    did not discuss the non-line digital free-form bifocals which are progressive just belding to reduce the line . Would be nice to see a video on lined vs non-lined bifocals vs progressives.

      Replying in case, others come here with the same question. After searching, I found your other video (czcams.com/video/PBoH7gf6XdA/video.html) which addresses digital free-form or Digital Add Lenses. Thanks for all the great videos.

      Hey Terry! That’s a solid point, however there is a stark difference between progressive lenses and a true unlined bifocal, and that is the graduation of power, which ain’t present in the digital bifocal, based on an old school round segmented bifocal. We use these a ton in my shop, but I specifically avoided them because most places don’t have access to them and wouldn’t know what they are even if asked (most would assume you mean progressive lenses). Maybe it’s time to revisit it, I’ve VERY briefly mentioned it in some videos, but more to the point, there’s your why. It’s just not super accessible across the board today. I love them, use them, make them, recommend them, and have had a great response with them. For the wearer that doesn’t really need a zone in between distance and near or still has some accommodation left in the eyes to reach full nest power without help, they’re excellent. Fairly often we use these for our professional drivers with just the arms length zone for the gauge cluster and maps and such 😎 (at least as their sunglasses pair).

      Oh yeah, you’re the man!!! I knew I talked a little more about them in one video but couldn’t for the life of me remember which one 😂😂😂 Kudos and thank you! Solid find 😎

      It works that way sometimes sadly :/ so many compromises and many aren't aware of what all of those are before being given the glasses!

    What is blended bifocals so the line doesn’t show and you can’t wear progressive at all?

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      More often it's just mixed up terminology, but yes in proper terms a blended bifocal is a lined bifocal with a small blend zone. There are a wide range of ways to get an add power without defined lines, so it gets interesting and wild pretty quickly. One we use a lot here is a digitally surfaced segment that is rather invisible but behaves like older round lined segments 😎

    I just started wearing bifocals last year they are more money than single vision get VSP extra coverage because they pay a nice percentage on the frames my last pair ran over a thousand dollars but with vsp I paid like 350.00 without lines I had to get used the them. My next pair just after 1 more year they suck because they got the lines so get ones without the lines are better. They were cheaper and I had to be cheap because my eyes got worse the year after I also have a stigmatism in both eyes and needed bifocalsđŸ˜©đŸ˜©đŸ˜©

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Pƙed 2 lety

      I've been in this field for a little while, and I would never recommend a vision benefit plan for a host of reasons, but I'll spare you that schpeel. (If you think it's the same exact lens at 900 vs 200, I've got news for ya.. then there's the premiums....i use to work for a company that was heavy in VSP clients 😌). Your eyes getting worse should have minimal to no affect on pricing unless it's a HUGE change and more often than not that is due to underlying medical issues.

      Haven’t seen that name in awhile so I suspect not. Younger has been primarily working on their Camber and Transitions in recent years. They don’t even make their incredible infinite grey anymore :(

    IVE TRIED VARIFOCALS SEVERAL TIMES AND ADAPT STRAIGHTAWAY IN GENERAL USAGE BUT CANNOT DRIVE IN THEM, MUST BE THE WAY MY HEAD IS WHEN I DRIVE BUT IM NATURALLY LOOKING THROUGH THE WRONG PART FOR DRIVING ,ITS LIKE IM LOOKING THROUGH THE INTERMEDIATE ZONE AND IT DRIVES ME MAD WITH BIFOCALS I DONT GET THAT ,AND CONSIDERING THATS MY JOB IT HAS TO BE BI FOCALS OR SEPERATE DISTANCE AND READING GLASSES

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Pƙed rokem +1

      Gotta go with what works for sure! Most people sit with their head in a more reclined positioned in the vehicle, or are sitting up much higher creating exactly that issue. There are driving progressives made with all of this in mind, but man. They SUCK to read in 😂. You’ve got exactly what you need in a lined bifocal.

      @@ThatGlassesGuy03 just realised caps lock was on😂😂 ....its frustrating getting old but to be honest i dont mind the bifocal line at all ,theyre just a better all round compromise for me than progressives just because i drive so much .

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Pƙed rokem +1

      I totally agree, we usually cut the add just a hair (for gauge cluster) and stick to lined bifocals for drivers if reading is a priority. Just nothing maintains as large of an optical zone as those!

    Hi, I think I have a problem with my accommodation. Im 26 years old, I see fine near and far, but the problem is I get tired without using glasses for near and far. Eye fatigue, and dry eyes nearly cripple my functionability, so I have two eyeglasses. Im thinking of getting bifocals but I dont know if that would be adviceable in my situation. Any thoughts?

    • @ThatGlassesGuy03
      @ThatGlassesGuy03  Pƙed rokem

      Have a discussion with a good optometrist that’s familiar with accommodative spasms and dryness. In general this is just natural aging and your brain is fighting a newly tougher to move lens inside the eye that is beginning to lose some of its elasticity and working the muscles harder. For me I went through this around early 20’s, and just regular glasses gave enough help. Someone more familiar with your prescription and needs can definitely get you going the right direction with your glasses :)
