It might just speak to the actual age of the people who would’ve played this game as a kids, that whenever I hear the flintstones theme all I can think about is Homer Simpson crashing into a chestnut tree

This game is an underrated gem of a simple fun game.
This game was my childhood (along with Mario, the DKC trilogy, Killer Instinct, and some other SNES games)! I loved playing it so much, especially with my younger cousins!
For all the talk Capcom/Disney gets, Taito/Hanna Barbara deserves some more love.
And Hudson soft/Felix the cat
Warner Bros., Square Enix and Konami need to negotiate to make compilation of Tiny Toon and Hanna Barbera games for NES, SNES, Mega Drive and Game Boy released for modern platforms.

I just want to let u know that you are helping me with your videos. I never played the snes growing up, but I played them around middle school and loved the music and it's games. Currently college has been killing me, and studying for my entrance exam for my program has been really stressful with anxiety. Your videos are really helping me out though. It's because the game just look like Super Mario World (but in the Flintstones universe)
It's also similar to Prehistorik Man, as they were made by the same people.

I bought this game last year and I liked it a lot, it's rather easy and basic at the beginning but I died a lot in the last stages, so I think the difficulty curve is fine. There are a lot of things to do in the map apart from the platform stages, so I think it's well varied, I absolutely recommend it, another good game from Taito.
Okay, the Fleenstones theme song was REALLY well done. Sounds really good.
Also one of those mode 7 racing tracks is literally Donut Plain 1 from Super Mario Kart. So it's just a matter of time until SiIvaGunner notices this game and memes it to death until people make the romhack and replace Fred with Grand Dad. Y'know, the best possible timeline.

''take a pic of the screen with ur phone'' , oh my, why didn't i think of that that when i had this game in 1995 ? instead of making a convoluted schematic that i memorized by heart ? as far as i remember, since i had no idea what a club sandwich was, we called it cheesecake , and that log looking thing was biscuit...hey , we were kids.
My cousin and I never beat this when she was 9 and I was 7. I think you might overstate how easy this game is. It isn't DKC or anything, but I think even someone under 10 would find it challenging enough.
When I was a teenager and first beat DKC after playing it since the age of 8 I was so happy 😂

Me and family played this all the time ! Games like this, Goof Troop , Aladdin , etc were hidden gems .

I was probably 10 when I rented this game with my sister & some friends. The thing I remember most about it is how hilarious we thought the sound of Fred climbing trees was.

This was honestly a great game. Good graphics, great music, not too hard and not too easy, a little simple to be sure but they stuck enough variety to keep it sufficiently fresh.

One of the few games I ever played with my mom. I remember it being challenging, but I also remember being 4 or 5 years old...Super Mario World's World 3 was also difficult back then...

It is actually pretty good co-op. I finished it with a friend who's not good at all at platformers and both of us really enjoyed a lot while it lasted

Played this one a TON growing up. When you showed the password screen, I was warped back to writing those symbols down on pieces of paper, which took forever because it's SO long. Absolutely loved the music in this game, too. Great video as always!

I heard he's going to review the SNES demo of Cyberpunk 2077 as it was first announced in 1995 for current and next gen consoles.
Capcom and Konami are always recognized for making such solid licensed games during the 8 bit and 16 bit era but I woukd also add Taito roght next to them. They did such a great job with Hanna Barbera properties.

I had The Flintstones The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy on NES as a kid and that game was hard as balls
Rented this when I was around 7 - 8 years old and enjoyed this very much with my two neighbors (and childhood friends).
I'd love to see this idea expanded upon, we have stuff like dokapon kingdom and mario party, but a board game where you take turns doing single player platforming stuff could be really fun
@@Charles.Wright Me and the OP... lol. Mixing a Mario 3/Mario World/3D World with its world map and platforming stages together with tons of Mario Party elements sounds like a blast.

Insulting review. Had a crew of the hardest core late teen gamers as friends in the 90s and they all adored playing this game.
I remember being so confused by the gameplay structure as a little kid. At 7 years old I expected every game to be like Mario platforming. I was like, "Racing? Dice? Why god!? I just want to run to the right side of the screen!"

When I first saw the Fred sprite I thought I was looking at the Megadrive game released by Taito in 1993. They probably used that game's spritework as a base. This game definitely has a better rendition of the Flintstones theme song but I always shyed away from this game because of the boardgame structure. The Megadrive game might be worth a look sometimes as it is a straightforward platformer and more challenging than I expected too.

I loved this game when I was a kid, the nice presentation and the forgiving challenge made a great enjoyment for a feel good rental on the weekend. Your review makes me think this would be a good game to have to play with my nephews

This game is one of those ideas that we all accepted as something cool and different when we rented it that weekend that, if it were tried today, absolutely everybody would scream and cry about because it isn't exactly what they've played a million times before.

Don't be turned off by the difficulty. This is a solid, fun time even for 2d platforming veterans. Not to mention there are a good few stages that can be quite tricky, even downright annoying. But thanks to the board game mechanics they're also skippable with good rolls or going around them!
I beat this as a kid and loved it. My only issue was in some of the races, I would have some laps not count if I was in the lead. Idk if anyone else had that issue or not. It was an easy fix, I just had to stay in 2nd place until the final lap.
The Taito Flinstones games were all really awesome. Too bad this one and Dinosaur Peak are so expensive and hard to find. The genesis one is great.
This game gives me Ganbare Goemon vibes, I could totally see this being another spinoff like that Ebisumaru game, but with The Flintstones.

I had this game when I was younger and I remeber that the levels were pretty hardcore to beat... also, I recall that game overs were pretty common.
You mentioned this is an easy game ideal for youngsters... maybe I was too young to remember or too dumb, but I think this game is one of the hardest ones I've played in the SNES!

I really wish more games would try to take on the board game formula. I feel like Mario Party has scorned the market in a great a idea that isnt getting explored nearly enough.
This looks much better than the Flintstones movie game. I'll have to check it out. I knew they had a Flintstones game for the Nes and Genesis. I didn't know they made a cartoon game for SNES

It's so refreshing to see a licensed game of an older property like this that isn't a rushed, half-assed piece of crap.
That was one of the first games I ever played, one of the three my uncle had but I couldn't figure out how to play it, haha. Might give it a try again.
I recall playing it as a young child. To me it was not hard, but felt long back then. I never completed it actually. I remember being impressed with the graphics and character and world treatment. I say it is worth your time to play actually.
This game was enormous fun to speedrun.
