonanza at the end. Wish i had the pics of when i pulled my hanger find 310 and 172 out. I saved a few and hope to see that 310 and azteck fly again
This is great. I love airplanes and love to see these old birds running again. Thanks for the video.
Wow, what a nice old girl she is, can't wait to see her fly. Man, 1975 I was around 6 years old flying around New Jersey in Piper Cherokee's and a twin Comanche with my dad back then up until the mid 80's, brings back memories. He would have loved your channel Jimmy. Another great video! 👍
The 310 is such a good looking aircraft.

Now that show you how high the quality of machine they build in those days and the feul to!
Amazing!
Jimmy, this one is the keeper!
One of the coolest twin engine aircraft ever built. This one has a damage history from a landing accident in Jan of '82. The left wing and gear hit a car prior to touchdown. Looks like they did a good job on the repairs. She's a great find...
I saw that too.
Loved flying the 310! Hope this one makes it back into the air were it belongs❣️ Thanks for letting us tag along Jimmy!!
Words don't describe how much I would love to find a barn find like this!
I love the videos and you saving aircraft...sure would love to see them fly especially the 310 as I loved Sky king as a kid...and that one has the tip tanks...
as a pilot, this is one of the most engaging vids I've ever seen. Not many have the balls to take the financial risks of buying unknowns. BUT if he can get it running good enough to get ferry permits he will quickly become a multi-millionaire (if not already one). As others have said, raising a kid this way bodes well for his future. Bravo Jimmy.
TV
as a pilot i find the total lack of understanding and respect for the aircraft disgusting.
Ive thought about doing this just for fun. Its really refreshing to see you with your son doing this together. I hope you were just joking about it making one trip. Im crazy but not that crazy. As a mechanic i know better. It would make one trip alright....straight to the funeral home. It will take tens of thousands to get them air worthy again and re certified. Hopefully the log books are still intact... save every last document. I wish you luck and keep us posted. Thanks for the entertainment.
Holy cow! I certainly didn't expect those engines to fire relatively effortlessly. Great videos, Jimmy! I'm binge watching to get caught up. Check your 6!
