+SenszR No it wont. Take for example one of its rivals, the AMG SLS. About equal performance data, price and timeline. While the 458 has depreciated, the SLS has doubled since last summer. The new 991 GT3 RS is another example, aftermarket prices are higher than factory prices. All three are naturally aspirated cars.
The 458 just isn't special enough.

+SenszR Well, if you really believe that, then you should invest in one. My family have been investing in cars for years, and would never consider buying one for pure spec. And all of our friends who collect cars do not believe in it as a spec car.
If you want a car that will increase in value, you need something thats special in a different way. There is an estimate of 15000 458s produced. And with a number high as that, nothing will make it special enough.

The 991.2 GT2 RS is basically a speed demon.
The 4.0 is better in terms of excitement than the 2RS IMO
Plenty of tests showing the gt2rs can get to 60 in way under 3.5.

I know the 991 turbos does 0-60 in about 2.7secs unlike Porsches claimed 3.1secs

I am sorry but i really don't agree with that. I can't understand how can someone say one car is better or faster than other just looking at some values printed on a paper. That 0,4 s gap could easily change with the quality of the asfalt used, for example. The tests haven't been done in the same conditions so you can never say one is faster than another. And this cars are meant to be used on road by "normal humans" so, again, 0,4 s are just irrelevant.

we are talking about the manufacturers given times of the vehicles, no other factors involved.
So his verdict is...the GT2 RS is more involving, quicker, more capable, more challenging/rewarding to drive, but the Ferrari wins because well shit it's a Ferrari.

ferrari looks better and it sound better that a win for me to be honest anything above 400 hp in a car thats sub 1500kg for me is fast enough i rather go for the responsiveness and great sounding of high revving na engine
He doesn't say that's his reason. The Ferrari is normally aspirated, sounds better, arguably looks better, and I suspect has more feedback. It also has a linear steering rack, unlike the Porsche's mind bendingly annoying variable ratio system. Lots of potential reasons that don't involve it just being a Ferrari. Don't forget, Jason owns a 911 and is famously unemotional about Ferrari as a brand.

The 458 loves to drift and it can do lap times as well. The sound is better as well. They are both great cars for different reasons!

A really nice low mile 458 is about $350,000. I really nice low mile 997.2 GT2 RS is $750,000. That manual transmission makes all the difference as far as market values are concerned the fact that this is the last manual transmission 2RS doesn’t hurt either.
That porsche with a PDK would do 0-60 in under 3 sec prob, but id still have it manual

+Hussain Delawar Porsche 911 GT3 can rev almost as high, and does sound better than the GT2 because of it (no turbine blocking the exhaust port sound)

I will take the Porsche please. I imagine that it won't make your ears bleed due to noise (unlike the 458!) and that it is better on fuel consumption/greener. That mid-range punch from the Porsche is addictive! And before anyone comments- yes I have been in one as a passenger so do know what I am talking about. The whole experience certainly made me buzz and wouldn't complain if one sat on my drive!
Does it come with a fire extinguisher as standard ? and do the seat belts prevent you from escaping once a fire has taken hold?
I'll have to go w/ the Porsche, they're my favorite, plus it comes down to pure VDub love.

the difference is the GT2 has a standard manual gearbox which is slower to shift than the Ferrari's dual clutch.
you only need to change gear one time (yes, both cars can reach 100 kmh in 2nd gear) and is from the front to the back, so you don't loose too much time doing that vs a dual clutch.

The GR2RS is a car if I had the money I would buy over anything else.
I must say the top trumps is both in accurate and pointless. The power figures are correct, but the 0-62 times are not, I can't recall ever seeing the GT2 RS listed at 3.5 seconds, 3.4 more or less everywhere I've looked, and it's common knowledge that it will do it much closer to 3 seconds than 3.5. The top speed is correct, which brings me to revs. Why is this included? This is not a relevant test in this instance as you have a turbo car against an n/a? So this test shouldn't even be factored in, with that in mind the GT2 RS should actually win this 2-0, but yet the Ferrari comes out level.

R Bax I'll have to dig it out it is from 2011 but if you look hard enough on here it's on here as well. Actually I just bought a magazine and it had a 2 sec 0-60 shoot out and the GT2RS was in it. That's my favorite car on earth! Let me look right now I think I know where it is.
R Bax It's a motor trend and its a battle between the 2014 Camaro which went 4.0 0-60. Then the Nissan GTR track edition and it went 2.7 0-60. Then they had the 2014 911 turbo S that went 2.6 0-60. And that Porsche had 560 H.P. and went 10.9 in the quarter. The 911 GT2RS has 620 H.P.so with the right tires on the back that will rip well into the 2 second mark in the 0-60 competition.:-)

That's not the same. You can't use an AWD Turbo S time then say that because the GT2 is more powerful it can also do it in 2 seconds. I don't think there has ever been a test that has the GT2 RS doing 0-60 in the 2 second range. In fact, I don't think there has been one in which it did it in less than 3.3 or 3.4 seconds. Which is fine. Of course it will do it with the "right tires." Many very powerful cars can do many things with the "right tires."
I think this guy is hung up on the sound the Ferrari makes with the V8 engine, he admits the GT2 RS is the better car with respect to performance but still prefers the Ferrari.
I don't know why Porsche doesn't use the GT3 RS's engine with twin hair dryers that revs to 9000 rpm in the GT2 RS car.

Well obviously you have to incorporate an engine management system when you turbo any car and have proper internals etc to handle the increased pressures.

It really doesen´t matter what car you buy if you can´t use a race driving techniques and if you don´t have experience enought for use a full posibilities of an any car... There are so many people on the road witch driving a fast and expensive cars BUT they don´t have driving skills and the all what they can is the acceleration on the straight road even to drive with an automatic gearbox. If they meet a some driver with more experience and driving sklil He will always will be faster even in a much weaker car. SO if you want to be a better driver and can use a 100% possibilities of the super cars - just go to the racing school get an education and exams in the race driving school than start racing on race tracks or rally and use your skills on the public road. I guarantee you will be really fast even in a slow car and you could defeat a "baby driver" in a Porsche...

Why dont you guys just shut the hell up about 0-60 times altogether and stop worrying about the "speed" at which ground is covered and other useless numbers and bragging rights, and give us what only you, having drove the vehicle, can provide us? and thats a subjective and reasonable opinion on what driving the car is like and how it makes you feel. Its pretty damn simple, and its why we all love cars in the first place. Chrissakes....

What I speak is completely sensible... and comprehensible if you know what you're looking at. The steering wheel in this car is ridiculous looking. Paddle shift is retarded.... built for the retarded. ... and I despise it on everything. Ive driven Lambo Diablos, Murcielago, Multiple Gallardos.. and probably recorded the highest mileage on a Gallardo of anyone at 97,300 miles from new. Then I've Driven Aston Vantage V8, Rousch Mustangs, Zo6 vettes, Saleen Mustangs, Multiple Jaguars s from 80s to present day, Ferrari 308, 348, 360 Modena, 599. Driven S-Lines Audis. Well, Ive driven an arsenal of cars....old and newer, and owned quite a few cars myself over the last 35 years. All Porsche 9-series seem to be ass-end heavy coming out of turns. I've driven many 911, 1 : 930, 3 : 993, 1: 996, and a couple their awd versions-- Porsche people always trying to convince me. Driven the RS America.. and few other specials. The 930 twin turbo is likely the only I'd ever own-- silly fast and fun actually. The rest, I cant justify: they hadnt really changed in 30 years,.. besides some interior junk.. and headlights, snorkels on front, but overall , the same car with 5 dozen face lifts- probably the same door windows in all. Park an 05 next to one made yesterday, and ask an 7 year old to tell you which is newer.
My friend's daughter at 14 cant pick out the newer one. Styling.... ,, Yea, A Lambo is way more advanced and up to date, But I would not even EVER Compare the 2 porsche to lambo.. unles the models .. if not in the same price range. But $120k vs $120k , buying A Lambo ... even a used Lambo. A Porshce made yesterday.. or a new F Type R Jaguar, Id take the F-Type Hands Down. 04-05 Gallardo verses new Porsche, ; I'd choose the old Gallardo. .. because I know its ridiculously reliable if you know how to drive... and shift a real manual . ...Which I did 97,300 miles on one clutch.. and topped it out more than 10 times, while no day went without reaching 150mph.. multiple times and holding it there as long as the road allowed. IF... I bought sa porsche stripped down, even without carpet.. no frills, no ugly hipster steering wheel as in video, then just a bare-bones car... with gobs of power, I might consider it as my 10th car in a collection.. if I still had a collection of any cars. As A kid, I wanted a Porsche...until 1989 when I frist drove one at 16. I was so unimpressed. I had the chance later to drive other porsches so I did. Every time, the same result. Maybe I am a weirdo, but Ive been over 200 many times, been around 170 mph turns.. on the edge of tire limits, but just never felt the same gripo, the same balance, the same stability in a porsche as I have in other cars. but .. I woukldnt ever pick a Ferarri for reliablity.. or handling trust either. Predictable, but not at all what I think is reasonable.. or good for the price.
