I would love to see the Nintendo Switch 2 as powerful as a PS5 with the Nvidia
The rumor is false. Looked into the people talking about this. Then they have been on the face of this planet for a month. They make some bad nintendo accessories. Thinking of all the people out there, that could know stuff.. then a rumor comes out from a random company that no one has heard about. that is a major red flag

I hope this rumor is true. With the regular Switch, Nintendo mostly catered to the portable players making a Switch Lite and Switch OLED. It's now time they catered to us players who prefer to play in dock by giving us a decent power boost for TV docked play.
A smaller screen at 1080 doesn’t really need as much power than docking to a 40”+ 4k screen. So it probably will be much different.

Most nintendo games don't require high clock speeds or any significant GPU. It's not their prerogative to make high performance devices. The only performance increase I suspect we'll see in a new device from Nintendo are higher framerates.
You all didn't know what 8 years gap in mobile SOC/APU technologies can do ! Looks at smartphone, every year upgrade.
I'm not sure what people are worried about. This thing is going to be amazing. Imagine what Nintendo can do with PS4 level of power.
PS4 Pro level power hardware in Switch 2 Nvidia Tegra 239 has 4.6 Tera flop. That's close to PS4 Pro 4.8 Tera flop.
But of course they'll only use higher clocked for docked mode only. On handheld mode it'll be 0.9teraflop ultra low mode to preserve battery life. And let DLSS 3.1 upscaling technology take care of making visuals look amazing and get that great graphics. Upscaling 720p resolution on handheld to 1080p with ray reconstruction and ray tracing and 90hz refresh rate and on docked mode 1080p resolution will be upscaled upto. 4K resolution with 60fps!
Why would you want to buy something equivalent to an 8 year old console. If you are that desperate for retro - just buy a Chinese rip-off with a 1000 games. Nintendo must laugh at how easy it is to produce very old, slow tech and sell it high and charge huge prices for the exact same old games and the moronic sheep still buy!
That would be cool and acceptable if the steam deck and the Rog Ally didn't exist
If it’s as powerful as ps4 it can stay where it’s at, because it’s still behind technology, lacks performance , and never be a competitor to the ps5/xbox x
@@marcusfreeman4101 Nintendo doesn't compete with Sony and Microsoft at raw hardware power. They stopped doing that after GameCube, failure. But that doesn't mean Nintendo doesn't compete with Sony and Microsoft.
Because where they stopped competing in hardware power. They compete in innovation and gimmicks and mainly on making sure their software are good and their ip's are great games. That is what made Switch so successful at 140+ millions being sold.
Their games have very little NFT, no micro transactions, just DLC's no loot boxes and mostly their games are super polished with minimal bugs and glitches aside from Pokemon games.
With that being said I think Nintendo delaying switch 2 release until 2025 is great move their making sure their 1st party AA games are optimized well and polished. And the 3rd party studios and developers get their hands on Switch 2 devkits behind the scene. And are probably taking their sweet time to learn the inns and out's of the hardware and software making sure they have all AA Games. To milk off switch 2 success even more.
That's the reason why Microsoft made a 10 year deal with Nintendo to milk every dime and cent from their game's overpriced CoD and DLC's and cosmetics skins and loot boxes. And I'm sure other companies will follow suit begging to partner with Nintendo because switch 2 will be big success sales wise not as big as switch original but very big I'm going to assume!
Nintendo wouldn’t drop the clock so badly the performance downright sucks. They know what they’re doing.
well the switch 1's gpu was around 400 mhz in handheld, so 800 is a big improvement
The steam deck that came out in 2022 is 1600mhz... 800 for a console that is supposed to run games until 2032 is ridiculous.

Handheld and docked will have same cpu clock. Handheld will have a portable gpu clock that's much lower for 1080p and then docked mode which overclocks the gpu clock to target 1440p-4k.
I dont know much about specs but wouldn't it be better if they went a more balanced route? In the end all games will have to be optimized for both docked and handheld mode
It's reducing clocks probably to be optimized for battery life, heat, ect.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the switch 2 console later this year or early next year or later next year Sunbro. I can't wait for the switch 2 console.

The Switch is 1/5 the power of a PS4. The Switch 2 will be more powerful than the PS4 while portable. It will have fast internal storage at least as fast as a Sata SSD. The CPU is an ARM A78c 8 core processor that’s significantly faster than the garbage Jaguar CPU’s in the 8th generation consoles. Along with a Nvidia Ampere architecture GPU on 7nm Samsung node process. Either 8gb or 12gb of ram and a 8in 1080p HDR display.
I think people are also forgetting games are going to be 1080p max on handheld.
I’m sure nvidia is going to have some cool AI upscaling tech with the new chip so looking at terraflop numbers is kinda irrelevant
The one rumor I hope that’s true. Plus streaming by direct from console but that’s too much to ask for.
I was thinking of a "Stream Play" function; think of it like DS/3DS download play but, instead of sending a packaged demo, you're streaming a display to another device while playing on your own. (Of course, this will take A LOT of the Switch 2's power, so not every game will be compatible, but it would be a fantastic feature for party games and other multiplayer games).
There have been data on Switch firmware updates that hint of a second display (which some people clickbaited as a "Switch DS"). The second display would be what you stream to another user; not a physical display.

I don't think "docked only" games will ever be a thing. That would defeat the entire purpose of the Nintendo Switch.
Lower than 800 mhz is ridiculous considering the steam deck that came out in 2022 has the gpu at 1600mhz.

If the "crazy low" clock speeds rumor is true, Nintendo may do this to preserve battery life; I expect the cooling fan to be moved to the dock instead of the actual system; that might explain the vast differences of clock speeds between docked and undocked. This will also make the console design sleeker, and with a much more attractive design than the Switch's "cheap tablet" looks, specially if that rumored 8" screen will leave no bezels. To the untrained eye it would just be an iPad Mini. Those violent clock speed changes are also necessary if you want to upscale from 720-1080p to 4K.
Adding to the magnetic Joycons rumor, I expect them to behave similarly to the Apple Pencil 2; they will fit right in with the usual clickiness of a magnetic solution, and maybe even charge wirelessly. And the button below the Home button? I think it will be a "MIC" button for voice chats; I think the right Joycon will finally get a microphone, Famicom style.
This would also help if they want to make a Switch 2 Lite in the future; the cooling fan takes up a lot of space (as well as the cartridge slot, which is why I think it will be digital-only), so I expect a Switch 2 Lite either having a bigger battery or smaller form factor.
I think that some games will only be available in dock mode for the next switch because some games might not be compatible in handheld mode what do you think

No mention of the 12gb which is more than PS4 pro.
it's even more than Series S's 10GB!, however devkits normally have more RAM than the retail units so it might still have 8-10GBs of RAM.
If the Matrix demo it's true though, we're going to get hardware looking very similar to the Series S, only in lower resolution (which DLSS would help mask it). If Nintendo is punching Series S's weight then we might get serious third-party support, as the Series S is currently the lowest common denominator in AAA games.
Imagine getting Baldur's Gate 3 in a device the size of a tablet! No split-screen multiplayer of course...
@@Dairunt1The Series S runs most of its games at 900p or 720p so even lower than that will suck. Even the PS5 has some games that run at 720p to target 60fps. Most games on PS5 and Series X run at 1200p upscaled to 4k to target 60fps.
@@Dairunt1 Nintendo forced me to go PC with their weak hardware all the time I quit Nintendo after the wiiu dumb ass name system and all their prior systems. Thinking I might take the dive to rtx 5090 depends on wattage but my rtx 3090 still crushes so confused as to why jump to rtx 5090 if I already Play most games at 5k-7k resolution at 45fps to 70fps.
Good. I couldn't care less about handheld mode. TV Console gaming needs the power that it deserves.
$400 price point...yeah, for the USA....which means for us Canadians it's $550, add a game at launch which is $90 and that means Canadians will be paying $640 at launch.

Something very few people seem to be talking about is how these supposed clock speeds compare to the current Nintendo Switch whose GPU DOCKED only runs at 768MHz and undocked runs at 307.2MHz on the low end with a high performance mode added later which runs around ~500MHz. If the Switch 2 runs at a similar clock speed in handheld than the OG Switch runs docked then I see no reason why it shouldn’t be able to hit 1080P in handheld (or more likely a reconstructed 1080P from 540P via DLSS).

A lot of reputable insiders have been questioning this for lack of being able to substantiate it and for it lacking context. Not saying he’s wrong. Just saying that we really don’t know for sure. He could be right about the GPU power but could be wrong about how the GPU interacts with everything else.

Sony should be worried if Nintendo and Nvidia are confident enough to underclock that low in portable mode. Might only mean that the chip is very efficient and the development tools are very mature.
The more I’m hearing about this new switch the more I’m thinking only an idiot would buy it over a steam deck or rog alley
Personally, I don’t care about resolution. In fact, I don’t even care for top notch performance when it comes to handheld gaming. But as someone who primarily plays 1st party Nintendo games alongside Fortnite, what I do want is the option to have a performance boost for competitive games when in docked mode. I think a slight performance boost in handheld mode would be ideal but a considerable boost in docked mode should be expected. Especially with where the bar is at for competitive play on other “next gen” consoles that have been out for several years now, I would hope to see 120hz capabilities in docked mode, even if it’s only at 1080p. Is that ambitious? Maybe. But the tech exists to make it happen

If we're getting the Switch 2 at $400, then I'd expect the Switch 2 Lite as soon as both Switch and Switch OLED models get discontinued, so they can sell it at $300.
The Switch Lite might even outlive the other two models because of its $200 price; they could even keep it alive a few more years with a digital-only version if you want to cut its price. Or a docked-only "Switch TV". There's still some things Nintendo can do within a lower price range.

This might seem like a lot but it’s the bare minimum we should all want. Yes it could be weaker than other consoles but don’t make it so many years behind it’s annoying that we get left out of competing in cross playing with friends because our systems can’t run the games and or perform properly and the fps is just way to slow to keep up in shooters so therefore the games becomes useless for the most part for many. The switch could flourish not just by its first party games but by being able to play with others and join the same games without the fps being a disadvantage.
I dont think its true most people play their switch in handheld and with the screen beeing bigger it dosnt make sense to me or switchforce....

I just want to switch2 to be more than powerful enough to run games at 60 FPS and I’m not sensitive to frame rates usually and I’m fine with a game being 30 FPS but if this thing is as powerful as the rivers are suggesting then every game should be at 60 FPS no frame drops and they’ll be a lot of high expectation as well and if any game is at 30 FPS on the new system it’ll be seen as controversial and people will complain but I’m sure that won’t happen if the rumours are to be believed.

@@alpha-bossYou can’t compare two completely different architectures by Teraflops. Also no it’s not possible to be close to a Xbox One X GPU with today’s mobile hardware on a 10watt device in a small form factor. Expect faster than PS4 while portable and close to Series S visuals when docked.

No bro just no :D You can't make a "portable" thing to run a NVIDIA GPU with a battery, it will consumpt very very much power to carry in your hand :D You can't handle the heat with a little fan etc.

Its impossibile to get a ps5 level performance on a portable console, and even if it was it would require unreasonable amount of cooling and electricity, it would be a more powerful ps4.

We’ll have ps 6 within 2 years so by the time the new switch comes out Nintendo will be outdated by 2 console generations. How is that acceptable?? Nintendo makes a much more quality product than Sony but their tech graphically speaking is always so outdated. I’ll never understand this as nintendo was always revolutionary and way ahead of the game in terms of graphics and sound. How did they fall so far behind? And that release almost no games for some reason over the last two consoles.
Because if you really followed Nintendo you would know that their handhelds have smoked all of their consoles in sales. The Wii was the only console that sold very well, and it was mediocre. After struggling for so long on consoles, they decided to bow out and stick to handheld. The Switch is the successor to the 3DS, not the Wii U. The Switch is essentially a really big GBA with an HDMI out.
Nintendo gave up making powerful home consoles after the GameCube failed unfortunately. Along with a change to a new CEO that focused on gimmicks instead of horsepower. Which is why the Wii, Wii U and Switch are massively underpowered. However Nintendo handhelds were always underpowered compared to their competitors.
Seems right. I'd expect close to PS4Pro XB1X. By the time it ships, 2 revisions behind Sony and Microsoft. The same as the Switch was 2 behind when it came to market. That allows the big N to achieve a decent retail price which is going to be key to selling units in high volumes and at a profit. Long term, they're going to have to also get on board with some kind of gaming service like GamePass, as it's pretty obvious that except for the enthusiast crowd, that's the future of console gaming.

@@Villains_TV Because it's the only hardware that runs Nintendo's IP? Same reason as the original switch - released in 2017 with a 2015 SoC with the performance of 2006-2008 desktop GPU, that was soon dramatically bested by mobile phones SoC.

nintendo should prioritize docked mode over handheld i cannot understand why some people prefer to play in handheld on a tiny screen.
It’s the flexibility of being able to take it with you if you’re on the go. That said, I do play way more in docked than portable but I do enjoy having the option.
