    I would definitely ops check that gear like 20-25 times with no failures cause the nose gear is moving against the airstream when you lower it. Hate to see it collapse on landing destroying the prop and overhauled engine.
    Maybe leave the gear down for the first flight or two while your testing everything else out.

    Great video. Check the clocking of the prop. On a four-cylinder engine the power stroke should start when the prop is horizontal. Check out the four-cylinder planes on the ramp. Most of them will have the prop stop in the same orientation. This is subtle and easy to miss, but it will reduce vibration and help performance.

    • @evelyncaldera2420
      @evelyncaldera2420 Před 2 lety +1

      I would check the appropriate maintenance manuals on the proper propeller orientation. As I recall, the prop blades should be at 10 and 4 o'clock, but it's been awhile and I could be mistaken.

    Can't wait for the test flight! I know what you're going through. I took my engine out to overhaul (PA28-140) a year ago and just got all the parts back (but still have to assemble it!). I also opted for a RAM 160 conversion and a Powerflow exhaust. Between the different hardware involved in the conversions and the time that has gone by, I'm sure I'll run into numerous issues like you have. Naturally while the engine has been out, I've gotten involved in other projects like the Cherokee corrosion AD and prepping the firewall forward which also amounted to re-wiring all engine related stuff. Like you, every step of the way, I've run into road blocks. I did take pics of everything I could think of as I was removing the engine, but I know it'll still be a hassle.
    Your channel is one of my favorites because I can relate to your problems. I'm an A&P, but that doesn't mean I'm any more savvy than you!
    Good luck with everything and would love to see the 310 fly again! I got my multi in a similar old 310 and remember it as being a "tiger by the tail".

      @@andref6956 I can’t say for 100 percent sure whether making one yourself is actually allowed. Because it’s a part of a certified aircraft, I’d lean towards it requiring to be replaced by an actual aerospace grade part.
      If someone was to take an existing bolt and modify it to work, luck would have to be against you big time for an inspector to find it and see it as not approved.
      Those restrictions don’t exist for experimental aircraft.

    that plate at 12:12 making space for the accessory looks screwed on from the cockpit side (nutplates visible) this might indicate that the accessory is accessible from the cabin side without taking off the engine may be?

      @@bradmarcum2927If you're cobbling up parts to keep your own old bird in the air, drill away, and hope that none of your repairs go wrong. If you're selling it, then it's cheap protection from lawsuits should something go wrong. I'm sure this is a flipper.
