Restoration of Rusty KNIFE - Made From an old DAGGER

- Hello folk! Today I have a new restoration that you haven't seen so far. A knife made from an ancient Caucasian dagger. Could you think of such a thing? I'm not, I accidentally got this object in my hands and of course I didn't let it go. I'm starting to restore!
So, a knife made from a dagger. This can be seen by the deeds that are characteristic of the dagger, as well as by the handle and by the holes. Fortunately, many daggers of different types have passed through my hands. First, I cleaned the surface of the knife from rust and dirt with a sandblaster.
Next, I adjusted the cutting edge and the back of the knife and moved on to polishing the blade. For sanding, I used sandpaper from 80-240 grit, and then manually from 360 to 1000 along with polishing paste. I did not remove all the pits and corrosion that remained after rust because the blade is already thin.
Due to the fact that the knife is made of a Caucasian dagger, I want to add ornaments in the Georgian style. This will be relevant, and it will also hide under iron oxide.
Surprise! It just can't be. Inside the valleys is twisted Damascus! It's just very cool. I.e. after etching in acid, all the beauty seemed. Great, in this case, we do everything in the Caucasian style. Hilt and scabbard.
For the handle, I chose beech, the type of handle is checkers. The scabbard is made of linden, also in the Caucasian style. After gluing and processing the scabbard, I glued and stitched them with natural thin leather and leather straps for wearing on the belt.
And yes, as usual, I made an interesting test for you. Please, don't forget to share this video! Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

Now it is a Caucasian knife! A very nice job giving the blade some of it's original design.
As always, I love watching you revive a classic from your country. But, I gotta say, that sheath/scabbard! It had it all….the compound wood, the carving, the leather, the stitching, buckles, exposed and beaten pins…..so much awesome…..you’re brilliant
Good afternoon! Thank you for your attention and kind words. Thank you for staying with me and watching my videos.

Before I found your channel, I was ignorant of the proud heritage of that area. I am truly impressed by your skill in both woodworking and metalworking.
I can forge most any blade I want and make my own ‘damascus.’ I have to say that’s a beautiful pattern on that old blade and the decorative etching you did is super nice! I’ve made a few wood core scabbards but your leather coverings are far better than anything I can do! Well done, sir! I’ll have to try your methods next time.
Greetings! Thank you so much for your attention. I wish you success in your business. I am glad if my content will be useful for you.
I watch your show to help me sleep, so calming
Wow! Thank you! ^_^
What a joy to watch 👏 👏 👏 👏
I loved the etching! Damascus is a very sough after blade. No wonder they converted it into a knife! I am still grateful for your scabard craftsmanship!
A NICE GUY, AND A AWESOME VIDEO!!!

I enjoyed seeing your comment about not wasting anything. I myself am the same. Being born from a poverty family. I have learned to save every last scrap. That could be usable in one way or another. Be it scrap firewood for tender or for building something a scrap piece of paper or a scrap piece of denim. It can all be used.
Thanks for understanding, is everything can be used, the main thing is to know how to do it correctly. Good luck!
Alex!, You have outdone Yourself once again! From the etching on the blade to the traditional handle, and the sheath is superb! You never cease to impress and amaze me! As always the very best to You and Yours from Brian in Southern California
Greetings to Baryan! Thank you for your attention and for staying with me. Good luck to you

Such a fantastic video with so many good things. You're surprised at the finding of the Damascus was wonderful, the straps on the scabbard looked so professional while still feeling rustic. And what made me smile the most was you talking at the end of the video. I absolutely loved it all! Beep beep!

I like that you showed the mistake and how you had to start over again and got it right.
Thank you for your attention and understanding. Yes, I always try to show my mistakes so that the viewer sees the whole picture and the whole process.

Thank you!
Everything looks better in damascus. 🤩
An interesting Repurposing...Thanks
Muy buen video tovarich
Amazing!
Wonderful blade ,handle and scabbard . Mine would be in a nice plastic bag with some pretty string .
What a find! Love the handle and the sheath! You're an amazing artisan!
As always a masterful work of craftsmanship. Like the way the etching turned out. Alex never disappoints with the result of his labor.
Thank you for feedback ^_^
Amazing and fine works
Thanks!!
Your work just keeps on getting better and better! P.S. “It’s good enough for potatoes” 😂
Haha yes, enough for potatoes)))) Thank you!
I see you have a new sandblaster congrats!😊😊
Yeah! Thank you!
Damn, you're good!
Thanx for giving this piece to new life, Awesome skills
I came for the beautiful knife, but stayed for the glorious scabbard.
Very beautiful blade my friend! Broke my heart a little when the 30 minutes of work got trashed. But you did that old blade a solid. Excellent work Amigo.
Stunning before and after, keeping nice sharp edge. Makes.me.want to restore some of my old knives. Keep up the great work 👍😃
Thank you!
Beautiful knife and scabbard. One of your best restorations.
Thank you! Glad to read really ^_^
I thought so at first too but the blade isn’t quite a Bowie shape with those full length fullers. Remember that James Bowie took inspiration from many existing knife styles of his time, and people were immigrating from all over Europe. I do not doubt that he saw Caucasus style knives when designing his.
But yes, this knife deserves a traditional treatment including that cloven hoof looking pommel. I particularly loved the etching which gives the blade a cultured and wild look at the same time.
Your video put me in great conflict. Being an antique dealer, and collector of edge weapons, I have always believed in😂 leaving as much original form as possible. Your drilling out the hand made holes on the tang, for example, made me cringe. I have many Japanese katana, wakasushi, and tanto I would not apply any of these techniques to. That being said, your expertise in restoration is obvious and greatly entertaining. The finished product here is superb, even if the items' facade of antiquity is greatly compromised (as is the value in auction).
Beep Beep Man- Not all blade restorers wear capes. :) wonderful work as always you always make my day...
Thank you!!
Next level. Lots of outside-the-box artistic choices that all went well. 👍🏼
