First of all the welsh "colonies" were actually really helped by the natives (Teuelches) and the Argentinian goverment. Also, the welsh had established more cities than just Gaiman, like Trelew or Trevelin. However the Argentines started migrating into those cities and they humillate them for their culture calling them "Galensos". This made the welsh descendents stop teaching their children their language what ended up in an Argentinisation of those people almost everywhere but in Gaiman.

When they arrived in these lands they were the only Europeans to respect the native peoples and live in harmony with them. That is why as an Argentine I value the Welsh people very much because they were the only ones in the history of this land not to dehumanize the Tehuelches and Mapuches.

Pretty cool video, btw, the "welsh colony" actually tried to be independent once, this was during the times when Argentina tried to colonize the south (it was inhabited by native american tribes which not even the spainards could defeat), and since there were not so many people that's why the government of the time encouraged immigrants to settle in the south. And yes, the welsh settled in the same spot and they wanted to create a country called "Y Wladfa", but the government forced them to incorporate in Argentina or they would end executed, and that's how the welsh didn't got killed and now they live in the province of Chubut with their sheeps and potatoes, tho, they don't speak their original language anymore and they have to live with the other descendants of immigrants (since the Patagonia has german people around too and some people from the balkans).
