Jimmy you would do great at stand-up comedy! My idea is all the Jimmy fans write jokes for you. You pick the best ones and do a 5 to 10 minute stand-up set for your fans!!!
@wstlndiesel Apparently, you'd be a good comedian too!
Rod Machado did it. How hard could it be?
Signed up long ago , waiting to buy a piece of Elvis’ jet 🛩 😉
WOT,
Wide open throttle.
That's how you start small motors.
As someone whose two cylinder vintage snowmobile rotax breaks all the time while riding, I’m not sure I could ever feel comfortable relying on one to keep me in the AIR
All it’s gotta do is get you up… You don’t need an engine to get you back down
It flies so slowly, your life with flash past you 7 times before you get down. Its so slow it can barely kill you.
@@Timberns Ha hahahahaha. Good one.
IDK, My ultralite back in the 1980's had a Cuyuna 430 and except for a bad coil once, it never gave me any trouble for many hundreds of hours flight time and up to 11,000 feet 😀
Your glide ratio is insane on these you could panic attack call for help tell your wife your going to heaven and still be glideing lol
Semi retired A&P, this has to be the first aircraft I've ever seen where the starting procedure looks like it could potentially induce structural damage.
To the pilot
@@jaydeeskinner9936 I'll take uhh.. All of the above.
I hope you will continue with the pup, would really like to see her fly.
Such a cute plane. I imagine it would fly really well too.
My 5 year old little girl was watching this with me and when you showed the old fuel she said daddy that’s bad gas. Just another moment that makes me proud to be a daddy
Your 5 year old daughter has more mechanical prowess than probably a lot of grown men today.
Yup. Even if daddy converts it to electric, he might still have bad gas.
Probably to late to comment if you leave an air cap between the spark plug and spark plug wire to where the spark will jump between will start a flooded engine
I would fly that in a heartbeat anytime 😀
Congrats Jimmy and crew on finally getting the PUP airplane starting and running. 5 out of 5.......
did you check the points
Awesome to see the little pup come to life. That is going to make someone a great little flyer!
or get 'em meeting thier maker real quick ..😂
A dead new pilot!
@@aflaz171 bah! Sell it to me!
It'll probably land at 30 mph.
Till the first stiff breeze comes along. Then it'll look like a wounded duck
Well done with the prayer application. Jesus loves the trust you showed!
its a simple snowmobile engine us northerners are very used to them. should been one of the easiest ones to get running. I would love to have that plane I've been wanting to get into flying when i was a kid my dad took my flying a lot in a Cessna 152. I've been pondering getting my sport license but these even better.
And now the video of you flying ALL of them! This has been a great series.
Finally. You said second but this is the last one we got to see. Thanks for saving these.
It's a little painful to see you spraying ether in a 2 stroke. There is no oil in that.
Here's the thing. They weren't using starting fluid (ether), they were using carburetor/choke cleaner. You can tell by the "pop pop pop" the spray was making as it came out of the can. Also, next time you go to an automotive parts place, grab a can of starting fluid and read the can. All starting fluids have a top end lubricant added in it.
I have seen GOD answer my prayers all the time when working on stuff. Good example of faith for your viewers.
Blessings
Me too. He gave man the wisdom to build them which means He basically created them so why not pray over them too 😁
Did I miss the part where the no spark was fixed? Unless I spaced out, it went from no spark being the issue to just give it some go go juice
My question exactly. Would love to know what was the failed part / failed connection. Adding fuel doesn't make spark. Would be great to know!
I thought it was the disconected wire they found.
@@godspeedracer but they showed no spark even after that.
@@comfort_in_discomfort yep I had to go back and watch it. You are right.
Lay hands on it JIMMY!!!
Are you EVER going to do an update video of whatever happened to all these planes we've been watching you buy the last few years?
I think Jimmy has sold quite a few of them to supplement the addiction.
It would be nice to have the US Flag displayed properly. Stars go top left! Thank you from a Marine
One of the greatest U-tub channels. Could not have a better person to stur up the interest on keeping the Old Birds Flying. Once there gone, there gone!
Fuel System on Rotax is ... difficult. 5 emergency off field landings with Rotax, 3 were Fuel System related. Most ultralight pilots in the area I'm from went to 12v electric pumps with a small motor cycle battery.
A Mikuni pressure operated diaphragm fuel pump operates at around 0.2-0.3 bar, certainly under 0.4 bar pressure. A pump and tubing in good condition will operate reliably and last for years but it has to be inspected and maintained especially now that alcohol has been added to the fuel which affects both the tubing and the seals inside the pump. An electrically operated mechanical fuel pump meant for a car engine operates at a considerably higher pressure that's at the top end, or above, what a Rotax 2-stroke engine is designed to work with and there's a serious danger that if left running permanently in flight it will flood the carburation system and either cause an engine failure or an engine fire from excess fuel exiting the carburettor overflows onto a hot exhaust. Fact. That's why Rotax's use diaphragm operated pumps. My first old AX3 ultralight was originally owned by a BMAA certified inspector and was the first in the UK to be fitted with an auxiliary electric fuel pump that was intended only for priming the system. It was placarded 'not to be used in flight except in case of an emergency' for that reason. Because it was just dead weight I removed it and replaced it with a hand primer bulb.
@@battz99 Dont run alcohol added petrol.
@@battz99 our snowmobiles run mikuni pulse pumps and work reliability for miles and miles on multi carbed 100+ hp machines. The key is nonox fuel. If you run oxygenated (ethanol) (alcohol) cut fuel you are going to have a lot of fuel system problems and maintenance.
@@oneninerniner3427 Accepted. Trouble is over here in Europe we now have no choice. Even 98 octane now has 5% alcohol and the lower grades 10%. Pilots have been saying that for us it's dangerous but we don't count and are being ignored. I had a low quality hand primer bulb in one of my aircraft that had rotted through after only about a year due to alcohol. Fortunately I found out on inspection before flying because it was leaking fuel at an increasing rate onto the cabin floor and could have given out completely in flight dumping the lot into the cabin.
@@battz99 good thing you caught it! 👍. Sorry to hear that you can't get nonox fuel. That sucks for sure.
You’ve got to have a spark from the sparkelator.
Awesome job guys! I trusted you would get them all running! Now fly them all please
Fantastic the little pup does start
I could watch you all day Jimmy! first off you really crack me up, secondly your content is so freak'n cool! Thanks for the videos and keep on bringing them 👍 Captain Ron, from sunny Arizona 🌵🌅
I’m building a Fisher Flying Products Super Koala. It’s very similar to the Pup, but it’s not part 103 ultralight, is made of mostly wood and fabric, and has side by side seating. It uses a 2 cylinder Hirth 2-stroke engine that puts out 65 hp.
Now, my question is are they back home yet? I sure hope so. You have too many irons in the fire there, Jimmy. Have you been home in the last four months? Also, that offer for the Eternabond tape for the RV is still open. I live in Ocala if you feel like a short hop in one of these beauties!
Love that little pup... Wish I had the money to get one
Great stuff Jimmy! Prayer works, Jesus is the greatest!
Washing machine charlie is in reference to a japanese pilot that would fly around at night with his twin engines intentionally out of sync to create a wobble sound in order to prevent US soldiers/marines from sleeping during the battle of guadalcanal.
Interesting, as I lived in Honiara Guadalcanal as a kid for two years starting 1968…Henderson field was closed at the time, due to an unexploded WW2 bomb and we landed at an old fighter strip next to Kookum beach and the golf club. The Japanese control tower was still there at Henderson Field btw. Hawker Sidley 748 Fiji Airways. Laurie NZ.
Thank You for explaining Washing Machine Charlie !!!! Thats Awesome and I can only imagine a very obnoxious sound!!! ...I would do it : )
Thanks! I needed that after a brutal week . You always make me smile
Thanks so much! Glad to help :)
I would have kept the Mighty Luscombe. Very sturdy aircraft.
Wow, changing the fuel system brought the spark back. MONKEY BUSINESS
Once you become familiar with a piece of equipment then you must trust your intuition when it comes to finding solutions to those 'tuff dog" problems...Congrats to you brother Jimmy
What Could Possibly Go Wrong? It'll Be Fine!!!!
It is very good to see your show again. 😊
AWESOMENESS!!!!
Ye gods Jimmy, you normally follow good practice, but you made damn hard work of that and that's what gives two strokes a bad name.
Well done!! Perseverance and a prayer can go a long way!
You need to consult Reverend Jimmy on the legality of the Pup. I haven't seen him in awhile.
Hello from Minnesota! Outstanding!!
Hello there!
We knew you would get the Pup running!
I'd love to have that plane, I have Kolb and this would be a great addition.
you guys swung for the fence and you hit a homerun Great job guy's 👍🏆👏👏👏
I saw a little piper backfiring and sputtering along, I immediately thought of Jimmy World.
its a snow mobile engine. so you gotta start it like a snowmobile! well done!
You forgot to take the dipstick out and anoint with the oil LOL 😆
Same engine I had on my Airbike. I flew it 800 miles in three days from Red Bluff Ca. To Phoenix Az a few years ago. Careful cleaning the oil off the pistons with that starter fluid.
Wasn't starting fluid. Had it been, the motor would've started and it'd be fine. Modern day starting fluid has added in top end lubricant.
Those mud dobbers will make you break the Part 103 rules. Your only supposed to have a single occupant lol
they add to the equation- when they feel the plane ready to take off, they line up on the wing and flap their wings really fast to help out- unless they come barreling out and sting the poop out of the guy pulling the rope first!
This is great!!! ...I have many snowmobiles with Rotax engines ...they can easily go 8000 miles and some many more ...the weak link is the Ducati cdi coil ... they only last about 15 years in harsh cold conditions : )
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but check the torque specs on that Ivo prop! Very easy to crush the hub.
I'll take it when you're done...
We say throw another Prawn on the Barby here in Australia. Love this stuff.
That little pup is gorgeous. A whole aircraft for less than 254 lbs.
Jimmy!!! You are sooooo Crazy and soooo friendly. We enjoy every week👍🏼🏆🥇♥️
Thanks so much
@@therealjimmysworld we follow You from Munich👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽
That Pup is more enjoyable to cruise around in than many of the barn find clunkers you have flown.
Loved that on the 7th Day Jesus said YES...
Too funny, this was a great video as well, enjoyed every minute of it, I have prayed over stuff that I thought was hopeless only to find the problem the next day or a solution to the problem as well, I figure it never hurts to ask, lol.
Great video great job great it runs thanks Jimmy and jesse
I think this pup is a beautiful plane and only needs a electric start on it ... sweet ...😊
Part 103 is the best thing since sliced bread. Clear Prop!
It is a damned good thing that the Pup did not start on either cuz Jimmy would have gaulded the bearings. The Pup just needs new fuel lines, the fuel tank cleaned, a new fuel pump and the carb cleaned and to be run on ethanol free fuel. I would use the same oil for the mix as my vintage sleds.
All starting fluid sold these days have a top end lubricant added in. Check out a can when you need to go parts shopping. Besides, they weren't using starting fluid anyway. It was carb/choke cleaner. That stuff pops as it comes out of the can, on some brands.
@@F5Tornado44 You should not have commented because all you did was show others how little you know. With two strokes it is the bottom end that needs the lube so that the bushings or bearings and crank cases seals do not go out.
@@hartstudebakerkid Tell me Mr. Wizard, do you think lubricant knows where to go once it enters the engine? Perhaps you should take a little of your own advice.
@@F5Tornado44 Yes because that is a piston port engine just like three of the four snowmobiles I have or even three of my chainsaws that date back to the 1930s. So you keep yapping so the rest can laugh at you.
'Anyone can work on it ' lol. Can and should are very different things.
and if my experience with snow mobiles is any indication of how reliable this thing is...I wouldn't go any further than gliding distance from the airfield lol
Another great video Jimmy. The original owner must have tried to keep these flyers going the best he could. Would love to fly one of these Pups.
It started with the Mustie1 way!! Fuel directly in to the engine!! Thanks for sharing
Way to go you two.
LOL @18:45 Jimmy going Pentecostal on us!
Good job!! Congratulations.
Holy crap!!!! I love the mini cub!!!
You are so lucky to find them old birds and get them running again 👍
Wow I’d really love to buy her! Gotta love ultralights
Yeahhh buddy, gotta love it when jimmy uploads a video. Much love you champion. 🤙🇦🇺
So glad you did not get the 2 stroke running on starting fluid...all you were accomplishing is cleaning all the oil off the bearings and cylinder walls.
Loved the video Jimmy and the positive, kind attitude thanks
Hey Jimmy I really love the Cub Pup keep it up I enjoy your videos your a amazing person ...
I can just hear Sammy Hagar singing...I can't fly 55! Well Sammy, in that Pup, that's all you're going to fly at.
I put 500hrs on mine years ago. But it had the 40hp 1/2 VW 4stroke. Best fun out there tou can have at 65mph. I did t fly mine under part 103. So i had extra gas 9g total.
I use a Rotax engine in my hovercraft. It has only failed once, but fortunately, it didn't happen at the "wrong" time. Jimmy, can you fly at 9-12 inches of altitude? 😊
Over the right terrain... Yes he can! 😊
The pup is awesome
Well done! The Pup engine looks like a 503 Rotax. Can't wait to see it flying!
He didn't buy it.
I am 78 and an experienced fabricator and mechanic !! Send the PUP to me here in Iowa so that I can die happy!! I have advanced plans for an engine swap.
I would love to have that pup!!!!!
I'll just be damned, Scooter said it couldn't be fixed
Just an FYI guys, carburetor choke cleaner is really not that flammable. Brake cleaner is more flammable, but your best bet is starting fluid (ether). Nowadays, the starting fluid has top end lubrication added in, unlike brake cleaner, so it's much safer for the pistons and cylinders. Anyhow, congrats on getting them all running.
That thing is awesome. I want it! Faster than my paramotor and warmer in the winter!
Hallelujah
Try removing the black wire from the spark plug caps, I have had problems with those before. I had bought a 450 honda motorcycle for $65.00 and that's what was wrong with it, the spark wasn't going through the plug cap so could be wore out inside where the plug wire meets the plug cap
That is such a sweet Pub!
I want your little Ultralite pup!! Only two problems.. First, I am not a pilot (unless RC counts), second I can't afford the airplane or the lessons.. Ahh well, that's why I watch you guys. I have my RC planes for flying...
I use to be into all that airplane stuff, I worked for a guy in Texas, we painted lots of mooneys, Cessna, bechcraft, grummans, rvs, homemades, even twin engines as big as a king air, even refurbished a red barron and a Stinson bi plane.
Very cool Jimmy! Very cool! Congrats!
Watching this it's so easy to second guess them. They're forgetting that this is a 2-cycle engine. Keep spraying starting fluid in it, washing any possible lubrication out of the cylinders and it'll bite you in the end. Try mixing fuel and oil and then trying to spray that in the intake.
They weren't using starting fluid. They were using carburetor/choke cleaner. You can tell by the "pop pop pop" the spray was making as it came out of the can. The next time you go to an automotive parts supplier, grab a can of starting fluid and check out the can. All starting fluids nowadays have a top end lubricant added in.
Awesome video! But am I the only one who felt that Jimmy was not "clear of the prop" enough?
Glad you got it running! Having said that, it's really not a great idea to use ether on a 2 stroke engine -- the oil in the fuel mix is necessary to lube the top end and rings.
good gawd Jimmy, pour fuel down the plug holes, and Pull!!
Love the pup! Also i doubt it makes part 103 weight. Sweet little plane tho
Hey Jimmy just wanted to pop down to the comments to recommend that you buy one of those ultra lights that practically take off without any runway
If you fill the float bowl on that Mikuni carb, 1 pull with the choke pulled and get a buck , choke off one more pull and it will fire and run !!
Never stand next to a prop, while firing an engine up. Stand off to the rear whenever possible, or off to the front, a good distance ahead, in case of catastrophic prop failure.
I'd have kept the Luscombe. So cool!
I have two snowmobiles with engines based of that block, a rotax 440 and 500. The 500 has over 10,000 miles on it with only carb boots, which in the aircraft engine version they eliminated. Other than being stubborn to start because it’s a piston port vs reed valve motor it’s dead reliable. A primer plunger takes care of the low draw of the piston port and it’s fairly civilized to start.
Oh my gosh! fix the fuel lines! especially the line from the crankcase to the fuel pump. if that line is bad that cylinder will run lean and cause the piston to be scored. use high quality line from a snowmachine. cheap line hardens and will cause no end of problems. replace the primer and fuel pump, use the right clamps for the lines! take the carb off and clean the float bowl! with the right parts and properly installed that is a very good engine. i would fly that thing in a heart beat ( after i made sure it had proper maintenance)! dont ever use starting fluid, theres no oil in it and it will not fix anything. i been riding snowmachines for 50 years plus ( i live in Alaska) i know what im talking about.
Engine starts but noone suicidal enough to fly it, nice!
How many of those planes were air worthy. I’d love to have the pup in central missouri
Starting fluid is not a good idea on two strokes. You had pre-mix right there, that is what you should have been using.
