Restoration Rusty QUADDARA - MIDDLE EAST Sword

- Hello folks! Today I'm restoring the quaddara! I finally found this item. It is extremely rare, not often found. This Persian sword was widely distributed in the 19th century on the territory of the Persia, Ottoman Empire, Southern Transcaucasia. The hilt of this blade is like a Caucasian dagger. Well, let's start the restoration!
First of all, I started cleaning rust and dirt from the blade with a rust remover, and then with sand.
After cleaning the blade, I found the stamp "gurda". This stamp has a long history and can often be found on different blades, on the curves of the dagger and just Caucasian daggers. (You will find more information on the Internet on the topic "gurda stamp").
The grinding of the blade was done manually. I used sandpaper from 60-600 grit. The contours of the blade I sanded the slot with a machine and drilled an additional hole for the rivet in the middle of the future handle. For the handle of the blade, I used black hornbeam wood. It looks like a buffalo horn.
The rivets were turned out of steel with a diameter of 16 mm on a metal lathe. I changed them and added decor. I made the rivet for the middle of the handle in the shape of a heart. On the back of the handle, a small crystal was added to the recess. I used brass fittings for the handle and scabbard.
I made the scabbard out of beech wood (so that the scabbard was stronger) because the blade is massive. I used dark green leather. I made the accessories and the suspension for the scabbard out of brass.
And as usual, I conducted a blade test. I hope you enjoy this quaddara restoration.

Я вот только не понял о какой ошибке ты говорил, - то ли просверлил не там, то ли дерево для рукоятки очень твёрдое оказалось? Если просверлил не там, то, зачастую, замысел мастера неведом для стороннего наблюдателя, а если рукоятка... То это полная фигня! - В наших краях ничего крепче берёзы не растёт, а тут мне бук попался для рукоятки. Ну я, с дуру, и решил, что ножом и наждачкой всё сделаю... Ага, наивный Чукотский юноша, - только ножовка по металлу и наждак меня спасли! - Впервые настолько твёрдое дерево видел! Но красиво, чёрт возьми!!!
А станки шестидесятых годов... Так у нас на предприятии их до сих пор большинство стоит и работает! Им главное уход хороший нужен. А так они вечные, - их же наши отцы и деды делали!
Привет! Я вот чему удивился так это грабу, вроде работал с ним, да крепкий, вязкий чутка, а тут бруски были сухие и как же долго я из обрабатывал. Чего скрывать весь процесс работы занял полтора месяца... Вот. Да я про ошибку с ножнами... пришлось заново лепить. А станки и тески да вечные для пользования. А нынче для не знаю чего . Удачи! That was one of your best jobs so far, it helped that the metal wasn’t so badly rusted.
I was excited to see you try precutting the sheath halves before gluing them together but at the same time apprehensive that the change in your workflow would cause problems. No more so than often happens anyway as it turned out so I am relieved. Watching your channel has become a strange mix of ASMR and an emotional rollercoaster. 😅
I am also excited to hear that you will get into forging. Many of the pieces you have done in the past could have benefited from having patches forge welded in and forged fittings are beautiful. But what I really want to see is you make your own designs. With all the blades that have passed through your hands, I cannot believe that your artistic side has not thought of improvements and blends of existing designs. Just another personal limit to conquer, and we are here to support you.

Под него были сделаны ножны, очень похоже на ваше исполнение.

Sometimes the hardest thing anyone can do is admit they've made errors, mistakes or had accidents. So it's really refreshing to see a video where such mistakes aren't edited out. After all, a lot can be learned from such things: where things may have gone wrong to start with, and how to rectify things once they've happened.
What made this even better was seeing a new sheath/scabbard being made for the restored weapon. You don't realise just how much work is involved: woodwork, leatherwork, and metalworking with brass. You have to wonder if the swordmaker of old had to have mastery of all these skills, or whether he employed the services of other craftsmen in the place to complete the job!

Это дешёвое средство для удаления ржавчины. Бутылка ярко желтого цвета, называется Yeetis. Есть бутылки объемом 550 мл. И 2 литра. Чаще всего продается это средство в хоз. товаров.@@user-kd5vi8xu5t
