- In this video I am working on a G37 Convertible not operating. I manually operate the roofs functions one at a time to get the roof up. This can only be done with a scanner. There is no other manual way. This is the only way to get the top to operate if there is no response from the switch other than a hard reset that may work. In my second video I show you a hard reset and how the convertible top relearn is done with the Scanner as well.
A computer screen that can’t be read, codes send to the OBD we don’t know. Wow, how useful.
Where do we get the scanner?
I had a 2009 Infiniti G37 convertible. Had the same problem as noted above. Mechanic did a history of the car and had to change the hydraulic module on the car. The top is moved by electric motors and hydraulic fluid. The module controlling the hydraulic fluid couldn't build enough pressure to move the top. In a total of 19,000 miles this module had to be replaced twice under warranty. I sold the car didn't trust that they could solve the problem and the car was about to run out of warranty. They told me they upgraded the hydraulic module but I had strong doubts that I would have issues in the future. Get rid of the car is your best bet.
Or you had a incorrect diagnoses done which lead to the Hydraulic unit to be replaced twice. Cause when the top looses it's position, you get a Hydraulic state code. That doesn't mean it would need to be replaced. The proper diagnostics would have you do the proper steps to determine if the Hydraulic pump system would need to be replaced. It sounds more like it was misdiagnosed.
I have a 2013 G37 sport runs and drives perfect hardtop does not operate I see you using a scanner it has a branded title no INFINITI DEALER WILL EVEN WORK ON IT. I took it to a foreign exchange auto shop spent 4K with no result I did not even see them with a scanner is this a program I can put on a lap top. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGES

The Nissan Consult 3 program will work for Nissan and Infiniti models up to 2011. How ever, this may work on your car since the convertible came out in 09. The convertible can only be worked on and diagnosed with the scanner.
Hi! I have a G37 convertible here in India. We have Nissan here and not Infiniti. I have the hydraulic state code error after changing my hydraulic roof pump. Will try these steps on my Infiniti with the scanner attached. After u do the manual thing. Is it the same process for change of pump too

I'm glad I saw this video! Thanks for uploading- I've been considering getting a G37 convertible, saw one for sale locally, but wanted to do some research first as far as any mechanical issues, etc..
These convertibles are actually very good. The key thing is the Battery. If it get s surge of low battery voltage during operation, that is when it can loose it's position to the point it needs to be relearned. That is what happen with this car.
@@FixyourNissan Thanks again for your feedback! How did you use that laptop to plug into the G37's computer? Is it OBD2 or something newer? I'm not good at working on newer 2007 & up cars where you have to have special software or diagnostic equipment..
@@JabokChannel That is the Dealer Scanner. It connects through the OBD2 port and is designed to work with all systems including the convertible top

Dam. Hey how much do you charge if I wanted you to do this. Or how can I do it. My top is not working. The switch is not functioning at all
Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 mins and see if that resets the roof and brings it back to normal operation. If not, then you will need to have the dealer look at your roof and diagnose it.

Do you know how many bolts go to a valve block to repair a Infiniti G37 convertible
2 or 3 bolts?

But it does connect to the hydraulic pump
Some have 2 bolts or 3 bolts

Are you able to reset my convertible top? I’m in the LA Area. & I got a new battery because my old one died & now my convertible won’t open..

These were great when they were under warranty. But as these cars got older. Repairs are expensive and not worth doing repairs.
I bought the software, a laptop, the connector, everything. How do I use it to manipulate the top like you did?

Is it possible to use a scanner from Autozone to do this? Or ONLY from a dealer?
This is a dealer only scanner I am afraid that can do this. Auto Zone certainly can''t do this
Still having issues out of mine, they are blaming it on the aging of the computers, it’s forgetting where it’s at.
I left a six pack in my trunk and caused some damage to the convertible. Do you know anyone who can look at it? The dealer mentioned 12k which is crazy...i’m in Charlotte NC.

@@FixyourNissan I tried it with autel and got it most of the way. But couldn't get the rear glass in the correct position

I’m painting the quarter panel and left the top half opened it began to finish opening on its own and stopped at about 85% ( trunk still open and rear flap still rising ) I reset and it and it just moves a bit but won’t actually open or close stays in the same position

What’s the steps to manually close it with the scanner ??
Video 2 has the manual steps on how you move each function with the scanner in small stages to get the roof closed.
no wonder these g37 convertible,s selling for so damm cheap one guy selling me a 2009 with 67,000 miles for only 7,000 in nyc.

@@bijdikh8516 When I bought mine, I had 8 different issues under warranty. I spent more time in a rental than my own car.
