- IF you are looking to buy an Infiniti G37, then watch this first! You should always know what kind of issues a car has before you make that purchase. Doing so will help you make an educated purchase.
The V36 G37 from 2007-2013 is actually really reliable regarding its powertrain, but there are a good bit of issues you should watch out for.

Thinking of getting a 2013 g37s or a 2017 Acura ILX will update what I end up getting
At 130k miles. I drove my 2008 G37 Coupe from Los Angeles to New York and back within 2 weeks. It’s the most reliable car I’ve ever owned running strong at 150k miles
Nice. Did yours suffer from the “melting dash?” My 2008 Altima Coupe did, and that’s the only major problem I had with that car. Which is the only thing stopping me from getting a nicely used G37 Coupe for weekend driving
I have had my 2012 g37x sedan for almost 2 years now and I have had zero major issues. Only thing I have needed to replace were both front axles because I am on air suspension. Love these cars super reliable and very fun to drive
Is it still going good?
Thank you for posting g37 common issues. Very helpful!!!
I got mine at 45k and now it’s at 90k in 3 years; so far no problems
Twelve thousand RPM at idle? Wow that's a high revving engine!
You are right. I definitely meant 12 hundred
Mine revs at about 650-700. Never had that problem
The car wants to go fast🤣🤣🤣
I was like woah now. Mine must not be right
650-750 is normal idle. Mine only idles at 1k+ when the AC is on
Had my 2013 g37 journey for abt 6 months now. No problems runs awesome get you one
6 months ago my wife and I got a 2012 C300, 4matic. And a 2013 G37x
The G has crazy power, but is difficult to drive "normally". The c300 only has 225 hp, and is more comfortable to drive.
The only reason we got the g37x was for the AWD feature, I had no idea of the performance until we test drove it, WOW is what I said....
great video guy!
My previous car was 2007 G35S. It has none of the problems except peeling paint but I'm not so picky so... My son still drives it and it's still extremely reliable. My current car is 2017 GSF and with PSS10 installed I still love to drive that old 125K mile Nissan.
I just picked up a 2012 g37 a few days ago. Seems to be a really nice car. These problems that you mentioned don't seem too bad either pretty glad to hear that.

I bought my 2008 manual G37s coupe with 120k miles, it now has 136k miles. I kinda got unlucky as the previous owner did not do any maintenance needed past 100k which I shortly ran into issues. My clutch went out very quick, spark plugs, ignition coils, maf sensors, I have replaced gallery gaskets, water pump, 2 idle pulleys, pulley tensioner, coolant hose, had a vacuum leak and my ac has not worked for almost a year now. Still love the car all I haft to say is make sure the previous owner takes care of it
Damn that’s allot of shit. I’m hoping my galley gaskets don’t go bad. Everything else seems cool, besides the lag on a AT and the rattle from a loose heat guard on my C-converter.
Lmao ever since i had to take my radiator off to replace my thermostat my ac has not worked lol pretty sure one of the lines to the condenser is leaking freon . I feel your pain. But omg i still love the car even tho its a 5 speed at
I have a 2012 G37 coupe automatic with the sport package. The two fairly major issues I've had was the dash cracking and the catalytic converters both failing. Luckily I bought the car used but still within its factory bumper to bumper warranty. I believe if you make a big enough deal out of it there is an extended warranty up to like 5 years or something on both the catalytic converters and the dash cracking cuz it is a known issue. I think my first catalytic converter was replaced under the regular bumper to bumper warranty but when the second one failed it was out. I still got them to replace it for free
how is it on gas?
Doesn’t the warranty have a time limit besides milage? I have a 2012 g37 convertible with 50k there’s no way its under warranty that would be a dream
Only issue I had with my 2012 g37 sedan journey at around 90k miles was a plastic connector in the cooling system...hard to replace as far as position...its at the back of the engine, so you will need an extension to reach it.
Own a 14 Q60 IPL in graphite shadow. Routine maintenance with just 65k on it. No issues whatsoever. And a drop dead sexy ride. I’ll never let go of it!
Thinking of getting a 2013 ipl with 90k miles such I go for it
Don’t forget the cluster light going out and the fuel line not being accurate
A few months ago I picked up a 2010 G37X with 212k miles. Fully loaded with all the options, besides it not being the sport version of the X. 2 Previous owners. First one did all dealer service up to 140k, second owner replaced driveshaft, rear calipers, plugs+coils, some wheel bearings, flushed all the fluids, and did 5k oil changes. When I picked the car up it needed a battery, alternator(+ belt + pulleys + tensioner), and a starter. I still need to clean some grounds up and change the ATF, but the car is really drives great for the mileage.
looking to pick up a 2010 convertible one of these at 75k miles, cant wait

2010 G37 Convertible 7AT Owner and honestly... it has been one of the best cars I have ever owned it has an ageless design inside and out in my opinion. Only flaw is the V6 7AT initial throttle response lag, but a quick fix! Do yourself a favor and buy a PedalCommander, deletes that response lag and makes your car feel more alive. Other than that, the steering wheel paint thing is definitely annoying seen it on a few friends (not mine luckily) but not the worst! Just go for that 2012 model if possible to avoid the possible galley gasket failure.
I got a 08 G37s coupe, I hear about the infamous galley gasket issue. Man I hope that don’t happen to mine. I’m at 97k. All seems good. What would I have to watch out for, for a heads up on it?
@@swervv2957 i have a 2008 g37s with 160k and im just as nervous but i think its random with each motor. Some don't fail while others do.
@@killakam123321 Same mileage and year myself. No issues. If the Galley Gasket blows I will definitely be trading it in.
Other common issues: Sunroof overflow leaks and other rubber/plastic parts deteriorating, valve cover gasket leak, worn hood and trunk struts, clogged oil pans, and the notorious gallery gasket issue (not exclusive to 08 to 12). Stock head units feel dated and aftermarket options are sketchy (wish I knew about this beforehand). All this being said: My coupe is my baby and I still love her. Just gotta keep in mind they are older, and even with them being solid cars, parts will need to be replaced.
Gallery gasket issues are 08 to 12?
The gasket issue is a bit overblown. It doesn't actually happen as frequently as people say
i bought a g37x coupe new in 2011, its become a winter beater now for me, after i bought a supra in 2022. Ive kept it in great shape and only has 78k miles but infiniti/nissan used some shitty materials when they made it. Even though I applied protectants regularly, used a sun shade, and kept the car clean at all times, the car now has chipping paint from some of the silver pieces, my dashboard has a sticky feel in certain areas, the plastics and trim have aged poorly. The stock head unit also really sucks if you don't have a navigation package. I can't stream music from my phone via bluetooth, and since i dont have an iphone i cant even connect my phone to the car via usb to even charge it. Also, theres not even an aux input so my phone is pretty much useless in that car. The transmission sucks too, the shifts are so slow compared to modern sports coupes/sedans. I enjoyed the car when it was new and have done a decent amount of mods to improve it and those have helped, but for the past couple of years, it still feels too outdated. The car is also almost worthless now, was told i could prob only get 12k if i sold it myself lol. Which is why i didnt get rid of it, and decided to use it as a 2nd car for the winter. I would rec someone not a buy a high mileage G series. Better off getting something more modern, even if it has less power.
I’ve had my 2007 G35 for over 6 years with 240k miles paying for maintenance but still love my car
Keep taking care of it and you’ll see 60k more 🙏 what did you pay for it?
I love my 37 and hear hood and bad about issues in different years. I just hope mine is good, and so far so good, 2 years having it. Minor issue’s I’ve had a couple but nothing big TG. 240k! Shit I’d be happy with that. Can you elaborate when you say “paying for maintenance”? Like basic stuff? Like Oil changes and break, tires, exc.
I have an 07 g35x and the steering wheel lock broke but as long as you don’t care if the wheel doesn’t lock you can fix it for free by pulling 1 fuse
I have a 2010 g37x for over 2 years and I barely had any of these problems
I have a 2010 with 269,000 miles on it. Not one problem. Hope I didn't just jinx myself 😂
Bought my 2008 g37s at 49k three years ago. The car now has 91k and I’ve never had to replace anything on the motor or trans outside of regular maintenance. Used the car for work two of those years on the potholed streets of Saint Louis and I DRIVE it. Highest speed I ever hit was 140 mph racing a friends supercharged mini. Had someone offer to buy her today. Lol
That's not really a long time. Now if you said 150k that would have been impressive lol.
My ‘09 G has 200,500 miles and just replaced the starter otherwise it has been a good car owned it 6 years now since 146k
#1 should be Galley / Gallery Gaskets.
#2 for the manuals should be RJM Clutch Pedal to fix the pedal and get yourself a reliable Tilton Clutch Master Cylinder.
#3 should be removing the Sunroof Drain Filters, they’re pointless and gives you water leaks on interior. Extend the hose a little and welcome to dry interior.
#4 should be, removing the 3 bolts that hold up the sunroof instead of waiting for them to gradually get loose, putting a minor dab of locktite and retightening them up.
Then everything else you mentioned big dawg! ❤
This is golden, thanks bro!

I need to replace the gallery gasket on me and my wife’s 2008 Infiniti G37 type s coupe. Beat thing to do is get an after market metal gasket. The oem gallery gasket is made of a material that deteriorates all the time.

Surprised that the passenger seat occupancy sensor issue didn’t make the list. It was gonna cost like $8k for a new passenger seat in my G37 ‘vert so I just bought a little box that emulates the sensor and tells the car everything is ok. Otherwise the SRS system will disable itself.

I drive a G37 IPL, and am very pleased.
Performance: my best 1/4 time is 14.4 seconds. The G has plenty of torque, but the final drive ratio is less than perfect for 1/4 mile times. The G shifts from 4th to 5th gear just before the finish line. So I am crossing the finish line at the bottom of the torque curve not the top.
Automatic transmission: with 6 forward gears, the transmission is always “hunting” for the proper gear. The slightest change in road elevation, and the G will either up or down shift.
Reliability is excellent. Other than routine maintenance such as tires and oil changes, I haven’t put a dime into the car.
Summary: if you can find a used G37 IPL with less than 50,000 miles, get it. You will be please with the bang for your bucks.

My G37 has about 84K miles and I really hadn't had any real issues with it. Only maintenance, a clock issue and my mechanic said the brake master cylinder was probably going to need replacement eventually. Two weeks ago the transmission went out and I learned that it was due to the radiator leaking into the transmission. The cost of replacing the radiator and transmission would approach $10,000. What is the power train warranty on that car?

Lmao you didn’t even mention the biggest issue for 08-11 models, the gallery gaskets

Didn't mention the flashing airbag lights and costly repair! I personally think the manufacturer is responsible for the cracked dashboards and should replace them free of cost
You missed a few big ones for G37. Passenger Occupant Sensor fails and can only be fixed properly by replacing the entire passenger seat for $5K - $7K or installing an OCS Emulator bypass to keep your airbag on all the time. Third option is to ignore the blinking red light about airbag failure on dash and Passenger airbag disabled light on the console. The sensor is not field replaceable and even if it was and you found the part in a junkyard, the labor to take apart the seat and specifically the bottom cushion would be huge. Easier to just replace the entire seat if you can find on that matches or just use an OCS bypass.
Also, while they had dash recall for the earlier G37s, the newer ones (2010+) still get sticky / shiny and probably will eventually melt / crack, but as of yet no recall.
i got the stickness to go away with oxiclean. The shine is present but better than before, dust doesnt stick to it though, and no cracking. I could prob make it look great if spray painted it, but im not gonna remove the entire dash, that is way too much work
Nice
the biggest issue is the a/t delay on up shifts
The sport mode is a bit quicker to respond and will keep you in the power band until you let off the gas for a sec
Just got a 2013 Infiniti g37s with 56k miles and the transmission when I barely touch the gas shifts slow and and a little hard but if I hit the gas shifts fast and smooth is it normal for these transmissions I have heard they can be kinda clunky transmissions
try a trans flush and maybe a tune for that.
we just got our 2012 Journey sedan 1.5 months ago. The trans seems good, the rpm on the highway are a total joke however...
