As I don't have a Cricut machine, this was EXACTLY what I was looking for to get started making these enchanting sculptures. Thanks so much!!!
U just gave me an idea what to give as a gift for my husband! 😍
I'd be lying if I said I'd never use/need a Cricut, but honestly, I simply like to do most things by hand. Call me old fashioned I guess. So that's why I really appreciated your tutorials - and not just one, but 3 to include different skill levels! Yes! It's so refreshing to see your video amongst the hundreds, even thousands(?) of DIY shadow light box videos using a machine. Just know your work is greatly appreciated - and thank you!
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THE SPIRITED AWAY ONE
Agreed! How beautiful 🌱🍃
Just when i was thinking "i need to make a Spirited away version of this" i see your second one!! love love love
+Elle p :D Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! :D
chezlin
You're crazy talented, i'm a bit of a jack of all trades myself and i never find really interesting, pretty, useful, gorgeous and not too easy cheap tutorials.. i love what you do, i definitely subscribed :3
chezlin are you indian
Wow! Just found this channel by accident and your work is amazing. Thank you for sharing your technique.
You're a freakin' champ for doing this without a vinyl cutter. And great job providing people with options at various levels of ability and number of tools. Great video!
wow!!! that glass-top table as a light box is GENIUS!!
Ok, this is awesome. I like the deer/woods scene the most because of the reflection in the water.
Thank you for giving us your time and instructions :)
jobimsgirl You're welcome! :) Thanks for stopping by to check my video out!
The deer lightbox is my favorite too, for the same reason :D
Love the Princess Mononoke one! A very well done tutorial.
I'm so glad I stumbled on your video. I had in mind a light box but wasn't sure how to go about it. What followed were 6 light boxes ranging in size from 18"x18" to 24"x 36" depicting Christmas images for the advent/Christmas season at my church. Thank you for the how-to!!
These light boxes came out so lovely.
I instantly noticed that the first two shadow boxes were studio ghibli based! The advanced being from Princess Mononoke and the intermediate being from Spirited Away :D these pieces are absolutely gorgeous so i might try this myself
TwinkieBuddy :D Thank you! I'm kind of bummed because in the Princess Mononoke one I cut out a few little forest spirit dudes in the branches, but you couldn't really see them that much after I assembled the whole thing. Oh well! I still love how it turned out :) Thanks for checking out my video! I'd love to see how yours turn out if you end up making some! :D
Your video makes it look so simple!
Amazing! The best part of your tutorial is the step-by-step instruction.
This is great. I'm glad you give credit where credit is due and you took their idea and made it your own.
I saved this so in the summer I could try and make one of these, I absolutely love the idea!
Awesome! Good luck when you make yours! :D
It is the summer, what did you do.
You're very talented young lady. I liked all your designs. :)
You are so talented and creative! Thank you for the practical tips and for sharing your gift.
Thank you! My art teacher just said to do a light box! This is exactly what I was trying to find! Thank you!
The Mononoke one looks INSANE. I'm definitely trying this.
Honestly one of the best tutorial videos I have EVER watched!!! Great job :)
Aw thank you so much! Thanks for checking it out!! :D
Caolan Clarke LED light strips
sarah alderson huh?
Caolan Clarke lol
What's so funny lol
You're so good at free handed drawing! Literally goals!
Excellent demo, beautiful artwork. Thank you. X
Looks so so beautiful!!!
I made a nativity scene with a template from a book and it turned out so nice! I hope my parents will like it because it is going to be their present for christmas!
This was SO helpful! Thank you! :) And loved the Spirited Away template! Going to make it for my room soon. Love your videos!
+Gobblefunking Snozzcumbers Yay! I'd love to see how yours turns out! :D
this is amazing and so creative!!! love the first two scenes you created and how you did the reflection effect
What beautiful projects! I’m in awe of your exacto knife skills....i can barely cut a straight line....even with a ruler!
I really love how the first two are from Hayao Miyazaki movies! The Forest Spirit from my favorite of all time movie "Princess Mononoke" and Chihiro in front of the Bath House with Kohaku in the sky, from "Spirited Away". Simply amazing!!
+Bente A. Thank you! :) Miyazaki is a huge inspiration :)
This would be a great project to do with kids. I have seen really young kids who can cut out really hard designs; the small hands I guess. LOL
Just amazing!! It's so beautiful. I absolutely have to make the one with the patronus.
The reflection effect is so nice!
Awesome work! Going to make something like this :D. I love DIY and working with wood!
For the moment I am making wooden toys for charity :D.
Keep up the good work!
Greetings from Belgium
Ur so creative^^ it's so nice:) Keep it up!😘
+Kaydence Auzara Thank you!
They are beautiful
I just found your site and subscribed. You are so talented and I am amazed how you are able to cut such intricate designs with the X-Acto knife. You did beautiful work on each, but my favorite is the deer and landscape. It is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents and taking the time to make this video.
Is there anyway that I could buy the spirit away box from you?!?! Your work is so wonderful! 🌹🌹🌹
This is amazing.
But I still don't get it how the lightning and the depth layers work.
Even cutting the wood! Amazing!
Just LOVE your works
I just found your channel because someone commented on my video that I sound like you haha, and I love all of your videos!! I am so excited to go through and watch them all! Amazing job girl! Also I noticed your tattoo and I'm assuming you're Filipino too?! :O are you full or mixed? I am half Filipino and Dutch! Haha anyway you have a fan!
Ahh thanks!! Honestly I don't think we sound the same... but that's a compliment to you because I hate the sound of my voice haha. I'm glad that that person connected us though! My husband and I have been watching some of your videos, and when we get home from this mini vacation I'm totally going to go and properly binge watch ;) I love your artwork!
And yes, I'm Filipino :D Half Filipino and half French... but my dads side has been in the US for so long I usually keep it super generic and just say 'white.' 💚
yeah I didn't think so either but I'm glad they mentioned you hahaha. Oh wow that's so awesome! I am a bit french too, same here I usually say white but it feels weird sometimes haha. Does everyone assume you are hispanic because I definitely get that all the time. Anyway, I'm so happy to find other Filipino /mixed race creators :D
Yup, especially since I grew up in Texas. I used to be known as "That Mexican girl who can draw!" And now-a-days I'll get older Hispanic gentlemen randomly trying to make conversation with me in Spanish and when I say I can't speak Spanish they give me a look like 'How dare you not know the language of your people' But it's not even my people's language 😩 (But I still can't speak the language of my people either! 😭)
JacquelinDeleon I am half filipino and dutch too! AYYY
If you can't be bothered to cut out the design...do the design in Photoshop ( or other editing program ) in black and white and to whatever size you like...then print it out on tracing paper...job done.
Really good way to make home cozy and deco art. Thank you from Mexico
This is super impressive. Great job! Beautiful work and really unique designs.
Very cool!
Drunken Woodworker Thanks so much! :)
Make Something I wasn't expecting David here. Sid you try this one? I'm super inclined to do one myself.
Spirited Away Light Box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Itachi Uchiha :D The forest scene is Princess Mononoke inspired too :) The camera just didn't want to pick up all the little forest spirit dudes that were in the tree branches
@@chezlin I`d die for a Spirited Away light box! I love the movie so much!
Great video that produces amazing results.
BEAUTIFUL...thank you for sharing your ideas...
What order do the layers on the spirited away one go in? 1-8 or 8-1? (I think it's 1-8 but I thought I should double check before I get ahead of myself.)
The one with the dragon is in the very back... so I believe it's 1 to 8? It should make sense when you start piecing it together :) And you can also do a dry fit (just stack the cut layers on top of each other) first to make sure you have them in the right order and then start gluing ~
+chezlin (it doesn't really matter which way you glue it because you can invert it in the end right? XD
derek xiao
Nope, the spirited away version has too many "solid" layers that would block certain details from other layers if inverted. Also the closer something is to the light, the more faded/transparent it is and vice-versa . If the dragon sheet was in front it would be completely black except for the dragon cut-out.
can you make a template for the forest scene , please
You can buy a colouring book with forest pictures in it ❤if that helps
Very beautiful art-work ! Thank you for sharing your expertise.
I loved them, so beautiful.
what is the type of the paper and what about its weight, thanx ?
+Muhib Alabed looking for the same answer, I know it's cardstock, but whats the weight? And thanks @chezlin!
Lucas Etchenique it's probably pretty light c;
Make it Wooden with Wood Prix's plans.
