Hi Jimmy, Love your videos! You should check out the national museum of the United States Airforce in Dayton, Ohio. You would absolutely love it!! Keep up the great work and awesome videos!
Hi Jimmy, thank you for showing the B-52 580183. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to crew that exact Bomber. She was stationed at Castle AFB. I was assigned to that bomber as a Crew Chief during the late 80’s and early to mid 90’s.
Awesome!!!
I can’t wait for the J model with the new engines. Love that plane.
I guess that is a g model like we had at Wurtsmith afb . we were 2nd operational alcm base in sac jan of 83 379 th sps .
My great great uncle flew one
Thats super cool. I was in the usaf from 87-91, got out just after desert storm. I was stationed at raf alconbury, uk, (A10a), and then hill AFB, ut, (F16c), i was 462x0, aircraft armament systems specialist, but u knew us as "weapons troops". I was glad i didnt have the experience to work on the buffs, but i worked with some that had and heard all the horor stories from Guam. The A10a was by far my fav, and i started flying RC back in those days, and still do, and coincidentally just bought an A10 rc electric ducted fan, (technology has come so far), as a tribute to my warthog days. Its in the pope AFB grey color scheme and tail markings as i couldnt find a woodland green one like we flew in USAFE. I have a few videos on my channel, but hit me up fellow airman, if ya wanna connect. I partied with a lot of crew chiefs back in the day.
Continued prayers for Val Kilmer.
Arizona Iceman is awesome! He and Jerome hung out with my 4 year old son at Sun n Fun this year and it was the highlight of his trip to meet the guys from "Jet Movie".
Fun fact, "Iceman" gets his hair to look like that by flying the F-14 with the canopy open after a shower.
All the planes and Ice Man was great. Congrats on the marriage ...your wife is adorable and reflects light nicely ;)
Only Jimmy could keep our attention and be funny and interesting for 45 minutes. Great video and Merry Christmas!
The mini jet for 007 was all filmed at Northolt, UK the oldest active airbase in blighty.
I got to watch it all going on and wow was it fast.
My wife's uncle Lt.Col. Donald White flew a B26 Marauder in WW2,then later flew a Jetstar out of Andrews in the LBJ administration. He often flew VP Humphrey to the LPJ ranch in Texas.I had the honor of sitting in the Jetstar cockpit on base directly accross from the cordoned off AF1. Watching your video brought back many memories. Have you every been to Wright-Pat in Dayton? If not you have to check it out.
It's been a while since I've been to Pima. I sure miss working on the Tomcat in the 80s. They used our squadron, VF-51 to provide the aircraft for the movie Top Gun. We had to paint our planes up as other squadrons and many of us were used as an extra in the movie. I have to say, Val was pretty cool to talk to. Nice guy.
Outstanding!
I actually flew F-14s in that squadron (VF-111 Sundowners) from 1980-1983. Now that I’m over 65 I meet up with one of my F-14 buddies at this year’s Sun-n-Fun. We saw the Maverick and Ice Man characters near their freshly painted F-14 getting photographed by all sorts of folks. My buddy and I had to chuckle a bit as here were two real X F-14 drivers vs two pretend kids. Funny nobody wanted our pictures.
Meet us at Sun N Fun in April Maverick and I want pictures with you!
37:10 Best jet there, the BAC Lightning and you walked past it. Intercepted and flew alongside a U2, and caught up with Concorde when Supersonic.
Agreed!
Jimmy- you missed the Vampire as well as the Lightning! You must go back a second visit and put that right! Love your vids- great stuff!
Jimmy. I was a mechanic on a TB-58 Hustler right out of tech school ( 5615 OMS) at the age of 19 at Edwards AFB in 1964-1966. Those J-79's where called converters because they changed fuel into sound. They consumed fuel at take off at the rate of 47,000 lbs each per hour times 4 in full afterburner. The TB-58 always flew with the belly fuel tank and was chase for the XB-70. The best days of my life in the USAF.
I think Jimmy needs to check out the history of America's first supersonic bomber.
I grew up near Grissom AFB and have always loved those birds and their complicated history. Thank you for your service!
First and only time I was at Pima was as a kid. Was probably 8 or so, and I was born in 1983. I remember I got a water jet rocket from the gift shop where you fill it with water and pump it up and slide a little lock back and the rocket takes off about 40 feet up until the water is gone. I also got a bumper sticker and it was on the door to my room at my mom's house forever, even long after I moved.
I don't remember anything else about the place, and I have always wanted to go again.
Pima was the first place I’d ever seen an SR-71, back in 2021. I’ve always loved researching military aircraft especially the Blackbird, but that trip sparked my interest in aviation. I started on my PPL in July of this year, and I’m hoping to go commercial eventually!
I have been there a couple time when I had work nearby.... they have do e loots of improvements and for sure looks worth another trip... how fun to to see the Arizona Iceman. Great episode!!
I can always get my aviation fix watching your cool videos. Many years ago I worked for the prison system in Indiana. One Saturday or Sunday I was working a tower on the north side of the prison. Then active Grissom AFB was about 50 or 60 miles north and it was a very clear day. For about an hour I watched several A10 Warthogs doing maneuvers through binoculars. A couple times they flew over the prison on approach into the base and the sound they make is like no other. Certain sounds made by aircraft I’m sure psych out the enemy knowing the crap was going to get crazy. Great channel Jimmy. Phenom pilot fan from Colorado
So back in high school (90s) one of my math teachers (he was a genius) Mr. Klessel, yeah he was an SR-71 pilot, retired. He was maybe 5'4", solid as a rock, had the fastest comebacks of anyone I knew back then.. probably one of the smartest men I've ever met even today.. what a great man, humble and cool.. he had some amazing stories.. what a neat job and to have graced hundreds (maybe thousands but I come from a VERY small town) of kids with his knowledge.. Had him for algebra then trig.. yeah he knew his numbers and he made us all learn how to use a slide rule even though calculators were a thing.. yeah man he was cool as Hell.
They have a B-36! Its where the saying " 6 turning 4 burning" comes from. That's my 3rd favorite Bomber next to the YB-49, and the B-2!
My nephew is a Navy officer he brought me to the actual top gun bar on base. Sweet. No phones on the bar, no cover on the bar. Fun night
Pima air museum is one of the good things in Tucson
I love you CZcams videos. I’m a retired aircraft mechanic I used to work on jetstars. I reskinned the inlets on Kenny Rogers Jetstar years ago. Also replaced the D-rings. I was mainly sheet metal, main aircraft I worked on was Astras and Westwinds.
Keep the videos coming 🤗
What a great place, Love the Iceman dude, fun addition.
Jimmy, get your flight suit and patches and you can join the guys and be "Florida Goose!"
I am actually going there for the first time in 4 days. So glad this video released today since I really did not know what to expect, but now I am way to excited.
Well worth seeing!
It is great! I go there a couple times a year. You picked a good time to go, as during the summer you don't want to be outside as much and they have a ton of great stuff outside (B-52s, SuperGuppy, B-36, etc. ) Last time I was there they had a ton of Harriers outside, and they keep growing their Mig / SU collection as well.
Very cool seeing all the old planes. I never tire of seeing them. And Iceman was very realistic. Merry Christmas Jimmy!
I was in the Marine Corps in 1982, I was a mechanic (engines and fuel systems) on the F/A 18 Hornet stationed in Eltoro California!
Spent 3 years on Nimitz 94-97 and got to see the tomcat squadrons up close. Nothing like walking thru the hangar bay as the sun was coming up and tomacat's all around. Just awesome to watch flight operations up close. Miss the tomcat.
One of the aircraft used in the movie is on the USS Lexington in Corpus.
The Ice man was so awesome Jimmy thank you
So I went to San Diego in 2022 and the convention I was with had a party on the midway. Met California Tom Cruise and he was amazing. Also went to the bar they shot the piano scene and had lunch. Didn't play the piano but saw the whole history of it. Was awesome.
just awesome thanks for that tour jimmy .. big thumbs up
In CAP, I met lot's of great and famous aviators when we worked the World Aerobatic Championships at Grayson County Airport (KGYI now North Texas Regional). This was in the early to mid 70s. I met Jim Bede and got to sit in his jet.
That dude (Arizona Iceman) looked just like Val Kilmer of the 80s.
Merry Christmas to all your family and and yourself
This whole tour was VERY cool! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the videos Enjoyed the videos from the museum in Oregon.
I read somewhere that the hughies used in Porklips Now belonged to the Philippines Air Force. Cheers and Merry Christmas from Downunder.👍🇦🇺🇺🇸
Great walk around JW, thanks for the tour. :)
Thank you for the video Jimmy.
Merry Christmas from Minnesota!! I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas!!
Love this channel! God bless you and your family .Merry Christmas!!
You need to check out the CAF museum in Mesa, Arizona. I met Ice Man there
I knew I needed this in my life, been there twice and it was the bucket list museum of my dreams, but Jimmy reviewing it is awesome, lol!
Jimmy ... I really enjoy your channel. I feel an attachment to your 310 because I grew up in the "Sky King" television program era. You may already have visited the Kalamazoo, Michigan Aviation Museum but if you haven't, it has an SR-71B and an F-117 as well as a nice inventory of classic aircraft. As a matter of fact, the restoration arm of the museum has developed a superb reputation having restored several naval aircraft recovered from Lake Michigan. They were lost during World War Two carrier training. Stay safe and God Bless!
nice, if you ever see a P-40 my grandpa helped rebuild all 4 of the flying ones, he mostly fabricated the one that was transferred to Hawaii and sourced all the parts. crazy old guy into building top fuel drag cars, old school roadsters, motorcycles. remember going to CA as a kid inside his hangar with the ribs of a P-40 with the only jig left in the world to even work on the frame which he had to rebuild from scratch. Man i need to go visit him soon.
I've been to the Pima air museum 3 times!!! It is the most amazing museum in the United States!!!
Thank you I have only been to the Hill afb museum Loved it. My Father was a engineer at Hill in the late 90's F-16 computer. I was able to take my Sons up there for a Second visit with my Father after he retired what a joy to Share with my sons and father this experience. thank you for sharing yours. He was all so a NASA engineer.
Loved the video Jimmy. You showed a lot of planes and stuff for many of us that will never be able to go visit. Thanks again
I went there in about 1998-1999, I remember the Blackbird was just under a harbor freight like pop up car port. They've really spruced up the place!!
love the A-4 skyhawk at the beginning.
Awesome place to visit. I'd be sad though to walk around the ones that didn't make it inside one of the hangars. Thanks for all the tours you've done this year JW.
The CH-54 helicopter you walk under to enter the PASM is “554”. I was working the tower at Henry Post AAF, Ft. Sill, OK and cleared this aircraft for takeoff (as a flight of 3 CH-54s) for their flight to Pennsylvania as they were being transferred from regular Army service to National Guard. Circa 1980. Many years since I have visited PASM, need to get back and see all the improvements and the snack shack used to have the best chili dog around. Thanks Jimmy for the video.
I love that place! I wish they had tours at AMARG boneyard next door still. I painted the water tower at the boneyard when it was new in 1987 and it made for great viewing.
I saw the Iceman and maverick combo at an air show in dalhart tx
Cool video. Bummed about the 500. Keep the up the fantastic work ! Merry Christmas to all !
The Pima Air Museum is a great air museum. I have been there about 6 times over the last 2+ decades and every time it just gets better and better.
That is Awesome Jimmy I wish I had known you were in Arizona I would have come down to meet you🤠🤠🤠
Awesome tour! Was there 20 years ago but it's much better now. Glad to see the SR71 was brought indoors.
That museum is crazy! I wish i could live close to it so id go there every year
Would love to see you do one at March Field Museum in Riverside. I used to go as a kid. It's my home town one, but I have not been there in probably 25-30 years. It has grown so much! I am 20 minutes away and need to go. Palm Springs, where you did the P51 at is one I want to go to as well.
The Pima Air Museum has grown since I was there with my buddy who’s brother was the Air Boss for the Davis-Moth-an air field. For any pilot it is an absolute must see!
Great content and I've been to the pima air and space museum back in 2003 and a lot has change since then
I lived in Tucson for many years. I went to the Pima Air Museum often. I miss going there, Love that place.
That was awesome Jimmy and family. We don’t have these types of museums over in Australia like you guys do.
One of the best tours without actually being there. Thanks Jimmy and wife. Very cool.
Only good on you and your family. Merry Cristmas.
Did my instrument training and check ride in Tucson, afterwards as a treat I went to the museum. Circa 1996. Was pretty cool then but now is insanely cool! Thanks for the tour Jimmy!
I was thinking of Val kilmer, the Top Gun cast that played as Iceman
Merry Christmas Jimmy, to you and your awesome family. I was in Boeing flight test in the 70's & 80's and there are three aircraft at the museum that I flew on (flight test engineering, not as pilot). One aircraft there, the YC-14, was probably the best STOL cargo airplane ever developed was a real hoot during flight test - on a test flight our F-86 chase plane couldn't keep up with our vertical ascent.
Living here in Tucson allows me to visit the museum and it is amazing - every time.
Merry Christmas to you!
That facility is quite a gem. I live in Phoenix and make it down to Tucson to visit Pima a couple times a year since they are always getting new stuff. Great place.
I love that place, I was there a little over 2 years ago. Spent five hours going around looking at all the planes and still never seen everything. I most definitely wanna go back in walk through it again.
Worked A-10's for 5 years. Used to pull and install the GAU-8A.
Mate this is a fantastic video thank you 👍
Worked across the street from Lakeland airport got to watch sun and fun from the yard was great
A bucket list place for me!
Go take a trip to the Air Force Museum in Dayton OHIO. Plan on spending at least 2 days in the museum.
Love your channel Jimmy
Love that place I really liked the martin seaplane.... I got to go with my Dad and he was the one that got me flying.
Great video Jimmy!!
Merry Christmas from Haines city
Uh1 aerial artillery awesome thanks Jimmy great video
Hey that's next to my company's yard and the bone yard is up the street been to both, the museum is awesome
Hey Jimmy, I helped paint the prototype Enforcer before Piper bought the rights to it. It was at Cavalier Aviation at the Sarasota Bradenton Airport in the mid 70s Cavalier was owned by David Lindsey original owner of Sarasota Herald Tribune. Cavalier built 2 place P-51s as fighter trainers for the Indonesian Airforce and they designed the Enforcer to try and sell to the US Airforce. My grandfather worked for Cavalier as a mechanic/ inspector. Just a little Aviation history for you.
There is a 2nd Connie that is airworthy in Kansas city at the twa museum. It is currently out of annual and one engine needs a rebuild. It was flying not long ago, a friend of mine helped with the rebuild.
Heck yea have him in the cockpit of the elvis jet like yalls taking off for the first drive that would be so cool 😁
I love the Pima Air & Space Museum! My Aunt and Uncle live just down the road from it. We go there every time we are there visiting.
Jimmy, if you want big body military jets, there is NO OTHER museum for you than the Strategic Air Command Museum in Ashland Nebraska... they have a HUGE array of the US's bombers the US flew from WWII on, including the B-36, B-52, B-17, B-58, and many more. You should check it out!
The B-36 Peacemaker is awesome!
Keep being pure Jimmy, you're the genuine flying philanthropist!
Ice....man ☃️
Hey Jimmy what a fantastic tour!!!! You are the man!!! Fantastic, amazing! Oh boy, i love planes.
WHAT a difference from my last visit in 1984. Thank you , Jimmy.
you need to check out the Udvar Hazy air and space museum in virginia. hundreds of planes on display including the Enola Gay
great video jimmy. nice to see all those planes. im in SC and they dont have the airshows here in the upsate anymore
JImmy, In 1965 I flew to Viet Nam on the C124 Globemaster from S.Carolina to the Phiippeans then on a different plane into Saigon. On the way to California the #3 engine blew and oil cooler and we had to land at an AFB in Arizona and get that fixed. Then on the CA for overnight and refuel. One hour out of CA the #1 engine froze up and had to return to get that replaced. Then to Hawaii, Wake Island, Guam and into Clark AFB near Manilla. From there to Viet Nam on a different airplane. Vey long, cold and noisy trip sleeping on cargo or sitting on web seats against a cold bulkhead. Wish you were there 😱
Nice video, Jimmy! I've been tp PAM twice, spending about 3 hours there each time. I was only able to see about 10% of the place. It would take a golf cart and 5 more days to see it all. Fabulous place to visit, for sure; I highly recommend it. The curator at one of the sections asked me where I was from (Oshkosh), and we became instant friends... LOL. Go EAA!🛩
I love Iceman's do.
I live 10 minutes away from here, great museum!
Jimmy, the rudders on the Ercoupe do move in as well as out, Next time you are in the Phx area, I will take you up in my Ercoupe and show you what it can do.
WOW he looks just like iceman very cool !!!
