I find it helpful to put the frame I am going to graft in the cell builder for an hour or 2 before I graft since it is full off well fed nurse bees they will make sure the lava are sitting in big pools of royal jelly. This helps some with acceptance but the big pay-off is that well fed lave make the best queens or as the old saying goes "90% of the breeding is in the feeding".

G'day Trev, just wondering how much time do we have from removing the frame from the donor colony to placing the graphs in the cell builder?
Thanks so much for not only this but all your videos.

    Very informative.
What type of queen excluder is that? Most I’ve seen are basically a flat sheet. This one has a ‘structure’ on the end.

Amazing, thanks Trev. Are you using these just for your own hives or do you sell Queens?
What would the bees do if the queen was missing (say died) and there were no queen cells in the hive? Can they take a regular fertilised grub in a regular cell and somehow turn the cell into a queen cell?

Thanks Trev, I'd read that but couldn't understand how they converted the cell. I thought queen cells were always larger.

Oh cool, that all makes sense. It made sense they'd be able to. Thanks for that information. I've always thought them to be fascinating girls ;)

Only those who know where the queen came from will recognise the name 😉

I always use the initials of the suppliers queen (when not using my own stock) that way if I share details it isn't so obvious to someone else. Just a minor detail that wouldn't have mattered if you weren't making the video.
