    You are absolutely right, I did love this game when I was 10. Probably still would love it at 33 but that's just me. I loved the comic style origin story the game opens up with of how he was just a regular janitor by day... classic gem for me since not many people I've met can remember this game. This is a great game to play with younger children. My 6 yo and 3 yo will literally roll on the floor laughing. It nostalgic for me so I enjoy playing it for their amusement also. Obviously with a game called Boogerman and being made in the 90s it's going to go overboard on the gross out humor. Honestly it does what it set out to do pretty well.

  • @diebesgrab
    @diebesgrab Před 3 lety +2

    I had a Sega Visions issue that had a feature on Boogerman when I was like 8, and I wanted this game so bad. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t really be able to appreciate it anymore, but there’s a part of me that wants to play it just to satisfy 8-year-old me’s ambitions.

  • @Dorelaxen

    One of the VERY few times I prefer the Genesis version over the SNES. I once heard the game being described as a "game much like Aladdin, but with farts and toilets." Pretty accurate if you ask me.

    • @Ramjet164
      @Ramjet164 Před 6 lety +5

      Dorelaxen if there's very few games you prefer the genesis version, you're not playing enough genesis. It a pretty even split.

    • @Dorelaxen
      @Dorelaxen Před 6 lety +4

      I've played hundreds of Genesis games. Rarely do they compare to their SNES counterparts, for me at least. While I love the tinny Genesis sound, the sound on the SNES is usually SO much better. Boogerman is a rare exception to that. In fact, my Genesis collection is substantially larger than my SNES one, and the Phantasy Star series is my all time favorite RPG.

    • @Ramjet164
      @Ramjet164 Před 6 lety +3

      Dorelaxen it's funny I'd say that there's generally much more bass on the megadrive, but it's sound is tinny sort of on the mid range so I get what you're saying. The extra processing speed makes a hell of a lot of games better to play on the megadrive imo. Even if they mostly look worse (colour being the general issue).
      Each to their own I suppose.

    One of the things not discussed in SNES/Mega Drive comparisons is the resolution of the games. Actual resolution doesn't need to be mentioned but the Mega Drive gets more screen real estate in some games like this and Cool Spot. Meaning you can see more and are more aware of incoming enemies or obstacles.

Juvenile as this game seems to me now, the first time I witnessed that at age 8 or so, I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous it was. I trade a funky ps2 towards my copy because it's fairly uncommon and it's so childish in it's humour that it's amusing to me that it was even made, the fact that its a decent platformer is a bit of a bonus

    Perfect review for this. Yeah, it's got tons of objectively positive aspects, the amount of detail, imagination and obvious TLC (bizarrely enough) put into all the graphics and spritework is pretty insane, and as a game at its base-level it's really very solid and fun to play (once you get past your limited ammo for all your attacks). But the theme... dear God, the theme. Again, I can commend them for really sticking to it and going all-out, just absolutely wringing every drop out of the gross-out craze, and honestly for the mid-90s the appeal was definitely there for young boys at the time that were the biggest console-owning demographic. But man, even when I was IN that demographic at the time of release it was eyeroll-inducingly overkill and as an adult it's even harder to put up with it. So pretty much I have the exact same sentiments and I daresay most people who've played it probably do as well.

    Well, what do you expect? Of course, this game's gross-out humor is very in-your-face. I mean, it WAS made in the 90's when gross-out humor was very popular with cartoon shows like "Ren & Stimpy", "Rocko's Modern Life", and "Cow & Chicken". Hell, even "Earthbound" (one of the greatest RPGs of all time) consisted of plenty of in-your-face gross-out humor (e.g. a gigantic puddle of green puke that makes barfing and belching noises prior to you having to fight it in order to advance further). Nintendo Power Magazine also threw in plenty of in-your-face gross-out humor for some of their advertisements for other games besides Earthbound. So yeah, in-your-face gross-out humor was one of the biggest themes of the 90's. Still a great review, though! I always enjoy watching your videos SNES drunk! Looking forward to more! :)
