HAVE LEARNING CONVERSATIONS // How to give feedback using the Advocacy Inquiry Model (with scenario)

  • I go through the advocacy inquiry model and relate it to having higher-level learning conversations, and how to use it giving feedback. It is a model to ensure there is a balance between what your views are and finding out what the other person thinks too.
    Having a learning conversation is a healthy and easy way to provide feedback to someone, be that a learner or colleague, or even a family member! By moving away from the traditional style of giving feedback towards a learning conversation, makes it so much more enjoyable for you as the 'sender' of information. There is so much information on both the Advocacy Inquiry model, as well as The Ladder of Inference. These two models really link together because The Ladder of Inference is all about how we use the information we gather to base our reactions and judgments on, and then the Advocacy Inquiry model helps us to take that further.
