HOW TO LEAD ON CHANGE MANAGEMENT // 3 Tips for Successful Change

In this video, I give you my 3 top tips on how to succeed in implementing change and implementing a strategy. Managing change is a vast topic, but these 3 tips are my personal focus elements whenever I want to bring about a change in practice. It can be daunting to learn how to lead on change management, especially if you have a large project to run, but this video will give you 3 tips for successful change!
The 3 tips I talk about in this video are:
- Focus on the why; ensure you are spending enough time talking about the detail behind what you are trying to bring about, and focus on why it is important, not only to the target audience but to you. If you can deliver the why then people are much less likely to be resistant or confused by what you are trying to bring about. People can buy into ‘why you are doing something’; it is harder to gain buy-in for what you are doing if they don’t understand the reasons behind it. This all points towards your vision - make sure it is clear. This can also mitigate those times where it gets tough - if you are bringing about a change, it is not always going to be plane sailing - there will be times where something doesn’t go to plan - but if people buy into the ‘why’ - you are more likely to keep them rooting to you and a joint success!
- Find and celebrate short-term goals; you really need to ensure you can turn elements of the goal of your strategy into short-term targets, which can be seen, felt, and celebrated. The bite-size chunks which all add up your end goal, provide energy to preserver to the next goal. It is also a good idea to communicate these wins to all involved, to not only keep raising awareness of the strategy, but this will in turn motivate you!
- Show your passion; you are far more likely to succeed at winning over hearts and minds if you are enthusiastic about what you are doing, and deliver your engagement with passion. There are many areas of successful communication that the tone in which you say something relates to; it is no different when it comes to what works in terms of implementing strategy. This provides motivation to others as passion triggers passion, and when you have passionate followers, they will loyally stand by what you believe in.
