Not at all. Everything, every detail, within a film has been meticulously thought out (especially if its a Damien Chazelle film). Colors and the overall mise-en-scene of every scene matter: from the wardrobe to the lighting. So no, its not overthinking, it is media analysis. Colors tell a story, they are not just there for the aesthetic.
