  • Hello folks! Today I will show you a new restoration project! It's curved soldier's dagger Bebut of the 1907 model, it is also called the artillery Bebut or the curved Caucasian dagger. This particular issue is 1916 or 1917 - the last digit is damaged. The subject is certainly well-known, and I will try to get as close as possible to the original appearance of this Caucasian dagger. Moreover, I really like bebuts! Let's start the restoration!
First - I put the dagger in a rust remover, then washed and dried. To polish the blade, I used sandpaper from 120 to 1200 grit, and then polished it on a felt circle.
As for the accessories. I mean scabbard fittings and handle brass parts. Here I collected the parts separately, it took 5 weeks. As a result, I received all the details, including the details of the handle and scabbard together.
I made the handle of the dagger from beech wood, the size was as close as possible to the original, the rivets and the clip are original. In the end, it was painted in a dark color and aged, as when they were approved in this form in 1907.
The scabbard of the bebut I made of wood, and covered with black leather. All the accessories of the scabbard are also original. I also added missing brass elements to the fittings. A small suspension on the tips of the scabbard and two brass screws for the upper part of the scabbard.
In addition, it is more rare nowadays to find an original suspension. It remained only in museums and if you meet it on sale, but for an expensive price. I made it myself from genuine leather special suspension. With this leather suspension, you can wear a bebut on your belt. I hope you liked the restoration of this curved dagger of bebut.
As always, I conducted an interesting and funny test for you! Thank you for your attention, success and health to the audience!
    Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

you can look at three things forever: how water flows, how money is given to you, and how another person works.

The Tsar army. According to the relation of my grandmother, the brother of my grand-grandfather, named Jan spent 26 years in this army. And I had a problem because the period of military service in Russia at this time took 21 years. So, what happened? And then I read a book about the XIX century in Russia, and at those time the hiking from Central Europe to Syberia (and back) took 3 years. So, I found the answer. By the way: My grandfather was a war prisoner in Soviet Russia in the prison in Kazan in 1920 and escaped. His back journey took "only" one month!

If that's a dagger than swords from your country must be hundreds of centimeters long...really great work...let's get some likes for all the hand sanding this man does...if you've ever hand sanded anything before than you know!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I must admit this was done well and functional in the sense of time period. The outfit at the end is very fitting of a skilled restoration expert. Well done Alex. We have witnessed a master of his craft. Wishes for the new year to bring good things. Stay safe and keep up the great work on history blades.

With food prices on the rise, I hope you made a salad out of all that "test material" at the end :)

    Truly a work of art

Love your videos about curved blades. I would love to see you restore a sabre with a swept hilt. It would be amazing to watch you work. 😄
