    i hit 180k miles yesterday on my 2011 g37x sedan. ive only done fluids, filters, spark plugs, ignition coils, and cleaned throttle bodies. it still pulls as if it had 1000 miles on it. I also drive it in manual mode everyday, no problems. keep making g37 content bro

    I've had a 2007 G35 sedan, a 2011 G37 2WD coupe, and have had a 2014 Q50 2014 3.7 for about ten years so far. The first two were 3 year leases, so no problems with them. The Q50 which has just shy of 130,000, is parked outside in a parking lot. My exhaust was rusted out and had to be replaced. I had them change all the fluids except for the diff (planned). I had an expensive problem with the brake vacuum thingee (forget what it was called), which was a 4 grand job. A wheel sensor which was about a grand. Tires, plugs, pads and rotors, oil and filter all as needed/recommended. It's not a cheap car to fix (by the dealer) but I've never broken down. Still pulls like new, no rattles, or creaks, no problems with the suspension nor engine. Someone busted my pass. side mirror housing and I'm seeing prices between 2-3 grand. Whoa! I'm retired and don't have a s-ton of money, so I'm getting a little nervous. Also some rust beneath the kick plate on the driver's side door sill. Would recommend these cars. A bit pricey but very reliable. Feels good to vent :)

Next fix is the EVAP for the rear canister and the Rebro bearing for the driveshaft. Already did the-map flow sensors and the plastic heater core system which to me is a major failure for these engines. Want to do a tune on it, but right now the top speed is limited to 147mph. 2012 G37x Sedan.... at 184,000kms and just got P0302 and P0106 (CEL) error codes. Lots of research somehow led me to this video. I just did spark plugs 10,000kms ago and I had no idea ignition coils needed to be replaced too. Now I guess I have to, with the P0302 warning. My question is, do I have to change all 6 ignition coils or can I get away with just changing one? Like you said they aren't cheap... I'd save on shipping if ordered all 6 now but I need to know if it's absolutely necessary. The other issue with P0106 involves the MAP Sensor and I don't want to buy a new one for $120 unless I had to. At 184,000kms, what else do you recommend ordering, replacing, or cleaning when I'm already bringing the car to the shop??

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  Před 7 měsíci

      Is your misfire random or cylinder specific? If it’s specific try moving a working coil pack to that cylinder and retrying

      Is it auto or manual? Have you done trans fluid? There's diff schools of thought on trans fluid as to whether or not to do it. I did mine around 140k and it made my trans better but some people say that doing it for the first time above 125k risks needing a new trans.

    I have a 2013 G 37 Journey Sedan that now has 180,000 miles! When I bought the car used from Auto Nation it had 144400 miles! I bought this car in 2020 during the pandemic! The Car is Super Clean! Inside and Outside looks almost like a new car! Since then I have had the AC Rebuilt with brand new Nissan parts for the entire AC system! I have replaced the water pump, new battery, hoses etc. I have had the engine and transmission looked at and the mechanics have said that they are strong! My question is; if I just want to keep this car and maintain and restore it until it becomes a classic and eventually have the engine and or transmission rebuilt when that time comes and don’t mind spending money, can this car last for decades, even if I liked the car enough to buy new whatever it takes to keep it running? Are there enough factory and aftermarket parts?! If money is no object?!

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Right now there certainly are a ton of parts to keep the car going the real question is will the parts still be produced in 20-30 years? I think the answer is most likely yes due to the popularity of the car. You see cars like the 300zx still have parts produced for them and they ran in the 90s. These will probably have aftermarket support for a while!

    2011 G25x at 155k miles. Things wrong with it is the front wheel bearings need to be replaced, the front cv axle boots are leaking, and I believe the O2 sensors or cats need to be replaced because of the service engine soon light. Other than that it's been a pretty reliable car.

      Absolutely. It seems that 3.7 Q50s are running just as reliably as G37s based on all the feedback I’ve seen on them 👍👍

      Make sure you use Matic S. And check for the fluid level. drained and filled mine at 140,000 miles now it has 156,000 miles no problems.

    I have a 12 G37SMT sedan with 190K+ miles. Original owner. Great body style (white pearl exterior/black interior), fun to drive and a blast when you get on it and working through the gears. Corners.....yeah, it is fun on corners. Surprises a lot of people because it hugs the road well. Purchased it new but within the first 36K miles the power steering had to be replaced as well as the car computer and all four electronic door locks. Two of them had to be replaced a second time. Gripes beyond that I have are; the cabin does have a lot of road noise, traction control isn't great for an RWD 6-speed ( live in the PNW so winters can be a little challenging). I rarely open my sunroof because the air noise is loud and that damn unibody design drives me nuts. I've had 94, 97 and 01 Maxima's and all had the same damn chipping of the paint on the trunk lid and body by the tail lights as my G. Brought it up to the Infiniti service manager and he tried to tell me I likely chipped the trunk with my Golf Clubs. Yeah, right. Other than that, I will drive it until it gives up the will to run. No other upgrades. I take care of the engine (I sense the clutch is nearing EOL) and the body is in great shape. You wouldn't know it's 12 years old. The only add on items are a rear spoiler and lit Infiniti kick plates.

    Man with how cheap reman akebono's are no reason to put those caliper covers on.

    • @BalancePointMedia
      @BalancePointMedia  Před 5 měsíci

      If you time them with a rotor, brake pad, and line service the conversion price is definitely justifiable but if the brakes don’t need anything it doesn’t make sense. The covers ran me $150 and served me very well for the 4 years I ran em
      Will probably sell for $100

      @supradoom Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@BalancePointMedia I bought a full set of remans powder coated red for $250. I also sold my own full akebono set with rotors/calipers/pads for $600. Just would rather add a little more and get some functionality as well.
